You're right about the rollers... its much better to spray. But a couple tips I have regarding the finish of Duratex with rollers... Use a 9" roller with a very thin foam profile, the little rollers are only good for small speakers and tight areas. Coat evenly without worrying about the streaks, wait 5-10 minutes (less in hot/dry environment), then roll in one direction only, overlapping about an inch as you go. Avoid extending past the edges with your roller and avoid pressing down near the edges. That will squeeze out the duratex from the foam roller unevenly and will create streaks when you go back over your work. If there are still streaks, wait a bit longer and then repeat the process, but roll in a direction 90 degrees to how you did your first "smoothing" rolls. The thin foam roller will hold less duratex and you wont waste as much when its time for cleanup. Great job, love seeing the build.

You have it right about having lots of compressor if you are painting. Many years ago I was locking up the body shop I worked at when we heard a rocket-like noise. We were about 200M from an airport runway, so we though it was something there. But when we drove around to see what it was, the noise was coming from our back door! We ran back to the front. We found a 1" PVC air line had pulled out of a fitting, ripped of the wall and wedged against the ceiling. The painter we left in the BlowTherm didn't even notice anything wrong because he was almost deaf and we had 50HP of compressor (a 20 and a 30HP running of of one pressure switch) so even with a 1" hole the pressure stayed high enough that the restrictor at the spray gun was still the limiting factor. Now you don't need 50HP, but you will likely want more than you can run on a 110v circuit.
I think double thickness on the whole box is overkill and just adds excess weight. Bracing every 8-10 inches will provide enough strength to keep box resonance to a minimum. Using plywood would save weight, but costs much more. Plus the end grain will need a little work to prep before painting

Nice video bro, But my question is " Do you think those cabinets are the most suitable for those huge speakers as design language? i think as my "humble" experience these subs need a radiator suspension to makes you feel the real bass effect , i don't think sealed boxes will does the same joy, please correct me if i am wrong , and very good you keep kids around you when you create stuff its very important to make them creative in future , good man
Thanks man. Honestly, I've never heard another system compete with this one for bass. They are very impressive speakers. I chose sealed so they would dig lower. I didn't want them falling off after a tuning frequency with a port. Passive radiators would be a good option, but it'd cost quite a bit more. They do great with a sealed enclosure
Absolutely Beautiful....I do have one question though. I'll admit I didn't watch the whole video but, do you plan on adding speaker grills? As I was watching the subs flex I couldn't help but wonder if the flex of the subs would distract while watching movies....like catching your eye? I know I had to go to a closed cabinet for my entertainment center due to the lights on the equipment so I didn't know if the flex was enough to distract. I'm looking to do my house setup with SI next. I'm currently running 2 SQL 12s on an SIQ 1500.1 in my truck and they are some of the best sounding subs I've heard in a car.
Thanks man. You really don't see the flex since you are sitting straight in front of them. Plus it's dark with the projector, so you really don't see much of the speakers. It all kinda fades to black down below. SI makes killer stuff!
Looks awesome, killer setup. You ever run a out of phase audio test to dial in setting the left and right speaker placement? Tjey seem super toed in where u can probably squeeze better imaging out of it
I spray my duratex... although I did find a good roller method that looks pretty good. Small passes over after with a dryer roller.... every direction criss cross, try and leave no roller marks.... really a pain but can look great. Usually I thin the roller grade with 25% water and spray with 2.5mm LPHV.
Through the box design or via sweep, have you determined a resonate frequency for the enclosures? And if so, do you have to eq it out to not be overwhelming during playback?
Everything is EQ'd pretty heavily. The subs are either done with a minidsp or with dirac live. They play flat down to 7 hz at over 115 db or over 120 db when you cut them off at about 10 hz.
