Ya know, you could still do a weekly video. Talk to us about some of the pieces you haven't yet figured out what to do with, or anything wood and turning related. How to fix mistakes, maybe, or your philosophy about how wood enriches our lives. Keep us posted and don't leave us wondering. Let us accompany your journey!
@@calmwoodcreations3709 Good idea. Phil can start with a “ What would you do with this piece of wood?”(using “Phil’s methods of wood turning”, of course). 😜
I know I would watch Phil read shampoo labels, Betty Crocker cookbooks, The Encyclopedia Brittanica (Do they even have those anymore? 🤔). I guess what I'm sayin' is, pretty much anything. 😉
Hi Phil. Sorry for this, you said not comment on it. I hope you understand why I had to by my comments. I have had 26 chemo sessions, 4 radiation sessions and two surgeries. I am still turning bowls and watching shady acres TH-cam Chanel. In my seventh year of remission. You will do fine and you will be fine. What you have is the right attitude . Welcome to the cancer survivor club! By the way the bowl was beautiful! Looking forward for the coming weeks of shady acre turnings,
God Bless you my friend. I too survived Cancer back in 2004. I've bee cancer free since and I'll be 72 this year. This turn is surely plum nice as always... Take care
Phil, I am a Cancer survivor. You will be, too. Don't get down if you don't feel like doing videos during Chemo. We love it when you're here, and we won't let you down if you need more personal time. I'm praying for all the best for you.
Beautiful Bowl Phil!! And even if you don't feel like turning, maybe you could just drop by to say hi! And tell you loyal subjects,...err followers, how you're doing, and tell them to follow your favorite woodturners! Love you lots Phil ❤️ Heather 🇨🇦
Phil, there are certain people in this world who have friends, lots of friends. Friends that care and wish the best for those WE like. You my friend are one of those people. Look, bad things happen to good people, that's just life. What is important, for you right now is, there are people all over this world who care about YOU. If you can not make videos for a while, SO WHAT. Your health is far more important, to US, than a wood turning video. I, and I think I can say WE, only ask is that you let us know if you shut down for a while, so that we don't worry, too much, and maybe a little up date now and then You do what is necessary to get better, that comes first. Get 100% well real soon. ;-)
It’s so good to watch a woodturning channel that actually talks through the technical choices, stops the spin regularly to see what is happening and is not utterly obsessed with garish resin combinations on every piece of naturally beautiful wood.
This video is about 2 years old and I had not yet started watching and learning to turn myself. At the time I was going through treatment for colon cancer myself. Now I’m Aug of 2024, I am healthy and cancer free and I hope you are too!! I love watching your videos and enjoy turning pieces of similar style with live edges, bark and inclusions. Thank you for the inspiration you’ve given me! This was a beautiful piece, as usual!!
Your loyal subscribers are all here for ya, Phil! Never forget that, no matter what, we are here for *you*! Your turnings come second. P. S.: The rhody chunk should be in your mailbox tomorrow.
You got this! My fam has a long history of different kinds of cancer - so I can confidently say the you are doing the right thing! You take care of you first!! We'll be here for you even if you don't put out a video for months or years... you are your number 1 priority right now! You have a fabulous day! Love the turning and totally love this bowl!!!
I didn't know all the illness and cancer you've been dealing with. Thank God you're on the mend and back in the saddle again. Health, home & happiness. ❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸
My husband and I are two old folks who are not woodworkers, but LOVE to watch you work your lathe and carving tools, always amazed at what you help us see with every finished piece of art. It goes to show you that every piece of wood you ‘work’ is in good hands. And speaking of good hands, from all your faithful fan’s comments, and all the prayers being said on your behalf, it looks like you can count yourself as someone who is also in good hands and very much loved. Be good to yourself in the days and weeks (?) ahead. We’ll see you soon!
Well I am going to comment Phil. Jeez, master turner and now master of suspense. Ok the bowl is a master peice and I love the cherry plum. In fact I'm envious the wide variety of wood you have to turn. Thank you for another great piece. Now, I for one do not expect a reply from you and you need not feel obligated. On that same note, none of us can expect you to keep turning and producing videos if you don't feel up to it. It will be a great void but we will survive. I for one will miss you but...take care of Phil! I will pray for you and I'm so surprised you've been thru all this so far. And I do hope you can continue to do what you love to do!
I know you asked not to comment on the cancer but,Lol, I just went through just about the same thing last fall. They took a chunk of lung then chemo but as of now I'm cancer free. My point is, you've inspired me to get up and back groovin. I bought a lathe after seeing your turnings and I've been having a blast. Thank you. You'll get through this and be back in the shop soon. And everyone please get screened, It saved my life.
