    I went online racing yesterday in Long Beach and it was raining on part of the track and dry on another part and that was changing. When the rain stopped, the track dried differently in different parts of the track. Very immersive.

    AMS2's the only sim I play now. It's got great visuals, good performance, and a great variety of cars and tracks. I think Reiza's definitely got a good niche, and they're building on and improving the work SMS did. I guess with ACC's popularity that GT cars are the fashion currently, so AMS2 won't be appealing if you're not into old formula cars or club-level racing, and official licensing is certainly a draw to other sims as well.

      Physics are really hit or miss for me with AMS2, but the variety of tracks and cars included is enough that I keep it in my rotation.
      Hopefully it will turn out amazing and they are constantly working on improving it so it's not impossible, it will probably never reach the level of ACC though purely because A: they have a lot more cars to focus on rather than just 2 classes for ACC and B: it's unlikely that they can get as much information on said cars as Kunos can as an official licensed project who works with current drivers of GT3s.

    Great update. With the help of custom FFB files from the forum it's a good driving experience. I spent a couple of hours switching back and forth between AMS, AC and ACC, overall i find AMS 2 physics much too bouncy. I'd love it more if it was a bit smoother, some of the bounciness doesn't really make sense. This doesn't apply to Formula cars in AMS2 which are super smooth in contrast. I do find it easier to catch slides in AMS 2. The DPI at Daytona is really awesome, but i must have killed my tyres after 4 laps, as my FFB was rattling hard!

    I so want to like AMS2, just reinstalled and fiddled with it to match my triples for a looong time to get a decent result (it's a pain in you know where). But my real gripe is the driving experience. The throttle is super aggressive, the cars all over the place. Also the steering ratios are a mystery to me. That said, it might all be me, so: advice appreciated ;)

    • @rohitshanker2110
      @rohitshanker2110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you could use some tuning. I legit spent a few good hours setting it up to my liking but once I got it right, it felt very much along the lines of rF2. As of the cars, the default setups are wrong for a few of them and that throws me off at times. For example, McLaren 720s has super long 1st gear. As you said, the steering ratios seem off too. But then again, it all comes down to tuning the sim settings + tuning the cars. Give it a couple of hours and fiddle with the settings, it will get there.
      I just want Reiza to update their default setups.

    • @ettoresapienzamaddriver876
      @ettoresapienzamaddriver876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steering ratios like you call them aren't steering ratio, but rather steering lock (as per garage description) which works exactly the opposite. Higher values = more direct steering. Maybe that is what is throwing you off balance?

    • @MikiLaggard
      @MikiLaggard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ettoresapienzamaddriver876 Brainfart, I meant steering 'range', as it is called in Simucube CT. With 900 and 'game-will-do-the-rest'-expectation you feel like steering a cruise-ship, so I went for 540° which is a good average usually. Not perfect for all cars (esp. not karts ;) ) but a compromise. Cars are still not willing to turn in, then snap in and then you fight oversteer. The super aggressive throttle doesn't help here either. Adjusting the sensitivity - as far as I understand it - is not the way, since it gives you a linear approach only with the 50 adjustment. I calibrated wheel and brakes severeal times. I should add that I am not a newbie. 1000h in ACC , over 400h in R3E etc. No problems in any other sim with my setup.

    • @ettoresapienzamaddriver876
      @ettoresapienzamaddriver876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikiLaggard the thing is you should set your range to auto and the sim will always adapt to the car you are driving because obviously the range varies by car. I have a DD so not sure how the Simucube guys are setting it, you may want to check the Reiza forum to find someone with your same setup to share details. Once you are done with that cars do turn in properly and steering wheel input for typical GT cars for example are in a logical range of 45-90 degrees for medium speed corners. And yes compared to other sims like ACC you can't floor the gas which makes sense, you need to actually drive the car and not sit on the TC. Same with ABS: you still need to modulate braking, cause unlike ACC you won't be able to turn in the car sitting on ABS because not locking up doesn't mean you have spare room for as much lateral loading as you would want.

    sure, ams2 has great visuals and weather implementation.
    but, too much variety between content, it seems there is standard and premium cars/tracks. the driving experience is still very weird to say the least, ffb is also...weird. it just doesn't feel natural how cars behave, countersteer always end in this sort of auto-center feel with no further dynamics involved, f1 cars are literally on rails and just wrong. I appreciate the effort made by Reiza to constantly improve this title, even though it always feels half-finished.