Mannnnnnn You Loaded!!!!!! Wow thats one kick ass home and set up you have, you've been blessed and have done well Very lucky. Thank you for sharing its an absolute privilege. If I win the lottery I could have this

im glad you finally got around to painting them. this build is nuts. wonder how long the drywall will be able to stay hanging on since those walls must be shaking all the nails loose.
Like a bunch of exposed drivers with little kids around to mess with them or have 'accidents' with his $1,300 each drivers = LOL!! No no... don't buy or make some cheap grilles... that extra $20 whatever is just 2 much =)) Frax sake U don't even need them pointing forward. Turn them around & will sound actually BETTER because loading into the wall 2 help 'couple' with the air even more =D
my favorite movies for deep bass on blu-ray is 'Everest' during the avalanche and storms. Then 'San Andreas' the earthquake movie. Both are Dolby Atmos. Then F7 is DTS X but has some good scenes. Mortal Engines is probably the King of all Bass movies (Dolby Atmos blu-ray).
in a large room what do you think is most important from a sub? cone area, magnet size (b/l), or xmax? like for example, i run a lot of subs (18) in various sizes (4 15s 10 12s 2 10s 2 8s) and the boxes are all within spec ( total space in the boxes before displacement are estimated at about 22 cu ft) ( 3 of the boxes that have the 12s are tuned to 39, and 2 are tuned to 32 the 10s are tuned to 40 and the 8s 42 and the 2 boxes of 15's are tuned to 36) (they are also all wired together and have influence on each other for better or for worse. personally i think better) , but the subs are all cheapies but as a group they are capable of 4,800w rms (i do have a silly vid on my page of 15 hz i was testing for example using a taramps smart 3k wired to .4) . so tl;dr is it really worth it to get 4 expensive subs and call it a day? i have about 1k invested over the years in my wall in subs alone. currently i play from 19-73 hz with authority.
I think with a large room, its important to have at least 2 if not 4 subs to help smooth out the response. Then air displacement is whats going to get you the high spl. You can do that with a few high excursion subs or several lesser subs. I have (16) 12 inch JBLs that were $30 each that would probably yield similar results as (3) 24s, but they would also take up a lot more room down here for boxes.
@@LifeofBliss ok i understand now. would there be an advantage to more box space being used to handle the same amount of power you are on now? i know the room is also a box, but more cu ft of box for the subs is very beneficial for the room? thanks for taking the time to respond.
I've pushed the limits of this system. My amp can't push the subs as hard as they can go, so I'm limited by that. I dont go full tilt all the time, but its fun every now and then for demos
Its 12 gauge. Looks smaller in the video, but could definitely be bigger. Unfortunately the neutrik connectors are pretty much capped at 12 gauge and thats whats ran through the walls anyways
Hey awesome good on your set up looks so much better painted. What was the volume on you avr or pre/pro at to get the db you were showing, quite impressive.
That front stage is absolutely killer now. Everything is on point from the screen and LED backlight to the LCR and subwoofers. If I may make 1 small suggestion, I think a 4th 24" subwoofer is called for in this situation ;P! You might as well balance it out, I mean odd numbers are bad luck...just sayin :). Great work man!
Nice sound system, I have a friend of mine who would build home theater sound systems and then test the equipment using the DVD movie U571 to determine if he could blow house garage doors off its tracks or shatter the neighbor's dogs eardrums for months. Your system may be equivalent.... .
18:00 Your talking about SPL, but your 2 front subs have a very obscured box design, and no tubes or ports. By looking at them i can feel that you are missing out on lower frequencies because of the box design and not having 4 inch pvc tubes.
Do some more reading on sealed enclosures. Box shape has nothing to do with how much spl a speaker outputs on a sealed box. I would be really missing out on low frequencies if these were ported. They'd drop off like a rock under 20 hz ported unless the box was 5x the size. Sealed allows for lower frequencies to still have a high spl
Great job on the system, and even more so on your gracious invitation to see and hear it (sort of - youtube). Around 19:00 or so in you began to offer links to others - and you introduced them very well. That's passing it on. congrats and I hope these do well.
