Month of Ramadan is just round the corner, hope you still in malaysia when month of Ramadan came, you guys will be amazed the numerous kind of food you will see in the bazaar
I'm Filipino American from Queens, NY and Caribbean food is my #1 favorite food, particularly Trini. My top 5 are Trini, Sri Lankan, Thai, Malaysian and Jamaican. Basically all the derivative Indian foods that have some type of curry and carb like festival, bara, roti, rice etc. There are definitely a lot of similarities between South / Southeast Asian food and West Indian food. Trini Chinese and Jamaican Chinese is also amazing.
Oh word?! What part of Queens? I grew up in Queensvillage. And we're alot alike, Caribbean food is my favorite too, but I do need to try more Trini food.
@@GoingFartherTogether Woodside and Astoria. I had a lot of Trini friends growing up so I go to Liberty Ave, Lefferts Blvd etc in Ozone Park for Trini and Guyanese food a lot. Primarily Trinciti and Singhs. For Jamaican I like Fyahbun Creative in Manhattan. But in general Toronto, Canada has the best West Indian food I've ever had. It's on another level up there.
@@FunkyChild718 oh ok cool, I'm familiar with those areas. I actually had doubles from Trinciti before. But thats the extent of the Trini food I've tried. So I would love to try more.
A Trinidadian friend of mine introduced me to Ovaltine and I really liked it, so I’m sure I would love Horlicks too. Once again blown away by the high-quality affordable meals⭐️⭐️
I like Ovaltine too but Horlicks is even better!!! So you’ll definitely like it. Malaysia is one of the best places for affordable great tasting food. It’s my favorite place for food in all of south east Asia
The best foody places in West Malaysia 1. Gopeng, Perak 2. Gua Musang, Kelantan 3. Sekinchan, Selangor 4. Kuala Terengganu 5. Kluang, Johor 6. Taiping, Perak 7. Raub, Pahang 8. Sungai Petani, Kedah 9. Alor Gajah.
@@zedono1391 also along the road from Linggi to Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, where you can taste Masak Lemak ciliapi: smoke beef, smoke duck, smoke catfish, smoke puyuh bird, duck eggs, cow intestine with bamboo shoot, baung fish, sea small snails, all cooked in coconut milk, green gravy. Cheers
The thing about Nasi Lemak... No one Nasi Lemak tastes the same! It's different frm one shop to d other. Msia have Malay version of nasi lemak, Mamak style & Chinese style to begin with. Also fusion of Indonesian variant ... WANJO @ Kampung Baru is also not bad
Thats good to know! We're not totally surprised since Malaysia is such a diverse country. I can see why Nasi Lemak can vary in taste depending on who's making it. We lucked out on our first try. We loved it. Thanks for watching!
valentine roti canai version is very different from any roti canai u gonna eat outside. it is crispy and thin. very different but still yummy. i havent visited this place for almost 10years eventho i always passing by frequently
Nasi lemak is the best breakfast. It has carbohydrates, protein and vegatables. You could have different types of sambal such as anchovies, squids, chicken, prawns and kerang. You could eat with beef or chicken rendang. The rice could be ordinary rice or basmati cooked in coconut milk, could add pamdan leaves, serai or strawberries. Cheers.
@EBZ-z5n me and my 3 friends who play golf say its healthy. We eat nasi lemak and half boiled eggs before a round of golf, 18 holes, 4 hours. After golf we eat white rice with smoke beef in green curry. Cheers
RM46 is much more expensive. If you go to a regular Indian restaurant, two Indian meals would only cost RM20 to RM30. If you like Malaysian food, there are many different foods here, Indian Lamb Curry + Roti Canai, Malay Nasi Lemak, Ramly Burger, Sate (grilled meat), Fried Banana, Fried Fish Cake, Penang-Chinese Laksa and Prawn Noodles, Malaka-Nyonya Food, PJ SS2 Area Musang king Durian, Wednesday Night Market "Taman Connaught" Middle Eastern Shaobing, Western restaurants, Japanese food, Chinese food. Malaysia also has many tourist attractions, Langkawi - beach, diving, Sky Bridge, duty-free shops, cigarettes and alcohol are duty-free and cheap. Genting - casino, amusement park. Cameron - waterfall, tea plantation and strawberry farm. Kuala Terengganu - Pulau Redang beach, diving. Sabah - Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Southeast Asia. Sabah - Semporna diving, cheap live seafood. The Chinese New Year is coming at 12 o'clock on the evening of the 28th. There will be fireworks, lion dances, and New Year food. It will be very lively.
Thank you so much for sharing so many recommendations. I added all of these dishes and places to our list so that when we revisit, we'll have an even better experience🙏🏽🙏🏽
13:25 personally compared to america, catfish in asian countries are way better because its small, catfish in americas r big and taste bland .. had catfish in new orleans fried and was nothing compared to thos babys there .... catfish should definitely be top target for all west tourist coz its a unique native fish. Fry em, grill em, steam em etc.
I understand that in many cultures, eating with the left hand is avoided because it is traditionally used for personal hygiene. Even using the left hand to pass food or eat is considered impolite & unhygienic, but I'm left handed. So it comes naturally to me. Do you know which cultures primarily use their right hand for these reasons?
@@GoingFartherTogether Most cultures in in SE Asia have this rule. Using your left hand can be seen as insignificant, rude or very rude. Malaysia is westernised, so not so many squatty-toilets anymore, but it's very much a cultural thing, especially around elders. Not having a go, just pointing it out as I, and surely most of us, believe that local cultures' trads and norms should be respected. If you ever visit Finland, I'll introduce to sauna. No trunks, no towls, just nude as it is done. Happy travels.
why would you ask if nasi lemak is over rated? its our local breakfast and eaten by almost every malaysian? its like asking americans in america is french fries overated?
And we can see why! It’s delicious! But I’m sure there are people in the world that may think French fries are overrated so 🤭 it’s all about personal preference. Thanks for watching.
U need to find a good spot, just ask the locals. Many stalls prepare less desireable sambal, which should be preparedperfectly. The chillies should be stirfriwd until the oil separates. The sweet, sour and spicyness as well as the amount of shrimp paste should be balanced.

