Got the Novablast 5 last week. Awesome shoe.. I was 50:50 between them and the Hooka Mach 6 but decided to go with the Novablast. They do perfectly fine for my daily runs.
I have the Superblast 1 and, although it's not particularly exciting, it is very consistent and durable. After 2 hours on foot, the Superblast feels the same underfoot. I'm wary about the Novablast. The FF Blast Max is new so I don't know what is in it but, it seems like the FF Blast+ kind of lost its pop after a few hundred miles and I can put several hundred on a really durable shoe.
I've run 100 easy & tempo miles in the SB2. While I like its responsiveness, I find it a bit firmer than I'd like for easy runs. I was surprised by this because by durometer, the foam is softer than my Hoka Rincon 3s...but SB2 have a much higher stack, and I suspect that stack plus stiffer sole plus my lighter weight (135lb) are to blame. I only went with the SB2 because the softer Novablast 4s I tried were very slippy on wet pavement. I see the NB5 have a different tread pattern, but I've heard they use the NB4 rubber which is concerning.
Thanks. I wouldn't race or use the NovaBlast 5s as a tempo shoe. It's a little too soft for that. The NovaBlast 4s were firmer and could do that. I have both iterations and the SuperBlast 2s. I believe the 4s are more aligned with the SuperBlast 2s for firmness and stability.
I put about 40 miles into my SB2, I don’t know if it’s more narrow due to being unisex but I had to return this shoe. I also have the NB4, and NB5 both in wide sizes, unfortunately the SB2 is not very wide foot/ toe box friendly.
There is this balance of trying to have the right width with theses Unisex sizing shoes. Not too wide for women interested in the shoe and not too tight for men. Sometimes the width is narrower in the midfoot/throat of the shoe versus going to a mens wide (2E). Its not too shocking the SB2 was tight versus a wide NB.
I'm a big fan of the Novablast (3,4, & 5). Honestly, I think the SB2 comparison would be closer to the 4. That said, I LOVE my SuperBlast 2. Key differences: - Outsole - Only minor improvements from Asics on the Novablast over the 3 generations, the Ahar LO rubber can be slick. No issues at all with the SB2 - Midsole - The 5 with the FFMax is a lot softer than the 4 or SB2. Great for longer runs, but not as good as the SB2 for tempo. The FFTurbo on the SB2 is firmer, but fantastic for long runs and speed work. Right now it is my racing shoe as well. - Volume - huge improvement for the 5 and probably why Steve is liking it more since we both have fat feet. Both NB5 & SB2 would qualify in my book as stable-neutral shoes due to the improved volume If you are looking for one shoe to do it all, this is no contest, the SB2 is worth the extra money. The NB5 is a really good daily trainer and will keep your feet happy on longer runs. My rotation right now is the SB2 and Rebel v4 mainly for balance, wear. and mixing up midsoles. Now Steve, the Rebel v4 vs. the Novablast 5 would be a fun comparison! Love the video!
I know people are asking for these comparisons but I think it creates a lot of confusion. The shoes arnt the same or similar at all. You arnt saving money buying the novablast.
Have you tried either shoe? Leave your thoughts down below!
have both shooes :) Novabalst for 1 hour run and superblast2 for 2 hour run

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Steve and team!
Thank you so much! Happy holidays to you as well!
got the SB2 for christmas and run about 30km with it. i'm new to this running game but i love the shoe and it's performance. 😁
Certainly went hard for your first shoes 😂, don’t try any other ones after, you’ll be disappointed 😅

I wear a 14 2E so it makes the choice pretty easy for me. 😊

@@RunMoorethat makes sense, thanks for the reply 🔥
I don’t find them narrower but definitely shorter fit than the SB1. I have to wear thinner socks in the SB2 to avoid big toe rash !
Evening all. I prefer the novablast 5= 150€. Like from 🇪🇸 Spain. !!! Merry Christmas for everyone!!!!.

I can’t find the Superblast on the website
The Superblast has limited availability. Call the store if interested and we can see what we can do!
SB2 is like butter