Hey Phil. I am a praying man, and I will absolutely add you yo my prayer list. This is my favorite channels. It is so relaxing. You do what you have to do to get healthy. I am so happy that you beat Cancer and that God pulled you through. You will be fine eventually. We all love you and are sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
Phil, a wood worker takes an ugly piece of wood, cuts away the ugly parts and the unnecessary parts, shapes, sands and polishes the necessary parts, and the result is a beautiful piece of wood. God has a way of helping remove our ugly parts/unnecessary parts and shapes, sands and polishes the rest. And God completes His work, you know what is left. God bless, my friend.
That is a lovely piece Phil! Another master piece. I wanted to tell you that my nephew was diagnosed with brain cancer at 4 years old. After a couple of brain surgeries and chemo he celebrated this week that he has been cancer free for 21 years. No matter what happens we will be here when you feel up to the task of turning for us. Have a fantastic day.
Phil…. I’m truly sorry to hear about your cancer. I wish you the best as you go through your treatment. Focus on your well being and if you can do a video, fine. If not, we will certainly understand and will be hear when you can. Thanks to you and a couple of other turners I have my first lathe and I find your videos to be so inspirational. I now have a whole new appreciation for what you do! Focus on your health and do what you can do in the shop….. we’ll always be here for you. Best of luck Phil.
THANK YOU PHIL...Late again because of work. I cannot say enough how much I enjoy Thursdays after work sitting down putting my tired feet up and watching Shady Acres Woodshop!!! Phil your videos are NEVER too long for this Tuffy. Loooonger the better!!! .... I love what you do with that Cherry Plum wood. It is always difficult to find a good, solid, rot free, crack free, piece of Plum. The piece you just turned is about as good as it gets and you certainly made the most of it..... YES I heard the rainfall and I wish it was falling on my roof in this drying up Calif. Bay Area!!!!!... Phil your turnings are always FUN, UNIQUE and ENTERTAINING. When ever you are able to post a turning you know I will always be sitting here with eager anticipation. Phil your future holds many, many more adventures than you can imagine and I for one am looking forward to ALL your shows. Until next time Phil. Stay safe, (do what your Dr. says) and ALWAYS STAY POSITIVE because that is the only option there is ....right????.....Take Care My Friend....Tuffy Marginez (JM)
Good morning,. Cancer Sucks! Phil the beauty of the pieces you turn bring nature to life. As one cancer survivor to a future survivor, YOU GOT THIS. My prayers are with you and I look forward to seeing you. You could always show us some of your earlier work and help us with questions. God will be by your side, we will all be praying for you, and your life will continue to be blessed and highly favored. Stay safe and blessed! 💜💜💜
It’s easy to see why you love cherry plum. Another beautiful piece. When we were watching another of your older videos earlier this week, something occurred to me that you and my wife and I seem to have in common - a somewhat Japanese view of perfection and beauty. In traditional Japanese craft (as I understand it, being pure-bred European British) nothing is beautiful or perfect unless it has some sort of imperfection. That’s part of why we love your work - you keep the cracks, bug holes, whatever, and turn them into things to enjoy, things that make every one of your pieces something individual and special. If you make the videos, we will (eventually) watch them. If you don’t, we’ll understand and wait for you to be back.
@Ian Gordon I love watching Phil's videos. His whole approach is inspirational. I'm a fairly new wood turner and I tend to do things the same way as he does. He gave me the confidence to take the path less traveled. Put another way he validates those of us who put emphasis on nature's natural beauty.
@Ian Gordon.......I have told Phil that I was speaking to a friend about his style of turning and I call him the Master of perfectly imperfect creations concentrating on the natural beauty of the wood & preserving it in pieces! I think that's what I said but not a perfect quote but you get the idea...lol 😆
The amount of replies that I have gotten back from Phil, amazes me. But more than that, thanks for making such wonderful videos, your gentle soul shines through and makes every single one special. I appreciate your efforts, and I absolutely love it when bark and natural features become the emphasis in a piece of wood art, you can't ever beat the variety of what just grows there on its own. 😊
God bless you. Just know that God is with you . I had stage 4 colon cancer that spread to my limp nods , appendix, gall bladder and liver. Best surgeon I could of asked for. And been in remission for 8 years now. God saved my life. Just wanted to share with you. And that you are not alone .
Hi Phil i have been there i olso had cancer i had radiation and chemo by the grace of God i am healed completely, all i can say is always be positive and go on with your turning dont let anything get you under. I am following from South Afrika.
Hey Phil, lovely bowl as ever. Really love those live edges. Whenever you feel like spending time in the shop, you know we'll always be with you, watching the creations.