We've been hearing but we already left Malaysia, we are going to plan to be there for Ramadan in 2026
🎉🎊Nice video! Happy New Year, as well.🎊🎉
Happy New Year to you too! 🎉🎊

Roti canai, teh tarik and nasi lemak got recognition by UNESCO as Malaysia best breakfast....
Cool! We had no idea, but we can absolutely understand why. Malaysian food is delicious! Thanks for watching. We’ll have to try Teh Tarik next time.
You can drink hot or cold teh tarik....Horlick also famous drink in Malaysia....that is roti mertabak mixed with chicken or beef...

You've got a lot of great information about nasi lemak! I can see why it's such a popular dish! We enjoyed it every time we had it 😋😋
Yea it's a fairly healthy meal, especially in comparison to lots of other much unhealthier meal options
Where in the USA are you guys from.?
We're both from NY
Go to normal Malay store to eat roti canai and the tarik tarik which is more cheaper..
Do you have a store that you would recommend for us to visit?

That's what I thought too, that is too pricey for 2 type rotis + 2 drinks, other place probably rm30-ish

It really should be a top target, we enjoyed Asian catfish very much
my brother, we pronounce Nasi Lemak, not Nasi lamak
Good to know! Thanks for clarifying that for us.
t hought about less than rm30 for all of roti that you guys order. kind a overkill price
Maybe🤷🏾♂️, our goal isn't to get the very cheapest meal, but a really great meal at a fair price, and it was a really great meal

We had alot more footage at Wanjo but we lost it😩. We were so disappointed, Wanjo was one of our favorite places in KL
@GoingFartherTogether noooo..i go to wanjo for the first and the last time,u should try nasi lemak burung hantu, village park or hawker stall
overrated to the foreigners..maybe..because they might try to eat it one or two times.
and not all nasi lemak are well prepared...
I'm so glad that we lucked out because everything we ate in Malaysia was delicious! We don't think it's overrated at all. Thanks for watching!
Street nasi lemak taste much more better, hot and cheap...
You will love other black food. Go to indian neighborhood. They are also black.
