I also cry because the hooved animals are my favorite in the game. I have a mod that gives Springbok's extra colors and they're probably my favorite animal to build for. I also really love a bunch of the snakes. I am not surprised about the bugs though. It's not that they're not cool, but all of them (except the cockroach which is actually my favorite exhibit animal), die so quickly that you end up spending a majority of your time replacing them instead of actually having fun. It's why I don't use the butterflies or bugs anymore.
I find I have the opposite problem where they usually breed too quickly so I'm selling most of the exhibit animals before I have the chance to finish the next one.
Some of the butterflies in one of my zoos kept reproducing to the point I had over 75 of one kind since I didn't set the exhibit management part up. My game had previously crashed when I was trying to add that, but seems fixed now. I do have some bugs if I don't keep multiples that they do die and have to be replaced (like Goliath Beetle). I've made a lot of money in my zoos with the Leaf Bug, and tarantulas, and more.
I think their models also a factor... When searching for worst looking animals in Planet Zoo the other day saw that they mentioned in couple of places.
My top 5 (Typing this before I watch the video, so I’m not influenced). 5. African Lion- because I like the interactions, I love the cubs, and I feel I can design their enclosures well, with lots of rock work. I also love selling them for tons of cash in Franchise mode to pay off my loans. 4.Llama-The colour variations are so fun to breed. And the way they carry those handle ball enrichments is hilarious! I enjoy the South American building pack with the bright colours and I feel the llama is an animal where you can make great use of those pieces in its enclosure. I love to make walkthrough enclosures for the llamas, and make both ruins and large natural buildings for them and the guests to interact. I also love landscaping with yucca plants and llamas are one of the few animals that accept them. 3. The African Penguin- Building rocky beaches for the “warm weather” penguin is my delight. I do like the diving animations for the penguin, and all the cool jetties and enrichments they have. 2. Japanese Macaques- Again, the enclosures you can build are interesting! I like the Cherry Blossom Tree and the mosses which go well with the bathing hot springs for these cool spa dudes and dudettes. The addition of mists and bubbles, plus the bathing animations make this my second favourite animal to include. 1. Meerkats- I can build their enclosure into small spaces. I can use cameras in their burrows. The guests can get up close, and they aren’t shy so you can put them up front at the entrances. They are also super cute!
Of course it’s all exhibit animals, the snakes and inverts deserved better My poor giant burrowing still getting hate because of its 4 relatives, out of thousands of species of cockroaches that literally live nowhere near your house
As others have said, it’s interesting that several hoofstock species are on here. They’re staples at zoos everywhere, and I find the diversity of their many forms to be very striking, although I acknowledge I am definitely biased. I guess they might feel a little redundant after a while (for instance, if you already have two antelope exhibits, why add more?). But I think the base game designs also pale in comparison to those we got in later DLCs. Also, justice for the exhibit animals! I haven’t played Planet Zoo nearly as much as I’ve wanted, but I was inordinately excited when I first saw that the small exhibits were a thing, and geeked out over the fact that you could make the backgrounds either rocks or painted walls. I definitely see that the creative potential is very limited and would like to see that expanded upon in a potential sequel, but I still enjoy placing them in my zoos and pretending to look for the animals-it reminds me of actually searching for smaller or secretive animals in big or well-planted exhibits in real zoos. :)
OK... I feel personally attacked now. I love most of the hooved animals. Especially the camels, gazelles and Antelopes :( On the other hand I dislike the climbing and deep diving animals. Mostly because both mechanics is very broken and often don't registre correctly, which results in unhappy animals. I spend way too much time going around the zoo deleting and undoing those things to fix them.
I love reptiles and amphibians but the exhibit system really is limiting, and many of the base game exhibit animals just have very low-quality models, especially the snakes. I LOVE the butterflies though. Best addition to PZ since deep diving.