Hello Phil, I am new to the art of wood turning but I can say this much: It is very heartwarming to see the camaraderie among wood turners. I feel that I am among friends. I have not yet seen all of your videos but I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of your videos that I have seen. I have learned from you and I thank you. This turning is beautiful. Keep it up. I look forward to many more!
I’ve also found the various communities of turners on TH-cam exactly as you describe. It is a great bunch of people to interact with. Best of luck to you as you get into this hobby. You have certainly picked a terrific person to follow for this kind of turning; Phil is both educational and inspirational and a heck of a lot of fun to watch.
Phil, you are the reason I became interested in woodturning, it was one of your root ball videos that changed my perception on what wood turning can be and although you don’t think you’re an artist you are you either have an eye for it or you don’t and you surely do, and I really like how you interact with us fans. Thanks!!
and another great point.. his interaction with us fans gives it more of a family environment.. it's like going to a relative's house and seeing what they have been up to.. a really great comment, I agree completely..
I’m going to be 70 this year. Only a number. Starting turning a month ago. Found you a month ago. Like your attitude. Learned a lot. Belong to a group called the saw mill in Happy Trails Arizona. Lot of great guys and help. Keep up the good work. Dave
I’m one of your loyal subscribers. We’re there for you. Love all your turnings. This one in particular is gorgeous. Most of my turning style is modeled after your instruction and repetition. I’ve been turning for little over a year. Thank you.
I bought a used lathe last year and had to put my first attempt at turning due to neck issues that led to a neck fusion. My hubby decided it was a good time to change up the smallish garage that is attached to the house and turn it into a "shop". I am looking forward to it being finished. I have to buy a new power switch for the lathe and it should be here in a week or so. Uncle Hil was my inspiration and gave me the desire to be a turner. I wish Phil, you, all other turners (even us wannabes) all the best luck and keep watching Phil and his great talent. Turn on !!
Beautiful piece as usual Phil! Yes indeed...we do love you and rest assured you are in my prayers. Look forward to videos whenever you are able. The most important thing is that you take care of you.
Thank you for the beautiful piece of cherry plum. your work is always Art. Thank you for taking the time to help teach all of us to appreciate the world around us.
Hi Phil - I think I enjoyed watching this as much as you enjoyed making it! I look forward every week to watching a number of makers videos - like people have favourite TV shows. I confess I love the Phil Anderson Show haha - I love your presentations and always beautiful turnings - and good old Tuffy always comes up with the goods too! I loved this piece, Cherry Plum is a really beautiful tree while it stands and you do justice to it as it's fallen. I wish you the very best - I just want you to know it's good to see you - and there's no need to reply at all. Have a great week Phil - thanks for the videos!
Phil, you take care of yourself, mate! In your inevitable dark moments, remember that you have a lot of people whose lives you’ve enhanced who are with you in spirit if not body and we all wish you well.
I'd love to hear about the wood you have standing by for turning. I don't know a lot about wood species, but I bet you do🤩. That cherry plum is delicious!
Beautiful piece Phil , glad your back , thank you for sharing your struggle with all of your followers. I know you dont consider yourself a teacher but in your special way you are , not just in turning but how to deal with life God bless you Phil .
Your work is always beautiful 😍 I’m not a wood turner but I love your videos. I found you when I was first diagnosed with lung cancer. My prayers are with you 💕💕💕
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop Unfortunately when we found it in 2017 it was already at stage 4. I’ll be doing chemo until the end. On the good side my treatments don’t have to many side effects. Sometimes I forget that I’m sick. Keep doing what you’re doing until you can’t and don’t forget to ask for help when you are weak. Lots of people love you 🥰🥰🥰
I have a habit of commenting to help the channel. I dont expect a response to every one and when its a bigger channel im surprised if i get a reply from the creator. That you still take the time to do so is something special. God bless you and yours.
Hi Phil! I have enjoyed all your videos, and I do look forward to Thursday afternoons to see what delights you will be creating. This indeed is a stunning piece with gorgeous coloring and grain. As far as your illness struggles, you are facing them openly and with an open mind and a strong heart. Everybody reacts differently so you are spot on not to automatically buy into feeling lousy. You do what you feel you can when you can. We will understand. Sending you nothing but good vibes and great results. Take care. 💗💖
Hi Phil. I have been a loyal view and subscriber for years. It's funny how you feel like a friend to me, even though we've never met; I'm sure all your viewers feel the same way. You share so much of yourself and your talent. I am a woodturner today because of watching your magic and wanting to capture a piece of that. My health isn't what I'd wish it were, and I find the words of Julian or Norwich helpful: 'All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." We're rooting for you!