No port means slower roll off, plays deeper. Boxes would have been too big in my situation for a port as well. Theres a little less output around what a ported box would be tuned at, but I wasn't worried about output with 3 24s
Im curious about what you said at around 18:20 about taking away the house curve and giving back that chest thump. I thought that the house curve was how you got that chest thump, so i wanted to know how that was achieved with a flatter a response. And any tips i can try.
I did the house curve thing and lost a lot of chest thump (50-80 hz) because my subs were focused on playing everything below that, since it was boosted. Everything was tuned flat for the sub and then the entire sub frequency was ran hot compared to the mains.
You should really trim as much excess material before hitting it with a flush trim. You're killing the bit & potentially burning the wood. The bit shouldn't be encapsulated within the wood & digging its way out. Material should be trimmed to where 1 blade of the the bit is cutting at a time
The FS of the HS-24 Is 17hz, and the FS of the IB-24 is 28hz. I wonder if the IB-24" subwoofers hit as low as these HS-24" subwoofers. Does the difference in FS affect the IB-24's low notes as much one would think? I would love to have some IB-24s, but shipping to TN is approximately $400.00 or so.
Those IB will hit great super low. They move so much air you shouldn't have any issues, but you can always reach out to Nick at stereo integrity, super cool guy
Hey, great video. So, EQ, what was the thought process? To EQ more to a flat curve that does rise? Or was there some room curve involve? Did you add a room curve in after? I'd love to know, and does it sound better? Thanks.
So they preferred doing more of a flat response for the subs with a very quick rise around the crossover point. That way you have more of your chest slam (40-60 hz) while still getting that super low bass. It worked out very well
Okay. I'm using +8db, but I'm using a slow rise to about 30hz with a 0.7 Q. To raise it very quickly after 80hz would require a pretty aggressive Q, maybe a Q of 1? Do you have a video of the EQ or do they have videos about that EQ style? I'd love to see it. @@LifeofBliss
I do not have any video or pics of the graph after it was done unfortunately... and this was all done at my last place. I just remember it was bumped pretty quickly around 80-100 hz depending on crossover (mine was 90) and it was pretty flat after the bump
Love the video update, and your thoroughness; but wondered why you didn't use black screws for the subs? It's the one thing that throws off all your hard work. Shouldn't everything be black??
Can you imagine one day being able to duplicate the experience through my cellphone speakers LOL 🤪 I wish I was there in front 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 greetings from Texas

Makes me shed tears of joy... I wish I had this setup.. im pretty darn jelly

Your neighbors must love you
They do. Can't hear it at all believe it or not. 90% of the basement is concrete walls
Devil Bis!! That's to much fun, you seem smart enough to know the correct enunciation. You have a talent...I like where your mind goes! Great projects. Keep up the Awesome Work .
That was so great running back from mailbox 😆. I do that to myself , crank up stereo and walk next door then my shuffle hits crazy music and I'm running 😆😆. That set up outta control cool. 💪👍
21:20 the pressure moving the tower woofers from sealed subs. And the tower woofers are very stiff PA grade drivers.
looks good. although the wires for subs looks a bit thin?
Awsome video Kyle! I've been waiting for this one! I would love to hear what this system sounds, the sound presure from all those woofers!
Ive never heard of beq until here. Very cool extra motivation to make some beasts. Thanks, ill check it out
Nice video bro, But my question is " Do you think those cabinets are the most suitable for those huge speakers as design language? i think as my "humble" experience these subs need a radiator suspension to makes you feel the real bass effect , i don't think sealed boxes will does the same joy, please correct me if i am wrong , and very good you keep kids around you when you create stuff its very important to make them creative in future , good man
Man you move fast for a man of your size. That is the most impressive part of this video which says so much. Amazing front setup 😍🤩
Hahaha smartass... I played it back going "I thought I was running??" 😂 thanks Tristan!