Aw man I feel bad for the saiga antelope being this low :( I guess hoofstock aren't very popular and they're such a recent addition, but they've quickly become one of my favorite animals in real life, and definitely a top 5 in the game. And then, the sable antelope.... I have to admit I literally had forgotten we had them in the game, and now I'm wondering if I ever even built for them 😂
I got so surprised with the result of this, I got 15 of my Top 20 animals on the Top 100 Video, The African Penguin being my highest and 3 animals in the Top 50 least popular animals, my least being the Menelaus Blue Morpho. But I was so surprised to see the Dama Gazelle as this is my favourite animal in the whole game followed by the Thomsons Gazelle. I only had TWO animals not make it on both of the videos, one being the dromedary camel and two being the blue wildebeest. Personally the hooved animals are my favourite and is so sad to see so many on the bottom top 50. I was also wondering could you do the Middle 30 animals to see what are the most average animals there are in the Planet Zoo Game because that would be so cool to see.
@@DeLadysigner right now I am building an endangered zoo for all the endangered animals that are in the game I only 2 dlc’s right now but I will be buying more here soon
Some animals are not so surprising. This is also interesting to see for Frontier in relation with a possible Planet Zoo 2, which animals to include in the base game or not and there is also the thing that some low placed animals were to late additions to get a higher place. Like for example - numbers 46, 45, 40, 34, 33,31. 36 possiblly wouldn't be included in Planet Zoo 2. The only ones that possibly is gonna make it to Planet Zoo 2 are relative late inclusion as the Dama Gazelle, Collared Peccary and Saiga Antelope. Like... i personally feel they shouldn't have included the animals from the Eurasian Animal Pack, since they were way to recent to make a mark, especially considering they weren't able to leave that big of a mark. Same basically goes for the Collared Peccary, which shows, since alongside the Collared Peccary, we have 2 habitat animals and the Hermanns Tortoise from the Eusarian Animal pack on this list. Seeing the Mandrill, Springbok, African Buffalo, Pronghorn, Black Wildebeest Saiga, Thomsons Gazelle on here also doesn't surprise me. Like, Springbok and Thomsons Gazelle... i mean... whats the difference. The one surprising animal i didn't see here was the Himalayan Brown Bear. Like, at the end of the day, this obviously is a popularity contest and then the problem for some hoofed animals is that we have so many of them, that compete with eachother. Like, looking at Africa alone already Springbok, Thomsons, Sable, Black Wildebeest, Sable all not only need to compete with eachother, but also with other more popular and well-known hoofed animals. Like... there is no way an animal like the Okapi or Bongo would make it on this list... they are just way to popular for that. Same goes for the Zebra and the Addax and Gemsbok are way to interesting to declare them less popular than the animals on this list and there is the thing that in terms of animals, the African roster is oversaturated. Like, for Planet Zoo 2, i think Frontier is best to look for the basegame outside of Africa and Asian primarily and not have the majority of the animals from these 2 continents alone an in order for Planet Zoo 2 not to look to same-y to one, also include animals that never made it into the game, or exclude some animals from the game that are in Planet Zoo (Like for example, you can easily swap out the Siberian Tiger for the Sumatran one for example).
The difference between the Thomson and the Springbok is size, social structures and dietary/foraging differences For example, Springboks can go virtually their entire lives without ever drinking and do what is called pronking and flare like a fold of white fur on their hinds while doing so. I belive the springbok is also a browser opposed to the Thomson? Granted, the game has problems with scale, they aren’t visually very different (altough the Springbok has a couple of morphs due to being also selectively bred for meat and hide), and neither does it seem like the unique fleeing behaviour or dietary requirements are in the game, or really the different naturally occuring herds, and their colour is fairly similiar. The Thomson Gazelle I believe is also partially included because it's one of the oldest gazelles to be featured in zoos? Like they seem to have been fairly present since 1890~ but my memory is muddy
Here is the top least popular animals in planet zoo ! *Proceed to list almost all the animals I put all the time in my zoos because I like them* :') Great video btw
I know i'm a day late to this rate video, but it just slipped my mind. Not at all surprised by exhibit animatronics, sorry i mean exhibit animals being the least favored.