Hi Phil. Well from all your videos that I have watched and that is most if not all, I always love the cherry plum turnings. Truely amazing wood!! Love the color and the bark. Another turning you brought the best out of. Hang in there with the treatments, be strong, stay well. We all love you. See you in the next video.
Phil, You're like one of your pieces: beautiful grained wood, fine interesting bark, and even a few inclusions, voids, maybe even CA-filled cracks here and there, but the whole makes this world a more beautiful place. Get through this thing well and quickly, with your beautiful spirit intact!
Phil, I just wanted to say that your videos helped me through the grief of losing my mother to Ovarian cancer so your words felt especially poignant to me. You've got this licked, I know it! 😊
Phil, I too am a wood turner. I turn all types of stuff. I am always amazed by your profound talent and vision. You are one of my inspirations for what to turn and how. Hang in there, you will be just fine. With your grit and determination, I am sure that this too shall pass. Our prayers and hearts are with you!!!
New to your channel as of last week. Of all the woodturning channels yours is the best. It's refreshing to have someone explain what they're doing and why they're doing it. Your love for wood and life comes through in every video. It's very refreshing. I'd never heard of Plum Cherry until today. Beautiful work as usual.
Dearest Phil, I am sorry to hear about your struggles and also very proud of you because of how you're handling it. Know that what ever you decide to do, we your youtube family will be hear for you no matter whether you turn something for us or just pop in with advice / show us your top 5 favourite turns / your weirdest turns / top 5 fails / explanation on every tool you use - how it works (I'm not a turner so don't know anything) / or just a chit chat on the weather etc. You can if you want also if you have time do a couple extra turns a week and use them for when you're not able to. As I said earlier what ever you decide on, we'll love and appreciate. If it's ok we'll add you to our prayer list. You're part of the family and hope you know we will be here for you. This was another stunning piece! Thank you for sharing. Take care! Big hugs from New Zealand
Tell your doctor that you have your viewers, however most importantly, you have a huge power of will and desire to turn many more beautiful pieces! You will be doing that !
I love your channel Phil. I’ve watched your videos for a long time and will continue to watch them whenever you post. Please know that I wish you the best in your personal life. Take care, my friend. The plum bowl is outstanding.❤️😊
That is gorgeous Phil! I love how you honor the wood and strive to make the most of the natural beauty. And always succeed! You take care and we are all here for you. If you aren't able to keep to your normal schedule, we totally understand. Stay positive!
Tuffy does all of us a wonderful favor supplying you with this beautiful cherry plum wood. And you do us all a favor by bringing out the beauty of this gift from Mother Nature. Just beautiful!🎉
Phil, please keep the videos coming. The wood turning is secondary. It'll keep you busy thinking of stuff to say each week, especially if you don't get time to actually spin any wood :) ! I've viewed many other turners channel, but you're the only one I watch regularly and every time you release a new one. You have taught me LOADS about turning 'fugly' bits of wood. I do all my parting the same way you do. Stay strong Sir! :) x
Hey Phil, I am new to woodturning and I have learned so much from you. I appreciate your amazing skill and your humble easy-going nature. At 3am when I can't sleep, I find joy in watching you craft something beautiful again. I also appreciate how you are willing to share mistakes, corrections, re-thinking stuff because it's how we learn. Thanks for being an inspiration to all of us. You are in my prayers for a speedy recovery.. Have a great day.
Phil, I here-by do not allow you to age anymore!!!!!!! Turners around the world NEED! NEED!!!! your video's! I have never been more inspired by anyone else! Love you, your comments while turning, and your humor! You are one of a kind! Keep turning Phil!
Phil, another gorgeous bowl in the history books. Amazing work. God's blessings and prayers for you for an easy transit through your treatments. Been there and done that with my wife and want you to know that we will be lifting you up in our prayers for your needs to be met by the Faithful One.
Phil, I would have to say that this oblong bowl has me floored. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love it. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. We all love and care about you! You will and have been in my prayers. God bless you always. Your Florida friend, Dotty. ❤😎🙃
That is an amazing piece of wood that tuffy sent you Phil. And of course you made it into the best version of itself that it could be. Wonderful bark and a wonderful finish. Only thing I can not figure out is why you didn't turn a piece of concrete instead....it would have been easier LOL You know how I feel so I will just say take care yourself first my friend, Gary
Another beautiful piece "in the books." Thanks for sharing. Hang in there, buddy. Looking forward to seeing lots more videos, you are my hero for turning wood that I would have thought gone to the firepit. My wife is very impressed with the "scrap pile" becoming thing that are on the mantel, all thanks to you.
