Superblast 2 is in a class of its own. If you have the cash, buy it but only if you know what you're gonna do with it! Don't just buy a SB2 and run slow or ultra fast. Both shoes have a place in any running rotation, but the best max stacked super trainer has gotta be the SB2. Also good to add I'm 63kg at 5'10, this is more than enough cushion for long runs, and light enough to up the pace.
I finally managed to snag a pair of Superblast 2s but had to sell them on after only running around 20km in them. They caused quite a bit of pain on the lateral side of both feet, never had this issue before and I haven’t got particularly wide feet. Possibly due to the sidewall on the lateral side of each shoe digging in. Since switched to the Mizuno Neo Vistas and really enjoying them.
The Superblast V1 is a bit dull out of the box, and took me a good 50km to break in. I guess that period will vary depending upon your weight and the pace you are running at etc. I now find it is propulsive at moderate paces too. Good luck with NB5s..
Have both and I think they really complement eachother well. Novablast is perfect for easy to steady, short to medium runs. Superblast 2 is perfect for steady to fast, medium to long runs. There is some overlap, but the biggest difference to me is the consistency over time. Superblast 2 just doesn't change in feel over distance, where the Novablast 5 definitely starts to bottom out quite a bit after ~10 to 12km.
Got myself Novablast 5 and Superblast 2. I found Novablast good for a steady but easy pace run. I tried to get a bit more speed up but struggled. However with Superblast 2 although was also intending doing an easy run I found I pushed myself more to get some fast run towards the end. Putting a smile on my face. I intend to use both as a rotation for 2025
dang it, you're making me rethink my plan to just use Superblast for everything except trails and races. I might have to try the Novablast5 simply for the price savings alone if they're not that different.
Just took my first one hour run in the Novablast 5 this morning. Super comfortable, good protection, nice and stable. No issues and does everything you'd ask a daily trainer to do. However, I prefer the Novablast 4 and the Superblast 2 over it. Novablast 4s are hard to come by these days but if you can grab a pair I'd recommend them over the 5s. Superblast 2 still rules the roost.
I tried SB2 in the asics store. Didn’t like them. They felt somewhat “dud” to me. Didn’t feel lively at all. Had to skip on them. Will give them a try again.

I’ll be running my first marathon at the end of February, aiming for a sub-4 finish. My longest run so far was a half marathon in 1:35 last month, which I ran in the Alphafly 3. Currently, I do my long runs in the Superblast V1, which has about 200 miles on it. If you know the blaster works then it seems a good bet. How did you find the half in the alphafly 3? My only concern with buying a new pair of blasters is the time they take to break in. Best of luck!
@@EDDBUD The Alphafly 3 excels at maximum effort and aggressive pacing but lacks comfort. I don't believe they're ideal for paces slower than 4:50 min/km, especially for runs lasting over 3.5 hours, as there are more suitable alternatives available.
My Nova blast 5 in Purple will be here on Monday. Luckily, I found the last pair in size 11. I am trying to get the Super Blast 2 in Purple it's sold out everywhere unfortunately. Will go to the Asics store tomorrow to see if more stock will be available in the near future.
mine in teal also arrive next week. Just today I got a slightly used SB2 paris 2nd hand. My lager right foot is EU 45,5 or 28,4 cm and in most Asics I go for the smaller size EU 45 / 285mm, which puts my big to to the front, but it works and doesn't seem to be an issue. @@EDDBUD traction version ;) Asics should spend the extra dollar(cents) to put Asicsgrip on the Novablast! May as well charge 5 Dollars for it. BUT... productdiversification. better stuff just in the pricier models. 200€ sh*t shoe: yeah, high end rubber no problem.
I bought the Superblast 2 recently - instant regret. The toe box is not wide enough, I actually had to size up to make it bearable. The insole has a weird shape which doesn't work with my foot, if the big toe ball doesn't sit in the right place then you are in for a bad time. I felt all that in the store and thought - so many people love them so maybe the ride makes up for it. But no, you are just lugging around a lot of foam for nothing. It feels stiff and dead and the toe rocker forces you to run fast to get anything out of it. Edit: To all the people commenting that you need to wear them in - that's a serious issue which other brands don't have. I don't want to waste training miles on them, they are just sitting in the box. And you can't run easy in them either to wear them in because they are just so dead.
I bought the sb2 in my normal running shoe size, but finding them a bit to long. And during the run I having Some trouble finding the right stride. Im a midfoot striker and I find the outsole pritty loud and slapping on the tarmac.. I dont know iff anyone else is having the same issues. I do find that the shoe is best for a more faster steady run. It wants to go a bit faster.
Sadly the Superblast 2's are only made up to size 13! So for us bigger feet size 15 people we are SOL! But the Novablast 5's do indeed go up to 15s and the new Luxe colorway is quite amaze.
I’ve got 550km on my SB2s. There’s a tiny bit of wear on the outsole in the lateral forefoot, and a tiny crack appearing between the two foams in the medial forefoot (suspect the glue has worn out), but otherwise they feel like new. Suspect I’ll get another 250km out of them before I move on to my second pair.
Am 105kg and love the SB2. Ran a half marathon PB in them when they were fresh and did the bulk of marathon training in these. Still feel good at about 600km but dont have the same pop. How do they compare to the magic speed 4s?
The Novablast? There are tons of videos NB4 vs Ride 17 and now NB4 vs NB5. Ride 18 = Ride 17. Superblast is another category, so a direct comparison doesn't make sense. Like this video ;)
Novablast rubber is actually quite sticky, out of the 📦 So much that it picks up all the dust & becomes sticky no more😅 I saw that when testing just 1 shoe, then both. So i confirm, dust is not very sticky 😂