@@LifeofBliss Kyle I was actually being quite serious you do move fast for a man of your size you move like a smaller man I was being dead serious
I came in like a wrecking ball 🎶 🤣 thanks bud
@@LifeofBliss I can be quite the smart a** so I can understand why you wouldn't take me seriously lol
Really enjoyed bud! A little crazier than I would go but awesome system. From one theater lover to another enjoy your family and your hobby!
Awesome Setup, Brilliant Job. Loving it.
Mannnnnnn
You
Loaded!!!!!!
Wow thats one kick ass home and set up you have, you've been blessed and have done well
Very lucky. Thank you for sharing its an absolute privilege.
If I win the lottery I could have this
Those subs are freakin awesome! That's the ultimate man cave!
Привет. А ты производил расчёт объёма корпуса перед тем как собирать его? И ещё вопрос. Какае характеристики динамика?
*They look great*
*Nice start of the video*
Super dobry pomysl jakiej mocy sa one
Hey man, thank you for introducing me to Sinbosen. I got the fp2200q to drive a pair of 18Sound in a reflex box. Not for home theater though - my DJ setup. Them things are BEAST at half the price of crowns, yamaha, QSC
Heck yea man. They've done well for use HT guys and are obviously made for a DJ type setup 😉
im glad you finally got around to painting them. this build is nuts. wonder how long the drywall will be able to stay hanging on since those walls must be shaking all the nails loose.
So far, all is good!
I just love this kind of madness.
Nice set up, currently running 2 18s in my car 148db at 26hz, almost at my 150db goal
Nice. Home Theater can't touch what you guys can do in a car 😉
Very sweet opening, London is listening.
looks awesome ..however you should have ported the sub boxes will sound much better... Just a thought.
Just for reference, the inside of a CH-47 Chinook in flight is about 110-112db.
my favorite movies for deep bass on blu-ray is 'Everest' during the avalanche and storms. Then 'San Andreas' the earthquake movie. Both are Dolby Atmos. Then F7 is DTS X but has some good scenes. Mortal Engines is probably the King of all Bass movies (Dolby Atmos blu-ray).
That's a nice footprint for that bit a kit. Good deal.
in a large room what do you think is most important from a sub? cone area, magnet size (b/l), or xmax? like for example, i run a lot of subs (18) in various sizes (4 15s 10 12s 2 10s 2 8s) and the boxes are all within spec ( total space in the boxes before displacement are estimated at about 22 cu ft) ( 3 of the boxes that have the 12s are tuned to 39, and 2 are tuned to 32 the 10s are tuned to 40 and the 8s 42 and the 2 boxes of 15's are tuned to 36) (they are also all wired together and have influence on each other for better or for worse. personally i think better) , but the subs are all cheapies but as a group they are capable of 4,800w rms (i do have a silly vid on my page of 15 hz i was testing for example using a taramps smart 3k wired to .4) . so tl;dr is it really worth it to get 4 expensive subs and call it a day? i have about 1k invested over the years in my wall in subs alone. currently i play from 19-73 hz with authority.
Just depends on the driver you are using, but you'll usually require less power to drive the sub with a bigger box
You did a helluva job. Love it.
I'm impressed.
@life of bliss did you buy the jumper cables to wire your subs in series for a 4 ohm load or used any speaker wire?
Just any speaker wire will work. 12 gauge or bigger
Great job! That is incredible. You do amazing work. One day I hope to be able to go this route. Keep up the great videos.
hello there, I'm a wood finisher and I recommend the HVLP Titan sprayer there's no need for a big compressor check it out
Do you use the full potential of this system? it is HUGE! a single 15" reflex cab is more than enough for me (down to 24hz)
I've pushed the limits of this system. My amp can't push the subs as hard as they can go, so I'm limited by that. I dont go full tilt all the time, but its fun every now and then for demos
Your enclosures came out beautifully! Nice work, my friend!!