Hang in there Phil! You are a true artisan! A laborer is someone who works with his hands, a craftsman works with his hands and his head and an artisan works with his hands and his head and his heart! You have a very big heart Phil and we appreciate you!
Just as expected, another beautiful bowl! It always seems like watching a miracle being performed when watching wood turning, and your pieces are pure art. If you need a break I would still be happy watching your past videos. Hopefully your treatment goes well, if you need any hats, let me know. I crochet hats for local patients here. I'll be happy to help. Stay spunky!
Definitely one of the nicest looking bowls I have seen you do. Love the grain, colors and natural bark edge. Looking forward to what you might do next as always. Thanks for sharing!
Phil love the channel! You’ve definitely given me a lot of wood turning inspiration and helped me with some techniques on how you do certain cuts when your turning. Definitely enjoy watching!
Thanks for sharing with us Phil. Not sure why but it seems like by watching we become family. Not sure if you're a praying man but we will keep you in our prayers. The cherry plumb bowl is absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful work Phil, I've never had the opportunity to turn any Cherry Plum, I especially like the hold that the bark has on it. Continued prayers for you and I along with all your fans will always be looking for the next WonderPhil Thursday!
Yet another beautiful piece Phil. You have taught a lot of us that the piece that is considered firewood can have hidden qualities and then showed how. But for all of that you seem such a nice person who doesn't deserve the issues you are having. A video from whenever is always good, your health is more important than doing yourself damage. Cheers Geoff
Love you Phil and love the piece. I know that this is a public comment section but I think it's good for me to say this. Between you and Gary my investment into this hobby is more than that to me. It's gotten me over so much on my life and I couldn't say thank you to you enough. I've told Gary that same thing a while back. This hobby has literally given me a better take on life and I thank you for being the great teacher and mentor that I needed when I needed something different to get me through. I look forward to you a few others videos every week and for that thank you. I think we all need a little inspiration every once and a while and I think I found mine. Happy turning to you my friend and good health to you with whatever you have to go through. 😊💙
I have heard of cherry wood. I have heard of plumb wood but never cherry plumb wood. The bowl turned outstanding. I love wood grain, bark and color in the wood. This piece has it all very nice. Phil I don’t know your religious beliefs but you need to know you are in my prayers. I survived prostate cancer you will get through this. There is light at the end of the tunnel. 😃
That's a really pretty piece, Phil! The wood is great, as you say, but the end result is all you 😊 We do love you Phil, thanks for making so many videos that bring me so much enjoyment.
Phil. Another really beautiful creation. I think the tree would be proud of what you were able to bring out. Again I have to tell you what an inspiration you have become to me. I think of you each time I stand at the lathe to turn something. I always pick up at least one helpful nugget with each video. I wish you the best in your coming journey, I'll keep you in my prayers. Keep on keeping on my friend.
I love your videos, but you do what you need to do! While going through chemo, take it easy & only do a video if it is therapeutic for you. No pressure or stress. We'll be here rooting for you! ❤️
Phil you are beloved! I love your videos and you do you friend. You have a whole community supporting you and your well-being. Take great care friend ❤️
What a beautiful bowl! Once again you have created a wonderful piece. I think we would enjoy any video you are feeling well enough to put out while going through this next journey. If they happen to be a bit sporadic that's ok too. As someone else posted, even if it happens to be an informational video instead of a turning video, that is perfectly fine.
Another beautiful creation. I was looking closely at the inside of the bowl at the end and your finish is impeccable i really try to get my turnings that smooth and tool mark free but i have a long way to go. Thanks again for your time and gracious sharing of knowledge!
Stunningly beautiful as always Phil, this piece spoke to you, in its finest whispers, i'm sure, destined and crafted by your hands into a glorious piece of art. This bowl is one of my very favourite pieces you've turned, it's absolutely gorgeous, and I love everything about it. Know that you are very much loved and cared for from all aver the world Phil, and that i'm rooting for you. Take good care of yourself, and thank you for sharing your world with us here. Bless you always! 💛🫂☺
Phil... this piece was soooo beautiful! Love it! I just want to say thank you for sharing know we all think your amazing and will keep you in our thoughts! I would also say although I sure love your weekly videos as they inspire me a lot! Please don’t worry if you can’t put out a video every week we will understand. And if thats the case I think we should e mail you pictures of our projects that you inspire us to create. Just know I appreciate all you do! Best wishes Mike.....
This seems like one of your best bowls yet, don’t you think? Thanks for the inspiring videos; they have had a lot of impact on my own turning. I imagine there are a lot of woodturners out there when looking at a piece of wood and scratching their head they are thinking, we’ll how would Phil do it?