Can it compete against Hoka Mach X 3?
3? Haven’t seen that yet
@@EDDBUD the mach x 2.. read some reviews from kofuzi that it could compete with SB2
If I buy the Superblast then I've done my money for tonight's game 🃏
Don’t worry. I’ll take back the empties.
Hey Ed! Can you do a head to head comparison between the nike zoomfly 6 and the puma deviate nitro 3 please
I think I did that one already.
Nice🎉
Silver
Loving FF Blast Max on the Novablast 5. Feels very responsive and bouncy.
Yes can’t wait for more shoes with this foam
My Nova blast 5 in Purple will be here on Monday. Luckily, I found the last pair in size 11.
I am trying to get the Super Blast 2 in Purple it's sold out everywhere unfortunately. Will go to the Asics store tomorrow to see if more stock will be available in the near future.
Enjoy!
mine in teal also arrive next week. Just today I got a slightly used SB2 paris 2nd hand.
My lager right foot is EU 45,5 or 28,4 cm and in most Asics I go for the smaller size EU 45 / 285mm, which puts my big to to the front, but it works and doesn't seem to be an issue. Also for my rather narrow and super low volume feet i would have way too much volume in those shoes.
But in GT2000 and Noosa Tri i definately need the half size larger, EU 46 / 290mm!
Novablast 4 TR i also have in EU 46 / 290mm, but i didn't try half size smaller EU 45 / 285mm.
Therefore, as the NB5 is said to be even wider and have thinner upper material, I odered EU 45 / 285mm AND EU 46 /290mm for direct comparison.
MY FEET:
narrower side, ägypt toes (first the longest, then shorter every time), fat big toe!, normal arches, very low instep, very low volume, very low volume heels, neutral stride,
* left: EU 44-44,5 / 27,5 cm,
* right: EU 45,5 / 28,4 cm,
SHOE JOURNEY:
Asics in EU 45 / 285(2.5)mm:
* Fuji Lite 4 - uneven pair because of trail [44+45 left+right],
* Kayano Lite 3,
* Kayano 31 (Lite Show) - new, maybe sell because it is too wide?,
* Nimbus 26 - hate it for forefoot strike, just good for heel striking and walking, will sell it,
* Superblast 1 (red),
* Superblast 2 (paris) - just got it today, still boxed up,
* Novablast 5 (teal) - ordered, size?
* GT2000-13 - ordered, out of curiosity, size?
* Trabuco 10 - just got it, still boxed up, 2nd hand but new, good price, size?
ASICS in EU 46 / 290mm:
* GT2000-4 - sell, #9 - sell, #10 - keep!, #11 - sell because too hard, #12 - returned because hard like a brickstone, #13 - ordered, out of curiosity, size?,
* Noosa Tri 14, 15, 16 - running barefoot or thin socks, 14 also normal running socks, also use as casual sneaker next summer,
* Novablast 4 TR - love it!,

BROOKS EU 45 / 290(2.5)mm:
* Gost Max (red) - super, just a bit much space in the heels for my low volume heels and feet,
* Hyperion GTS (green) - just got it, still boxed up, 2nd hand, good price, size???,
HOKA EU 46 / 295mm / US 11,5D:

