Why I bought this Tesla Model S 75D (and not an Audi RS6).

- A Tesla Model S 75D was definitely NOT on my shopping list when I started looking for a new, more practical daily driver back in August. I was test driving varieties of Audi A6 Avant and fully expected to buy an RS6 in the end. But then I hired a Tesla model Y for a week and had an automotive epiphany.
A few weeks later I found myself picking up a four year old Telsa Model S 75D at Tesla in Chester, which gave me a good chance to try out the famed Tesla charging network on the way back to Kent.
A lot of new electric car drivers have range anxiety and I was no different, but that first trip down the M6/M1 motorways gave me the confidence I needed.
It's a great car, perfect as a daily driver for me and the economics all add up in a way your accountant would approve of. I hope you enjoy the review.
If you add stick-on noise cancellation foam to the underside of the hood, you can both insulate the frunk and also drastically reduce the road noise for not much effort. If you want to go the extra mile on sound, insulate inside the wheel wells too.
Good to know, thanks 👍
I bought one of these a couple years ago, and it's an absolutely wonderful car!!! It's an "underwhelming Tesla", but it's the best car I've ever owned.
I agree, it's a brilliant car. Mine was meant to be an interim before the new model S I had on order. But then they dropped right hand drive and no way am I doing left hand drive in the UK.
Watched a few Model s videos, this is excellent. Nice presentation and informative.
Thanks Nick 🙏 Are you thinking of buying one? Some good deals now, 9 months on from the video!
The screens went horizontal on the Model S with the 2021 refresh. I find the portrait map more ergonomic, but the landscape is better for basically everything else.
Interesting, thanks, I find tinkering with Spotify at the bottom of the portrait screen a little risky at times.
A really excellent little review. Now wondering if I could fit our large dog in the spacious boot. Seems to have good road presence too.
Thank you 🙏 Our Labrador has plenty of room. It has 745 litres of boot space with the seats up - more than an e-class estate. There's another 150 litres up front. It's a tardis.
I had a similar bad experience at Dartford when I picked up my P90DL in June. However the 1 year used warranty has been bullet proof they'll even fix the rattles on the inside and out 😅👍 Great choice mate I hope you like it for years to come. I still love mine! I've already got rid of the turbine wheels and replaced them with a set of third party 19 inch wheels (lighter, faster and more range) Once you go 19 you never go back 😂👍
Thanks, I'm still enjoying the Tesla - it's just so effortless. Not enjoying the charging stops on longer journeys so much - takes me ages to get home. Part of me still longs for an RS6.
@@RossOnCars I’m glad you are! Same here. But now I’m out of warranty I’m feeling the pain if anything goes wrong haha. Not much has but it’s not cheap when something does! 🤣🤣
The odd charging stop can be a pain I completely understand. Still early days they’re fun and full of tech. I’m looking forward to the next gen Teslas when they’re doing 500+ miles on a charge 😃
@@TraderJono It's an amazing car the Tesla. With 500m stops it will be unstoppable (literally).
gonna buy one too i have 2 kids and my family car = toyota rav4. sold my 540i for it and now bought a house with a charger so time to go and buy a nice sedan again as a secondary car
Did you buy one? I'm seriously thinking about getting another when the lease is up.
Bought model S in June
Most of my 12k miles have been on road trips.
No way would I buy an electric Audi for a road trip
Do you still have it? If so, how has it been? Any issues?
I do, it's a great car. No issues at all mechanically. The acceleration still amazes me. Having to stop on long journeys can be an issue depending on how fast you want to get somewhere.
Is it fast?
It is and fast in a way that the ICE can't match. It's not the fastest Tesla of course but 0-60 for the 75D is officially 4.2 and it feels quicker than that in reality.
@@RossOnCars ok cool thanks! I currently have a scatpack charger and the 0-60 is about the same. I didn’t want to downgrade in regards to speed.
The S75 has a smaller, lighter battery, so feels a lot quicker for the lower speeds vs the heavier performance models.
Have Tesla made this faster with over the air updates? I’m in the market for this exact model and the stock horse power is 328
Nice video but electric cars are such disgrace to automobile sector.Hope you sell it before christmas :)
Ha, thanks! Well you never know, I am quite fickle when it comes to cars 😉
Agree on big 3 EV vehicles.
But there are other American EV mfrs
SUV’s are the real disgrace. Ugly, inefficient and driven by chutney farmers.
@@thomaswilson2917lol what does that even mean?
@@lancevance6794 explain what?
I think EV Audi are not good for road trips
