Fuck this. Ive always been a carburetor guy, but my wife showed up with a 96 corvette and I figured I'd give injection a shot. Im poor, in Texas so its emissions exempt and it's starting to sound like a carburetor and manifold is cheaper than gaining the ability to tune the injection I have now.
Great summary of tuning options. A few questions: 1. What wideband options do you suggest? 2. How do you log the data from the wideband O2s? 3. Maybe I misunderstood, the 411 PCM does not all “coil per cylinder?” 4. Is there an option to do a break in tune, and remote tuning with bringing the car too you for the final adjustments?
1. AEM or innovate for the wideband 2. For logging it, depends on what pcm you’re using. OBD 1, you use pin D27 for the signal and you go to pcm ground for the other. Not regular ground. 3. 0411 pcm can do single coil or coil on plug. So 4x (single coil batch fire still uses the opti but just as a distributor) Or 24x ( coil on plug. Completely eliminating the opti) 4. Like a base tune?
@@strongspeedworks Yes a break in tune would be great. I need to check a few things before I put the tune in. I was thinking of a base tune and tweeting so I could drive it up to you. I am in Dallas.
I went ahead and got the torqhead kit for when I do my heads, cam, roller rockers, etc here in a couple of months. If the computer ever takes a dump I have another regular 0411 pcm and pigtails to swap out if necessary. Can’t wait to get the trick flow heads on and get to tuning! I think she’s going to wake up nicely! 😂
I got a MOT from moe bailey about 8 yrs ago. Car runs good but I still get evap codes. Ever ran into that? It’s a 97. He sent me an entire computer with the tune. I kept the stock computer stock and put it away.
I'll be contacting you sometime later this year to get my 95 Z28 tuned. It already has a tune on it from years ago that Ian sultan at mad Z28 did for me. But it needs to be leaned out. I have tunercat for the OBD1. The not locked vin # version. Im probably the last person with it. Lol

What is the best option if it craps out and for current tuning options? It almost seems like buying a variable Fuel Pressure Regulator and using a wide-band to get the wide open fueling to the 12-12.8 range is the way to go since it’s just going to be a track car. Does that seem like a viable option?
If I plan on adding a procharger in near future would it be better to get it tuned N/A first then add procharger and get retuned or just hold off and give you the whole list all at once to tune.

A majority of the time I don’t datalog the wideband. I just have the customer tell me what it reads at wot or whatever. 99% of the time that’s totally fine. But if you do, you’ll run it to the pcm to a blank port and log it that way.
Hey man, within the next few months I’ll begin swapping an lt1 350 into a single cab c1500. It’s got the harness, ecm and trans all together. I don’t know what year (or car) it came from, so I’ll find that out soon as I go pick it up. (It’s at a good friend of my dads, it was given to me in a trade deal). Your local parts store with a lifetime warranty. They all have an AIP brand sensor in them now.
Regarding the wideband for data logging, does that run into the pcm like a stock o2 or does it require a separate gadget?

For some reason the 96/97 PCM’s are better with big stalled cars. Many of the 95 and older PCM’s had what’s known as “stall wall”.
It’s not better. You uncheck error 24 in the tune on the obd1 pcm.
