What’s with parents who are picky about a child’s gender? It doesn’t matter if the child is a boy or girl, both are equally great in their own ways, and parents should see that.
I THOUGHT I wanted a girl-you know, someone just like me! But from the moment my oldest son was placed in my arms, I thought “It’s great to be a boy mom!”Three years later, we had another son. The entire pregnancy I was convinced it would be a boy (we chose not to learn the gender early), and I was elated it was another boy. Fast forward. Our sons are now 37 and 34. The oldest is a University Dean. The youngest is an EMT/Paramedic and is married to one of the finest young men I’ve ever had the good fortune to know. I tease them, saying “I didn’t even get a daughter through marriage, silly boy!” But I’m ecstatic with the young men I helped create and raise, and think things worked out as they were supposed to. I’ve been so so so lucky with my four men- my hubby of 40 years, my two sons and one son-in-law!
Those parents were sure mean to their son and treated him like dirt. Good thing he left the family and had trustworthy friends and a caring girlfriend.
There's saying goes; Every parents deserve a child if they want but not every child or parents deserve a thing called family. I myself am in the same boat: instead of revising their lives to teach me how to safely operate a motor vehicle and support me in building up an employment history, my parents forced me through a college-preparatory adolescence for a work world that might have existed in the sixties and seventies but definitely not now. I now have the data about how to safely operate a motor vehicle but not the extensive history; unfortunately, my fortunes with employment and housing has more of chaotic plot. In June 2010, my ex-landlord not only refused to execute a repair I requested but began scrutinizing me like a criminal to where I was forced to abandon the apartment in August 2011 after nearly nine years of living there without incident. The next apartment was no better; even though I lived there peacefully for six years, there was a sequence of property managers that came to a sour opinion of my ability to properly care for the apartment after I got the Family Protective Services Department sicced on me twice. In August 2017, my 2nd ex-landlord found an excuse to nega-renew me. The third apartment where I ended up was an overpriced pest infested fire trap and that landlord wielded my mom as its mouthpiece to order me to quit the apartment in April 2019 right as I was working towards my civilian motor license as I knew this would happen sooner or later. After another incidence of xenophobia from my 2nd ex-landlord which drove me to quit the apartment in June 2021, I put that chaos and turbulence to rest . . . here is to hoping it stays that way. They usually grow up with no real world skills because mommy and daddy have done everything for them their whole life. They rarely have social skills because they usually grow up to be so entitled from the parents getting them anything they want at just a whimper from the child. Many of them have "failure to thrive" and due to the infantising them many of them often don't ever leave home, never get a job, or have relationships/get married. As for the daughter/sister, no one knows where she is but it has been revealed that she is living in the dumpster. She was able to recognize her brother but did not bother knowing that he will just refuse her.
My response would be "Leave, you are not my parents, nor treated me like your son." then I would end the conversation by saying "You said I am an unwanted child, and you always wanted a daughter, now go to her, your golden child." Then I would make it painfully clear to them, they are not my family.
