Good video very informative for people just starting shaping metal. As a suggestion you can also make a T shape of holder with a milled out center where you can screw on to any other shaped die rather than weld each post to a different die every time .
Glad to hear you are going to keep us tuned in to the remaining work on the Jeep. You show us a lot of things that go into a "show car" but seldom see a completed project.
Thank you we will be filming the last video for the Willys project this coming week
While really old machines are out there (This one from Sweden) and perhaps hard to find, but these built America. Cars, refrigerators, airplanes to 50 Cal "MA-DUCE" housings. Fabulous multipurpose machine. Plus you can make new dies in house. I love it.
Thanks, you always have some great technical informative videos. You rock man!
Thank you Dean
What I'm really enjoying about your content, is what you kind of referenced yourself. It's like watching the early days of JJ when he was more serious about the art of metal shaping. You both speak with clarity and understanding as someone who's transitioned from tradesman to artists. There's practicality to the approach, but the freedom to push things further at a slower pace, and more thoughtful intent.
It's really cool to watch.
Please more metal shaping , More info on the PULLMAX I have a P9 , I need more instuctional videos , Thank you
Thank you very much
I’ll make more 👍🏻
Love the video. Please do many more on the Pullmax. I own the same machine. I wasn’t looking for one but it found me a few years ago. Couldn’t pass it up. When only producing a few parts and when the shapes are relatively simple, I’ve made solid oak tooling which works great and is simple to build.
I’ll have to try wood! Thank you
Very interesting! Seriously appreciate you capturing these early steps. They are the ones that are frequently forgotten as someone becomes more seasoned on a machine or in a technique. Looks like you got a hell of a start on going. Looking forward to updates and seeing how and when you choose to incorporate it into your workflow.
My pleasure! Thanks Phil appreciate you buddy
We recently purchased a P9 at auction. Didn't even know that there a many models of Pullmax machines. Ours has the sliding tables for front to back and left to right movement. Have not yet used the machine and are trying to find a source for collets whether square or round. I have a complete machine shop but it would be nice to have help deciding what tools and collets to use. Loved your video. So informative. Thanks
Thank you!!
I recently subscribed to Twombley's channel. He does a very good job of explaining why the metal does what it does when used in a particular machine.
He sure does
Really interesting video! Can't wait to see what you turn out with this machine (and everything else in general)!
You and me both! More coming soon
Great vid,I have done metal fab four ever alway like seeing up comers take on the trade. Keep them coming .
Thank you
I really enjoyed your video on the Pullmax. I've never seen one quite like yours. I've owned two of them, the first was a p9, the most common series and the p9 was the largest of that series capable of shearing 1/4 inch stainless. The one I currently own is a d series that uses 7/8 shanks and has nearly the same capacity as the p9 but is physically a lot smaller and lighter. The p9 weighed 6500 pounds. By the way, I make my profiles out of 1/2 inch stock.
I have a D3...you can read my comment to get the details...I would appreciate any info you could share about the D series. 😊
Hi I just purchased a P9 , it was on a Navy Ship , looks like it was not used much, just need more videos on using it , I did find a center tool holder for it so I have both , any info would be appreciated !Thanks😀
Yessah definitely love metalshaping videos!
Thanks I’ll keep em coming
Really enjoyed this video - and I have a note. Carbon paper to help dial in the hammer/anvil contact patch. Keep up the good work!
I’ll order some thank you
Yeah me too on this as well. Nice one
Very interested
👍🏻👍🏻
Great information.......thanks.
Cool stuff!
👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely very interested! I have a D3 Pullmax.. currently in the middle of building a barndominium so I haven't even had a chance to power it up and play with it yet. The D3 has a 5hp 50hz 3ph motor. I'm thinking about swapping it for a 1ph motor or a 60hz 3ph motor and adding a VFD so I can vary the speed..I don't know if that would be a beneficial feature so would appreciate any experienced advice on that. I also have a 10hp rotary phase converter. The D3 has 22mm tooling so I was a little surprised to hear that your P22 had 19mm. It's rated to nibble 5/16 plate (kinda scary). My machine only has 1 depth setting on the handle so I'm thinking I might mill a couple extra detents in the ring. I will have to make a fence but I do have a bracket that slides on the dovetail. I 've never seen another D3 in person or on line so I don't know much about the model. It does show up on the Pulmax site...the guy I bought it from said it came from an Airforce base so I wonder if it is a military version... I'm welcoming any feedback. 😊
Unfortunately I’m new to this as well. As for the speed I never change the speed thus far
Definitely more shaping videos please
Will do
Thank u
🤘🏻
1018 is just mild steel which might be okay but something like A2 or M2 is real tool steal of just cold rolled medium carbon would also be better.
Technically, you can even use Delron or a hardwood to make some of these days you do not always have to use tool steel
Travis - can you give a basic price on one?