Love your build videos, amazing and astonishing what you do, new to planet zoo myself just got the console version, and very tricky remembering all the things to do but hopefully will get there, just a quick question, don't know if you know seeing as you play on pc, but when you do the career mode and unlock different things, does it not cross over to the sand box part, after doing a few career modes i tried the sand box mode and there was nothing there that i had unlocked from the career mode, so do you have to research everything again......... Thanks, sorry for the long question but nothing about it is on TH-cam
Are you interested in surveying what animals those Planet Zoo players want the Frontier to offer in future DLCs or updates? The format can be just like the survey of animal popularity that you did, everyone can choose 20 species they want in the future (but have to be in detail, like Southern Tamandua rather than just Tamandua)
For me from least favorite top 10 exhibit animals Proghorn is in my favorite list... They are probably the first animal I put in my first zoo. I wonder how the number of animals effected number of hooved animals in this least favorite list. If my memory serves there are too many hooved animal compared to other kinds. Also 100% agree with you about exhibit animals... if there was an option to build them exhibits instead of putting down a box and clicking enrichments to keep away protesters, snakes would be much much higher I bet. Think about making a reptile house and cover one wall with python exhibit from side to side. It would look awesome.
tbh, i feel like the only reason its on here though, is because it didn't have enough runtime to showcase itself, especially since it was in a pack with animals that have been highly requested from the beginning or at least second year of the game (Wolverine, Wisent, Sloth Bear and Takin) and its in direct competition with other hoofed animals. I feel like competition is also why the Wild Boar and the Collared Peccary are on this list, they realistically came to late to make a mark for themselves, but even then i think at least the Wild Boar would have been on this list regardless, since its the least interesting out of the pig/boars we already have in the game, at least the Collared Peccary looks different enough in concept, that if it would have come in the North American Animal pack, i feel like it would have been excluded on the list.
So... while I do agree that exhibit animals are much "worse" because they barely feel like animals in the game and some models are very ugly (especially the anaconda and Boa constrictor imho, they look like plastic toys), I still find very sad that the least favourite animals are all invertebrates... inverts are amazing tbh and I wish Planet Zoo would update the exhibits both from a animal models point of view (take out those plastic models, please) and from an interactivity one, so they won't feel so boring to keep in the zoo. A way to make the exhibits bigger or smaller and more customizable might be a very good thing as well, since some are waaaaaaay too small for some species (the Iguanas for example) and others are way too big (mostly the spiders)
I haven't seen the video yet but I swear if the Asian Water Monitor is on this list... Edit: sad that the majority of habitat animals here are antelopes... Also, my boy the Peccary did not deserve this
I think the only reason the Peccary is on this list, is that it came to late to make a mark for itself (Also the reason why i think Saiga made it on here).
@@nickdentoom1173 I think the Saiga is also here because it's so rare in zoos, and so it's not exactly the best animal for a "realistic" project (as much as I hate that word)
Exhibit animals may not be the most exciting after all they are bugs and snakes. But they are the money makers for my zoos. Especially at first. I would like to see a list of the hardest animals to maintain and the easiest to maintain.
The name of the cockroaches could be your X's 😆 I normaly do not have camels in my zoo, the sound of them is too loud, but they are cute. My favorite animal is Giraffe in real.. But in the last days I just love the swans in the game, they are adorable. I also like the new wild boar, they have the cutest piglets and they is fun to watch them play in the water .
I always use the exhibit animals so often because I'll make Reptile or Insect houses early in my zoos....then I tend to quit building after a couple more habitats.
If you get exhibit animals they can be auto managed now, just set it and forget it and you can sell the extra animals for cash which really gives a boost in franchise mode. I like designing the building to house the exhibits. My troubles are larger habitats and losing creative steam. I often make them too large and get overwhelmed decorating them so they end up looking plain.
It honestly kinda breaks my heart that the exhibit animals are so disliked. They are super boring, yeah, I know. They could have been implemented SO much better. But they’re still fun imo! The frogs and snakes and amphibians are all so fun and interesting, and I really wish the exhibit animal system was better
Not really surprising to see so many exhibit animals down here. They are just an afterthought in this game (sadly) and mostly funtction more like decoration pieces than actual animals. And therefore i feel its a little unfair to them to have them compete against the habitat animals
Bottom 10 isn’t too surprising. I think the Saiga, Pronghorn, Dama Gazelle, Springbok and Thomson’s Gazelle are unsurprising in the regard that they’re all quite similar and forgettable. Probably stole votes from each other and get outshone by larger hoofstock. They usually get plonked into a zoo as filler species. Saiga might suffer from recency bias in a negative way. All the Tropical and Eurasia animals seemed to do poorer than you would expect in this poll given Tassie wasn’t in the top 150 from the other list and Mute Swan was really low too given how popular it is. Peccary is kind of surprising tbh. South American species, great model too. I guess it is also quite forgettable and we have several pigs. It was released fairly close to both the RRH and Wild Boar too. Bactrian doesn’t surprise me. Model is poor, was incorrectly sized for the longest time and the dromedary model is 100x better. African Buffalo I think suffers he from a very poor model. Otherwise it is fairly unique in its niche compared to other African hoofstock. Sable Antelope is slightly surprising in the sense I thought it would beat some of the other African hoofstock like the Nyala or Gemsbok given the dimorphism and the males looking pretty cool. But the model isn’t the best and shows its age. Black Wildebeest makes sense as the bottom imo. An uncommon and forgettable species with a poor model that a) has to compete with many other hoofstock for popularity and b) now has a direct replacement in the blue wildebeest which looks stunning.