HOKA EU 46 2/3 / 300mm / US 12D:
* Mach 6 (poppy/squash),
PUMA EU 45:
* Velocity Nitro 2 - will be used not for running but as a casual sneaker,
* Velocity Nitro 3 (white, sunrise is also ordered) - super!,
* Deviate Nitro 2 - just got it 2nd hand super cheap, just ran around the building, forefoot, felt stiff and therefore "fast", hope it breaks in,
* Deviate Nitro 3 - ordered, hope its not so stiff like DN2 i just ran around the building, Sagasu Running complained about the dead feeling shoe to be the worst ever!,
* Deviate Nitro Elite 2 - just arrived today, still boxed up, 2nd hand, but new, top price,
PUMA EU 46:
* Velocity Nitro 3 GTX - first Puma shoe ever for me, just got it recently, made me get or at least order all the other ones,
* Velocity Nitro 3 (sunrise) - sell because large,
SAUCONY EU 45:
* Kinvara 14 - sold, because way too hard, sound of slipping slightly every stride because of no rubber,
* Tempus 1 (yellow) - ordered, 2nd hand,
SAUCONY EU 46 / 295mm:
* Triumph 20 Runshield - 2nd hand, not ran, haven't ran in it yet,

Novablast 5 comes in a wide . Makes the choice pretty easy for me .
Had the Superblast 2's and didn't rate them at all so sold them on. I bought my wife the NB 5's for Xmas and she's loving them so I'm now going to treat myself to some when the TR version gets released
Yes a trail version will be a banger
Yeah, If there is a TR version, the normal version has no reason to exist. +15g for a daily trainer is irreelevant imho
I went 1/2 a size down on the Novablast 5.
And you can't run easy in them either to wear them in because they are just so dead.
or you just not fat enough to deform the foam, like other people - like us ;)
The superblast 2 runs tight in a 9.5. Definitely smaller than the first superblast. Toes rub against the front of the shoe if that bothers you.
Defo a half down does seem to suit. It does soften up over time
Got a pair of superblast 2 for Xmas. I can see what all the fuss is about
Enjoy! Santa hit the mark
I was surprised how stable superblast is which I am very happy about. A stability shoe?
They even advertise it on the asics site, was surprised to see that!
Sadly the Superblast 2's are only made up to size 13! So for us bigger feet size 15 people we are SOL! But the Novablast 5's do indeed go up to 15s and the new Luxe colorway is quite amaze.
Lemmy would choose the Superblast! Apparently more Blast models coming in 2025, will there be a Lemmy approved SpeedBlast! Danke schoen!
Darn good stuff. Lemmy I’m sure would have struggled on anything but the 5k. 🤣👍🏼
Superb durability!
Asics as such an amazing line up of shoes now. Innovative, good looking and well made shoes.
Couldn't agree more!
Algorithm 🤖
Am 105kg and love the SB2. Ran a half marathon PB in them when they were fresh and did the bulk of marathon training in these. Still feel good at about 600km but dont have the same pop. How do they compare to the magic speed 4s?
Haven’t worn the magic speed 4. Can anyone chime in?
👊🏼🤖‼️
HO HO HOOOO
Thanks for the super support!
@@EDDBUD
Hi
Gold
@@EDDBUD 🥇
could you compare it with saucony Ride 17 or 18 ?
The Novablast? There are tons of videos NB4 vs Ride 17 and now NB4 vs NB5. Ride 18 = Ride 17.
Superblast is another category, so a direct comparison doesn't make sense. Like this video ;)
Thanks for tuning in!
Novablast rubber is actually quite sticky, out of the 📦
So much that it picks up all the dust & becomes sticky no more😅
I saw that when testing just 1 shoe, then both.
So i confirm, dust is not very sticky 😂
like the plastic indoor floors sometime. the shoes stick like hell. Just a little dust and slippery like ice skaters
Yo
Bronze
This does seem a little like the Shoe you can’t buy versus the one that isn’t as good as the last version 😊stop press Sportshoes have size 6,7 and 7.5 in stock for those smaller runners
I do still find myself asking the question as to why you can’t find it. The zoom fly 6 is now the same.
The Nimbus
Superblast 2 definitely not fo me. Clunky big horrible thing. AND I love some larger shoes like endo elite and AF3. Didn’t get it at all
That’s a shame. Didn’t find it chunky at all and I’m a stick man.
@ and weirdly - I’m on the heavier side at 6ft 85kg. They just felt off to me and as you know, we do all get tuned to what footwear suits us and what doesn’t. I have seen others comment on a long break in period but when my Mach 6 is doing so well at all distances and paces I can’t be blowing 200 earth credits on a shoe and hope I start liking them at some point !
Superblast is overhyped IMO. A great shoe, for sure. But not the GOAT.
Have you used either the v1 or 2?
@ v1
Neither. EVO SL better. Cheaper, lighter and faster
But unavailable 😂😂😂😂
The Evo SL doesn’t want to go slow at all 😂 also is way less stable. Each are different tools for different jobs.
@@CorGPagreed, not a daily shoe. I would also have the three in a combo
Available everywhere in EU. Bought 3 pairs with not that much of an hassle.
By everywhere I mean shop4runners has all sizes in white. Runningdirect de had the black all sizes for a while too.