Phil, 5 months on now and trust you are doing well. I want to thank you for your reply to my comments. As a 90 year old lady just to tell you how I must appreciate your videos. My friends husband 20 years ago made me a standard lamp to thank mme for helping collect wood from the New Forest Hampshire UK. 20 years on now and watching you turning has brought back good memories! I would love to be able to do my own turning but don’t have facilities suitable. Never mind, thank you for all you do Phil, God bless 👍👍👍👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰
I love how you talk to us like we’re in your shop
You mean... you're not? 😊

What a fantastic idea.
Hi Phil. Sorry for this, you said not comment on it. I hope you understand why I had to by my comments. I have had 26 chemo sessions, 4 radiation sessions and two surgeries. You have been my teacher for a long time now. You have helped me become an artist of sorts and I can't thank you enough.
Sincere regards

Very well said. 🙏👍
It’s so good to watch a woodturning channel that actually talks through the technical choices, stops the spin regularly to see what is happening and is not utterly obsessed with garish resin combinations on every piece of naturally beautiful wood.
Virginia, in the words of the Partridge Family, "I think I love you!" LOL! Truly, I appreciate your comment, it means a lot to me, thank you! 😊
I am a cancer survivor as well. I kicked cancers ass and so will you.
That is a very nice bowl.
🙏 God speed on your recovery.

New day, new cancer... Thank you, Tex! 😊
Thank you, Scott! 😀 Cancer free as far as I know. I gotta have another scan in October.

😊
Just knowing you're reading this is more than enough. Go forward Prince of Wood Turning.
Thank you, Whit! 😊
I didn't know all the illness and cancer you've been dealing with. Thank God you're on the mend and back in the saddle again.
Health, home & happiness. ❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸
I'm getting there, thanks, Jessi! 😊
Thank you to you folks, I appreciate the positive comment! 😊
Thank you much, Steve! I have a lot to be thankful for! 😊
Well said! And good for you! What wood do you like the most? Mine is nut wood, just about any type of nut, like me. 🤪 😉
Thank you, Randy and congrats on the victory and on your new hobby! 😊
Thank you so much, Keith! 😊
Thank you so much! 😊
❤️
😊
Thank you, David! 😊
Positive wins every time, Tuffy! Thank you for your generosity and continued support, my friend! 😊
You are so kind, Jo Ann, thank you! 😊
Your viewers will be here. Heal yourself and don't push it. We'll be waiting.
😊
Thank you for sharing, Phil. We’ll all being sending good vibes. You come through looking as smooth and good as this piece of cherry plum! :)
😊
Thanks to you and your wife, Ian! 😊
Exactly, William. I think leaving some bark, inclusions, cracks etc. just tell us the piece was once alive and now look at it shine! 😊
God bless you. Just know that God is with you . I had stage 4 colon cancer that spread to my limp nods , appendix, gall bladder and liver. Best surgeon I could of asked for. And been in remission for 8 years now. God saved my life. Just wanted to share with you. And that you are not alone .
Thank you, Coleen! 😊
Hi Phil i have been there i olso had cancer i had radiation and chemo by the grace of God i am healed completely, all i can say is always be positive and go on with your turning dont let anything get you under. I am following from South Afrika.
Thank you, Robert! 😊
Hey Phil, lovely bowl as ever. Really love those live edges. Whenever you feel like spending time in the shop, you know we'll always be with you, watching the creations.
I'll second that statement.
😊
Thank you, Martin and welcome to our club! 😊
Phil, you are the reason I became interested in woodturning, it was one of your root ball videos that changed my perception on what wood turning can be and although you don’t think you’re an artist you are you either have an eye for it or you don’t and you surely do, and I really like how you interact with us fans. Thanks!!
Same here, 100%.
and another great point.. his interaction with us fans gives it more of a family environment.. it's like going to a relative's house and seeing what they have been up to.. a really great comment, I agree completely..
I love knowing that someone has become a woodturner because of watching my videos. That's wonderful, thank you! 😊
I’m going to be 70 this year. Only a number. Starting turning a month ago. Found you a month ago. Like your attitude. Learned a lot.
Belong to a group called the saw mill in Happy Trails Arizona. Lot of great guys and help.
Keep up the good work. Dave
Phil,
I really enjoy your vidoes.
If the chemo slows you down, we will be here when you are ready.
I will keep you in my prayers.
😊
Sorry to hear about your sickness. Prayers good luck
😊
Turn on !!
😊
A shop can be a sanctuary. Enjoy! 😊
Beautiful piece as usual Phil! Yes indeed...we do love you and rest assured you are in my prayers. Look forward to videos whenever you are able. The most important thing is that you take care of you.