Well, guess I'll make a zoo with the most disliked aninals in PlanZo... But still, I love the exhibit animals, and honestly I wish we had more than what we have. Snap, when I was part of the community, I was one of the very few who fought for the exhibit animals😂
The blue wildebeest looks so much better than the black wildebeest. I think the trouble with hoofstock is that realistically you can't do too much landscaping because they'd eat all the grass and plants in an enclosure. Also they poop a lot and die quickly. Looking at you pronghorn.

The name of the cockroaches could be your X's 😆
I normaly do not have camels in my zoo, the sound of them is too loud, but they are cute.
My favorite animal is Giraffe in real.. But in the last days I just love the swans in the game, they are adorable.
I also like the new wild boar, they have the cutest piglets and they is fun to watch them play in the water .
Glad to know I'm not the only one that never uses the exhibits ;)
Same here pal
I always use the exhibit animals so often because I'll make Reptile or Insect houses early in my zoos....then I tend to quit building after a couple more habitats.
But isn't that mostly due to management reasons? Just curious :)
People still have ptsd from the Lion King
Aaaah wait.. you have to clarify this one for me... ? 😅
@@DeLadysigner from the wildbeast stampede u know 😢
Great video
Thank you so much ❤
Sounds like we need a new zoo build with least favorite animals!!!
Sounds boring tho 😅
Not my beloved Wild Boar!
Yall need to put some respect to their name, they are sooo darn cute! 😭
Not really surprising to see so many exhibit animals down here. They are just an afterthought in this game (sadly) and mostly funtction more like decoration pieces than actual animals. And therefore i feel its a little unfair to them to have them compete against the habitat animals
i use like almost all of these in all my zoo's
Why is the Bactrian camel, dama gazelle, and pronghorn in top 50 ad top 10?
Challenge: Make a zoo with only these animals.
So basically most of small exhibit animals
Jep 😅
I'll never put a spider in a build.
so many basegame probably because it is already so long in it ir something
Or just because most of the exhibit animals are base game animals 😜
@@DeLadysigner Honestly, i don't even count the exhibit animals, because they are less popular than the habitat animals in general.
My Favorit animal is the Elefant 😍🐘
Aaaw 😍🐘
The mandrill is disappointing , such interesting animals irl
What was the name of nr39?
I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS MANDRILL SLANDER!!!
Hihi, sorry! ❤️
How is it possible that the proboscis monkey is not in this top? 😂
Too many boring exhibit animals, maybe? 😜
What I got from this was people don’t like base game and exhibit animals 🤣
Haha not really 😊 there are plenty of animals in the top 100 list from the base game 😁
But yeah.. exhibit animals are not that popular 100% 😅
Most of them are wonderful.
In real life, for sure 😜
Why is it pretty much all the exhibit animals?
Well, we can only guess.. But I think because exhibit animals are boring 🙈
In the game that is.. as they are just an animation on their spot and dont really move when looking at them.. 😕
The blue wildebeest looks so much better than the black wildebeest. I think the trouble with hoofstock is that realistically you can't do too much landscaping because they'd eat all the grass and plants in an enclosure. Also they poop a lot and die quickly. Looking at you pronghorn.
Yes, also definitely true!
hoof animals are the least favourite and are the ones we get the most xD
Lol, yeah true.. but I guess they are all also just very common for zoos..
I love reptiles and insects/spiders.
Am I like the only that just loves hooves animals
What? I love any animal 😮😢
In my opinion the barbarisu is horrible and a waste of money
Im for a Favorite Animation 😅
