Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a new truck and I stuck with Chevy. I went with a 6.2L Chevy Silverado Z71 Trail Boss Midnight edition. Only had it for a week or so but the 6.2L V8 does not disappoint. The Trail Boss is a huge upgrade from my old 2010 silverado and so far I love it. Today we are running a few quick errands to correct a couple small things about the Trail Boss that I dont love. Mainly the exhaust and the fact that the windows aren't tinted. Definitely get that cylinder deactivation canceled, you will be much happier with your pickup, I have done it to several of mine. And you don't lose any fuel mileage in my Experience. Quite a few mechanic shops can reprogram it to delete that for around $200/$300.

Highly recommend you get the Pulsar LT to disable DFM. Added to my 21 Silverado immediately to mitigate DFM causing lifter failure. Throttle response setting at 3 is perfect.
I find it 3 choke the engine it made my truck slower on top end so i put it under 2 much quicker
I recently installed a cat-back Borla S-Type on our Night Edition RAM truck and it sounds Ah-Maz-Ing! I honestly can’t believe how quiet your exhaust is.

I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 6.2L with Brola S-Type and I love it! It does sound a little too nasty on the cold start up (aka it will piss your wife and possibly an annoying neighbor who lives directly next door). The noise from the cold start will end after 15-20sec, and it comes to an awesome idle. Sounds great under power and sounds great on the Highway. It will drone while pulling a 5k lb trailer around 2.5k-3k rpm, but you can tow in Manual mode and not have a problem. You can also disable the DFM and get the best noise out of the exhaust too. Switch into Manual mode and go into 9th gear (L9).
Did this to my 2021 6.2L. Except I used a Borla ProXS muffler. Left the resonators like you.. Paired with the Pulsar LT this truck is WAY more pleasurable to drive. No DFM. No Start Stop.
Just enough growl to sound nice but no annoying in the cab on long drives.
Put a oil catch can and clean side separator on it. Also get a range disabler to disable the active fuel management system which sucks.
Gotta get that fuel management off ASAP. It’s pretty damn annoying.
Not only is the AFM annoying, they can cost you BIG TIME. My Tahoe needed a $5000 engine repair due to a stuck lifter because of it. Known problem apparently. Turn it off before it trashes your motor.
@@toms5212 Getting mixed stories about the lifter issues (which are covered under warranty BTW). Story I heard from GMC directly was there were 6 main fab machines for those lifters and one was putting out sub par parts for about a year before they caught it and took it out of production. May be a cover up for the AFM/DFM thing but there is other supporting evidence out there. Still the best looking trucks out there in 2020/21.
@@chadatchley6705 my Tahoe is a 2015. Was out of warranty with 50,000 miles on it when it happened. Luckily, it’s a company vehicle and didn’t cost me. I was told this was a common problem with the cylinder deactivation system by the dealer and other mechanics. If you turn the feature off before he lifters start having problems, it supposedly prevents it from happening.
Yeah it’s my understanding that it’s an oil starvation issue when those cylinders come back on they’re dry starting basically… def turn it off though. Get all the noise
The Pulsar LT best feature is throttle control. Went to level 5 and about got whiplash. The 6.2 has some serious torque when it is not is B$tch mode.
Get the AFM delete stat. Mine is in the shop right now getting the lifters replaced because they kept sticking. $1500+ to fix it. Good luck with it man.
Amen brother. I also bought a used truck as a gift to myself. I grabbed a 2018 STX crewcab 4x4. Mine has the twin turbo ecoboost. I have had it since January and MAN I LOVE MY NEW (TO ME) TRUCK. I traded out of a 2006 F150 XLT. I drove that truck 15 years before I had to retire it because I wanted something with four wheel drive. Other than not having a locking rear axle, my truck is perfect. Looking forward to the content.

It's called a pulsar the box you're talking about. It does void of warranty, so I need to go back to the shop take it off put everything back to settings when you're done with their shop, put it back on. PS the tool man was right on the money.
You should put a catch can on it, being direct injected the valves will get alot of carbon buildup after some time. Just a suggestion to prevent buildup since you have super low miles.