😊
Thank you for the beautiful piece of cherry plum. your work is always Art. Thank you for taking the time to help teach all of us to appreciate the world around us.
😊
Sorry Phil, I have to comment. Just to say all the best with it all. Thanks for sharing.
😊
I understand why you love this wood so much....it's gorgeous!
And you go do what you need to do for your health. With you in spirit.
🙏😉❤
😊
Phil All good 👍 and it will continue to be good. The bowl is perfect 🤩 the grain and finish has been captured by your turning skills. 👀
😊
Phil, beautiful work as always. My prayers are with you.
Much appreciated, David, thank you! 😊
You are too kind, thank you! 😊
We watch more TH-cam videos than we watch regular TV. My wife really likes Phil!
Phil, you take care of yourself, mate! In your inevitable dark moments, remember that you have a lot of people whose lives you’ve enhanced who are with you in spirit if not body and we all wish you well.
Thank you, Jay! 😊
You will be in our prayers for strength each day.
😊
I'd love to hear about the wood you have standing by for turning. I don't know a lot about wood species, but I bet you do🤩. That cherry plum is delicious!
😊
Beautiful piece Phil , glad your back , thank you for sharing your struggle with all of your followers. I know you dont consider yourself a teacher but in your special way you are , not just in turning but how to deal with life God bless you Phil .
Thanks for listening, Ronnie! 😊
I hope you find some more of this cherry plum. I love watching you turn it. It always turns out amazing! Thank you and Tuffy for sending it to you
😊
Your work is always beautiful 😍 I’m not a wood turner but I love your videos. I found you when I was first diagnosed with lung cancer. My prayers are with you 💕💕💕
And better now, Bertie? Thank you! 😊
Thanks for that! 😊
Take care. 💗💖
😊
Thanks for the great comment! 😊
Hi Phil. Well from all your videos that I have watched and that is most if not all, I always love the cherry plum turnings. Truely amazing wood!! Love the color and the bark. Another turning you brought the best out of. Hang in there with the treatments, be strong, stay well. We all love you. See you in the next video.
Thank you, Dennis! 😊
Phil, You're like one of your pieces: beautiful grained wood, fine interesting bark, and even a few inclusions, voids, maybe even CA-filled cracks here and there, but the whole makes this world a more beautiful place. Get through this thing well and quickly, with your beautiful spirit intact!
Thank you very much! 😊
Phil, I just wanted to say that your videos helped me through the grief of losing my mother to Ovarian cancer so your words felt especially poignant to me.
You've got this licked, I know it! 😊
Sorry for your loss of your mom. Thank you!

Thanks Phil, truly.
All the best to you and yours!

Wow, thank you, John! 😊
I appreciate all the help I can get, thank you! 😊
Tell your doctor that you have your viewers, however most importantly, you have a huge power of will and desire to turn many more beautiful pieces! You will be doing that
!
Oh, trust me, I have told all my docs I have plenty to live for! I don't want them giving up on me! LOL! Thanks, Paul! 😊
"the show mast go on", hopefully for meny years to come.

I love your channel Phil. I’ve watched your videos for a long time and will continue to watch them
whenever you post. Please know that I wish you the best in your personal life. Take care, my friend. The plum bowl is outstanding.❤️😊

We wish you the best. I'm always learning something new when I watch you turn. We love your work.
I appreciate that! 😊
Tuffy does all of us a wonderful favor supplying you with this beautiful cherry plum wood. And you do us all a favor by bringing out the beauty of this gift from Mother Nature. Just beautiful!🎉
Thank you, Jonny! Cheers!😀
All I can say is stay strong Phil! 👍
😊
Love it Phil, another beauty!
Look forward to your next project. Take care.
😊
Phil, please keep the videos coming. The wood turning is secondary. It'll keep you busy thinking of stuff to say each week, especially if you don't get time to actually spin any wood :) ! I've viewed many other turners channel, but you're the only one I watch regularly and every time you release a new one. You have taught me LOADS about turning 'fugly' bits of wood. I do all my parting the same way you do. Stay strong Sir! :) x
Thank you very much, Mike! 😊
😊
Phil, I here-by do not allow you to age anymore!!!!!!!
Turners around the world NEED! NEED!!!! your video's!
I have never been more inspired by anyone else!
Love you, your comments while turning, and your humor!
You are one of a kind!
Keep turning Phil!

Phil, another gorgeous bowl in the history books. Amazing work. God's blessings and prayers for you for an easy transit through your treatments. Been there and done that with my wife and want you to know that we will be lifting you up in our prayers for your needs to be met by the Faithful One.
Thank you, Larry! 😊
Phil, I would have to say that this oblong bowl has me floored. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love it.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing. We all love and care about you! You will and have been in my prayers. God bless you always.
