First off many thanks for this, I followed step by step after taking my sticks out of the box for the first time.
It didn't work straight away for me, I think you may have made a mistake!!!!!! (I think)
After following along - I selected a WarBRD base and aN Aplha grip at 7:16 I pressed [Save VPC Device] I got the loading bar, when that finished it stayed still for a few seconds and then it seemed to upload for a few secs, then the picture grip changed back to the original default joystick that was shown on start up!
Anyway, I went to calibrate all my axis as you explained, but my Alpha's extra axis were not detected... the small joy, the lever and the twist.
(I followed along again three times and got the same results - about this time I was full of dread and thought I had a faulty stick)
after checking your instructions a fourth instead of clicking on [Save VPC Device] I first clicked on [Create new profile] then [Save VPC device]
I think your way worked fine FOR YOU because all the time you were working in an old profile, but for some one LIKE ME setting up the first time I had not yet set up a profile.
Does this make sense? if not just delete my post please.
Again, many thanks again anyway, I have a load of your Virpil tutorials queued up to watch after this

I've done everything the wrong way from the start. Connected two devices at once (throttle and base+stick), flashed them that way, profiled and calibrated. Luckily nothing wrong happened and everything works like a charm, but I'll remembet to do this right way next time... Thanks for that info. Now I see it is an official info on Virpil page. Honestly, I was impressed how nice and intuitive that process was... now I was looking for some tutorial about the software and BANG :)

thank you for your clear exposition. With your help, I configured a VPC throttle MT-50CM3 so that the 'flaps' lever results in 5 different button presses. I double clicked on the axis that the flap lever represents (axis name rZ in my case) At the bottom of the window is the 'Axis to button (predefined ranges) tickboxes. I tick off the 5 to the right to get 5 new virtual buttons. At this point I have to 'Save to VPC device'. This is necessary to allow the software to actually create the 5 new physical buttons. After saving to device I see 5 new physical buttons , 73-77. I then created 5 new virtual buttons in the 'Logical setup map' to the right in the 'Buttons' dialog. I did this by double clicking on a 'blank' line and changing the physical button number to one of the new physical buttons created after the previous 'save to VPC device'. Only after 'saving to VPC device' again will these 5 new buttons be available in VPC Joy tester.

If my joystick and throttle are working good, should i not update the firmware? I am always of the contingent that it's best to leave well enough alone. But you are so good at all of this that I thought i would ask. I also have the #1 control panel on order and once that comes in I would assume I'm going to have to go in and do some changes so perhaps I should wait for that. It's on backorder and there's no anticipated target ship date on it. I have a feeling they are a bit behind on production. Also, when control panel #2 comes out , I want to be first in line for that....do you know when we can anticipate that? The more Virpil , the better. Subscribed !! Lastly, when do you think they will write a new firmware that allows the colored buttons to be controlled by color and function individually. So each one would have an independent push that would light a color for "RED" off / "GREEN" on for just one button. And for example, let's say that i wanted to have a button yellow for Yaw Damper "ON" and when pushing the Yellow button, it would turn YAW DAMPER to the "OFF" position

Many thanks for this tutorial Havoc. It helped me out really well at the time I bought my first Virpil stick. My current problem is slightly different and I could use some expert guidance. I bought a new computer and want to transfer existing Virpil hotas setup and bindings for DCS from the old to the new computer. I was thinking this could be simply done by export (.xml) of the existing profile from the old setup and import of profile into the new computer. However, somehow it's not working. Maybe this is due to the fact that the new computer uploaded a newer (latest) Virpil software version. Do you have or know of some tutorial that deals with this specific topic of transfering existing setups from one onto the next computer?

    • @HavocCompanyClan
      @HavocCompanyClan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes its very simple, unplug your virpil equipment from PC1 .. then plug it into PC2, all settings etc are storing inside the Virpil device itself, you dont need to mess with the vpc config software once your device is configured

@@Scoop1_1 The newer firmware from virpil changes the VID/PID which makes windows think it is a completely differnt joystick device, DCS and oter games use a GUID to identify devices, your virpil joystick might have GUID = X on PC1 , but when you move it to PC2 windows gvies it a different GUID = Y , this might mean DCS for example doesnt keep your bindings, this is one of the many reasons I use joystick gremlin, there is a VIrpil util to change GUID's available on their forums if that is what is causing you issues

I follow the note from BrimStone about the NewProfile creation.
But just before that action in your installation steps, following is also important to point out ( and maybe you missed this step being a fulltime user but for a newtime user it is suprising ) !
when I launched the VPC joystick app, it rendered not with the "READY" green box, but with the "N/A" box ..... so first thoughts were : shiiiiit, installation failed somewhere.
going through all the steps again, checking my anti-virus killer was not impeding anything, etc. came to the conclusion software installation was performed perfectly, so why this "N/A" red box ... ?
went back to your video an analysed frame by frame, then I saw that you just needed to select your device from all USB listed devices and the green box appeared immediately with "READY"..... LOL !
yep, newby in Virpil alllll the way
    next step install the VPC-Throttle .... ;-)