Pulsar LT is great, have the exact truck did wheels and tires, intake, pulsar, tint gmp borla exhaust and a cap, love the truck.
Still have my 45 day tags on my Chevy Custom love it in the Midwest 4x4 needed something for the winter, blacked out windows. Can’t ride the Harley Davidson in the snow👍🏽✌🏽💪🏽

My lifter failed due to cylinder deactivation. Had to pull the head to repair. I bought the cylinder deactivation plug in obd2 sensor port off Amazon it works great and will also save you the headache you will get one day on that engine. My opinion but I had to due the work cause by that same thing.

Hopefully it was because of a known issue the previous owner went thru. I heard GM had casting issues with their pushrods and they were breaking between 3-7k miles and only replaced what broke under warranty between 20-22.
CAI and exhaust, as long as you don't touch the cats, doesn't effect the warranty. Definitely confirm on the Pulsar thing though cause that could. Truck looks sweet bud, though I won't own another black vehicle especially here in FL.

Good on you for making your kid pay for his own auto insurance. I had to buy my first car myself too. Got dropped off to work by my mom until I could finance a used stick shift Honda Accord. First time I ever drove a stick was driving that car home from the lot. Kids get too much handed to them on a silver platter.
Great looking car. I only wonder why you needed more than 20 minutes of which the majority of the time was you talking (not that I have anything against that) when it was just about a few shots of the car, the befores and afters of both the exhaust conversion and the window tan and the tri-tip.
If ya didnt already, get the front done in a ceramic film. Im in jax and it makea a HUGE difference
Chevy will tell you not to touch the AFM system. I highly recommend doing what you can to remove it. I ended up having a lifter fail which resulted in a rebuild of my engine. Since I had to rebuild it, I changed the lifters and turned off the AFM, and I get better mpg now.

So I have a 15 High Country Silverado, I personally run a range afm disabler(before they added more stupid things) but have heard good things about pulsar I just like range pops in ob2 port anytime I go to a shop I pop it off. I personally have a Volant CAI and cat back magnaflow. Just loud enough but not pissing off neighbors when I leave for work. As for fuel mileage I actually gained some but I bought a truck not some ev bs fuel economy wasn't first thought. For tint I have 20% ceramic & 65% front not sure FL laws but where I live I went to the VA had them fill out a waiver for RMV problem solved not medical advice but say you have migraines or something waivers are easy enough. Only recommendation I have led pod lights on magnets on receiver tapped into 7 pin helps backing at night. I do also run a Ranch Hand bumper for the just incase it's like a edc tool ha
Nice truck! I would highly recommend the S&b Cold Air Intake. Just installed that along with the Borla S Type exhaust and it is a great combo on my '21 Silverado RST 6.2. Looking forward to more truck content.
Air intakes don't help on these engines.
If you have a sunroof have that tinted as well, I did and huge difference.

Sounds great! I like that you left the resonators. As Ive become older, I like my exhaust on the more quiet side, but know how restricted they are. It sounds really good!
I've been looking at these trucks. Just haven't been able to justify it with my current one running just fine. I guess I need to find a 16 year old to give it to so I can get a new one. I did a similar thing with my exhaust, left my resonator and swapped out the muffler with a 14" magnaflow. Volume is about the same as yours. I posted a video of it like 5 years ago. Lol
That was me man. Mine was 11 years old, paid off and ran great. Couldn’t justify the expense until I had a reason. 😉👍🏻

When a guy buys a truck there are things that have to be done. Window tint, exhaust, something done to the air intake, leveling or a small lift kit.
I used to tow so many of these good luck with it and keep a close eye on trans fluid

The windshield really sets it off. Don't try that in Pa tho, I get stopped for my tint all the time, 5%, usually just being nosey but they all say if the windshield was tinted I would have been fined.