    I just got into sim racing this month and bought AC first due to it's modding community, and I have enjoyed it the past couple weeks. My main draw is MINI Coopers and so I got Pessio's beautiful versions. Once I learned that AMS2 had first party MINIs I had to get it. The JCW has been what I've driven so far and it feels a bit better than in AC. The sound is better as well, and the integrated weather options are much better than having use a mod. I know GT racing is the fad right now, but I prefer club and touring cars because slower cars are more fun imo. I will be trying out the Formula Vee out next as those little open wheel cars look like a lot of fun!

    I have been playing ACC, then AMS2 when it came out, then recently got back into ACC. Hopped on yesterday at Spa to compare the two titles in GT3 and noticed there seemed to be a borderline insane amount of grip in AMS2 compared to ACC. It seems like ACC you need much better control to keep it on track, where AMS2 on Spa seemed like i needed to just turn in and send it. Unfortunately i don't own a GT3 car to compare, but ACC still felt like what i "thought" a race car would be like. Would love other thoughts on it...

    • @ettoresapienzamaddriver876
      @ettoresapienzamaddriver876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bet no one has ever driven them, but GT3s aren't that edgy cars. They are designed to drive for up to 24H with a crew of three different drivers with different tastes and styles. If they were so hard to keep on track nobody would finish the race (example given: 24 Hrs of Spa 2020 when drivers faced a lot of changing conditions but very few lost control). I wouldn't fall for the equation difficult = more realistic. Personally I think the new update has unlocked a bit more of a natural behavior at the limit and I find the current GT3s very much a credible simulation.

    • @OGZxK1LL3R
      @OGZxK1LL3R 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Most characteristics feel good in AMS2, but the cars are on rails. Too much grip. No race car driver, but ACC seems to be more realistic in terms of grip and even when compared to a real life onboard. You literally have to try to lose the rear in AMS2. Honestly almost feels like there is Traction Control still on in ams2, even when turned to 0.

      Did you have all of the assists turned on? GTEs should only have TC. If you set assists to Authentic in the menu, it'll be correct.

    Sounds like a very polished version of PC2 to be fair

    I think, the sim gets better and better. But all in all: rF2 is the place to be for me personally. AMS 2 feels to soft for me. Everything seems, like the car is driving on rails. The car does not feel alive in comparison to rf2. It gets better and better, but i think, i won´t get the level of immersion, that ams1 (!), rf1 and rf2 has in every single lap i drive.
    ACC for me is something in between. It´s great, too. It feels better than AMS2 for me, but it is not able to compete with sims, that have a better FFB and phsysics.

      Complete opposite experience for me. rF2 is the dullest sim I've ever driven (and the only one I have actually uninstalled), even more so than ACC which I love for its online racing and overall polish... but not for the driving experience. Amazing how different we can all perceive the same sims, depending on taste, setups, etc.

      @@BroncosArg you’ve judged it based on online experience and the overall game. Yes, RF2 may not be the best sim out there, but hands down, no other sim would even come close to it’s FFB and driving feel.

      @@farizshj no, I judge it based on spending two hundred hours on it racing two of my friends because one of them loves it. As far as FFB and driving feel that may be your opinion, but it's not a universal truth. I personally think rF2s FFB has been overrated for years. Maybe it was great when it came out compared to other sims but as of now there is nothing unique about it.

      @@viktorianas everybody has its favorite sim. For me, ams 2 is just a way better PC2. Iracing is completely overhyped. Acc has a very weird FFB, that delivers not enough information. PC2 was one of the worst sims for me personally. Iracing, acc, ams2, rf2,... Every sim isn't perfect. But rf2 has gets the worst "dislike" of them all, because nobody is willing to spend some time in doing some hardware setup-work and searching for a community, that is willing to drive the sim. For me, it's the best sim, because there are way less drivers out there, that are blinded by the media or the "show and shine" of a sim. There are many more fanboys of other Sims.
      Acc looks the best. R3E sounds the best. Iracing only thinks it's the best. And rfactor 2 feels the best. So it is for me personally.

    What are the AI settings in this test of yours? Because that looks so bad, just like an arcade racing game, just way too easy to outbrake the others and the punting doesn't seem to have any impact on the car. Looks very poor tbh