Your Florida friend, Dotty. ❤😎🙃
Thank you very much, Dotty! 😊
That is an amazing piece of wood that tuffy sent you Phil. And of course you made it into the best version of itself that it could be. Wonderful bark and a wonderful finish.
Only thing I can not figure out is why you didn't turn a piece of concrete instead....it would have been easier LOL
You know how I feel so I will just say take care yourself first my friend,
Gary
The dust and shavings from Cherry Plum are ingredients in concrete, Gary! LOL! At least, it sometimes feels like it. 😊 Thank you, my friend!
Excellent, thanks, Ward! 😊
Hang in there Phil! You are a true artisan! A laborer is someone who works with his hands, a craftsman works with his hands and his head and an artisan works with his hands and his head and his heart! You have a very big heart Phil and we appreciate you!
Thank you, Robert! 😊
Best of luck, Phil. Don’t stress about us. I’ll watch reruns.
😊
Just as expected, another beautiful bowl! It always seems like watching a miracle being performed when watching wood turning, and your pieces are pure art. If you need a break I would still be happy watching your past videos. Hopefully your treatment goes well, if you need any hats, let me know. I crochet hats for local patients here. I'll be happy to help. Stay spunky!
😊
Definitely one of the nicest looking bowls I have seen you do. Love the grain, colors and natural bark edge. Looking forward to what you might do next as always. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Skooch! 😊
Phil love the channel! You’ve definitely given me a lot of wood turning inspiration and helped me with some techniques on how you do certain cuts when your turning. Definitely enjoy watching!
Great to hear, Cory, thanks! 😊

Thanks for sharing with us Phil. Not sure why but it seems like by watching we become family. Not sure if you're a praying man but we will keep you in our prayers. The cherry plumb bowl is absolutely beautiful.
Thank you kindly! 😊
Beautiful work Phil, I've never had the opportunity to turn any Cherry Plum, I especially like the hold that the bark has on it. Continued prayers for you and I along with all your fans will always be looking for the next WonderPhil Thursday!
Thank you, Billy! 😊
Thank you very much, Geoff! 😊
Thank you very much, Edward! 😊
😊
God be with you. For He is our healer. I will be praying for you.
😊
That's a really pretty piece, Phil! The wood is great, as you say, but the end result is all you 😊 We do love you Phil, thanks for making so many videos that bring me so much enjoyment.
Thank you, Smugs! 😊
Another beautiful bowl! The grain is incredible! Thank you for sharing your story. Keep on keeping on! Take care. :)
😊
😊
I love your videos, but you do what you need to do! While going through chemo, take it easy & only do a video if it is therapeutic for you. No pressure or stress. We'll be here rooting for you! ❤️
😊
Phil you are beloved!
I love your videos and you do you friend. You have a whole community supporting you and your well-being.
Take great care friend ❤️
Thank you kindly, Nicole! 😊
😊
Another beautiful creation. I was looking closely at the inside of the bowl at the end and your finish is impeccable i really try to get my turnings that smooth and tool mark free but i have a long way to go. Thanks again for your time and gracious sharing of knowledge!
😊
Stunningly beautiful as always Phil, this piece spoke to you, in its finest whispers, i'm sure, destined and crafted by your hands into a glorious piece of art. This bowl is one of my very favourite pieces you've turned, it's absolutely gorgeous, and I love everything about it. Know that you are very much loved and cared for from all aver the world Phil, and that i'm rooting for you. Take good care of yourself, and thank you for sharing your world with us here. Bless you always! 💛🫂☺
Wow, thank you! 😊
I’m happy get a smiley face from you. It’s special to know that you read what we send to you with love.
😊 😊 😊
I love watching you videos. The best part is you talk and tell us what you are doing, much better then watching someone just slapping things around
Thanks a lot, Larry! I get chastised pretty often for talking too much! 😊
Phil... this piece was soooo beautiful!
Thanks so much, Mike! 😊
This seems like one of your best bowls yet, don’t you think? Thanks for the inspiring videos; they have had a lot of impact on my own turning. I imagine there are a lot of woodturners out there when looking at a piece of wood and scratching their head they are thinking, we’ll how would Phil do it?
Haha, thanks for the chuckle, Don! Thanks, too, for watching and commenting! 😊
Hello, never mind us the first priority is to yourself, keep strong. Another wonderful turning.
😊
God Bless and heal your lungs. This is a beautiful piece. Love the grain. Colors are beautiful. Have a Great Day 😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much! 😊
Maud, I can tell from your comments, you are a blessing to many! What a great memory that lamp must be of your adventures in the woods! 😊