Noticed what looks like movie posters on canvas in the background. Where did you buy prints like that on canvas?
There's a video on those 😉 th-cam.com/video/dmIsXPZTLaU/w-d-xo.html
Awesome setup figure out a way to add protective screens because kids will start poking at the speakers they always do lol.
What gauge wire is that on the woofer wires? seems small for the power levels. Awesome system
Its 12 gauge. Looks smaller in the video, but could definitely be bigger. Unfortunately the neutrik connectors are pretty much capped at 12 gauge and thats whats ran through the walls anyways
LOVE THESE!!! Just one thing.... Could you please raise the center channel another half inch, so it's flush? My OCD is going crazy!!!!! hahahaaa
Hahaha I knew that would get to some people... yes I will be doing that. Gotta get the saw and spray paint out 😉
Love that victory sign

@@LifeofBliss wow both bikes are gorgeous I have the 12 highball
Thanks man. Sold the Jackpot a while back, kept the CC as it was more practical lol. Those highballs are good lookin bikes as well 👍
That is one big system......but please tell me that you upgraded the speaker wiring to at least 14 gauge. It looks like you are using 18 or smaller.
All wiring is 12 gauge. Looks smaller cause the speakers are huge 😅
DUDE where have you been. Always waiting for an update on your system. It came out Awesome!!!!
Been changing diapers 😭💩
Hahahaha building your own system and helping with the Kids. Your a God among US insects.
Lol I'm just a guy who likes to build things. And occasionally gets poop on his finger. 😅
Gracias por compartir tu proyecto de sonido, está espectacular, saludos desde Colombia !!!
And what’s the measurements on the braces that u put in the box
Lol you hired extras. That's next level.
Most expensive extras I've ever hired...
Friggen Amazing vid! I am a fan of high end audio and I love this video and the speakers you built. Sweeeeeeet!!!
Super cute kids! Amazing system!
What are the measurements on the L shape boxes
Hey awesome good on your set up looks so much better painted. What was the volume on you avr or pre/pro at to get the db you were showing, quite impressive.
Thanks man. Well yamaha AVRs are kinda weird... it was at -14 to -20 depending on the clip. Mini dsp was +10 for the music clips as well
The measured graphs you showed at the last are not flat. They have huge peaks ans dips. How is the listening experience ???
That front stage is absolutely killer now. Everything is on point from the screen and LED backlight to the LCR and subwoofers. If I may make 1 small suggestion, I think a 4th 24" subwoofer is called for in this situation ;P! You might as well balance it out, I mean odd numbers are bad luck...just sayin :). Great work man!
I'll bring your suggestion to the boss... 😂 thanks bud!
@@LifeofBliss lol, maybe just sneak it passed her, they are super subtle 😜.
What are you using for a projector and which surge protector do you have it connected to?
I jad a Panasonic AE 8000U. No surge protector in that setup
Appreciate it Mark. I've had many people help me along my youtube and theater journey, glad to try and do the same!
I didn’t see an air port for the subs. How does that play into the sound?
Wow 😲😲😲🔈🔉🔊 Very good 😃👍🏻
Wow ! Awesome VDO man and very Nice your Big bike
It worked out very well
Interesting, how much does it rise around the crossover point?@@LifeofBliss
8-15 db, just preference. I'm about 10-12
I would have loved to hear the downtown shootout from the movie HEAT on that setup. Please do another video with that.
Thanks
Piano gloss em 🙂
Great looking job 👍
Love the video update, and your thoroughness; but wondered why you didn't use black screws for the subs? It's the one thing that throws off all your hard work. Shouldn't everything be black??
I dont mind the contrast, can't tell with the lights off. Those screws are silver from SI though.
Can you imagine one day being able to duplicate the experience through my cellphone speakers LOL 🤪 I wish I was there in front 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 greetings from Texas
do you have a video how to connect all the components?
Not dedicated to just connecting components, no.
