Having trouble with your dance moves? You could learn a thing or two from the Blue Footed Boobie. What do you think about this bird's unique mating dance?
From a biology perspective, they are very interesting. I don't think there is an agreed upon theory as to how and why they have blue webbed feet. Well, the how is easier. A mutation. But the why that gave them mating advantage and what function it has... bit of a mystery.
Wow, I've heard of this bird and expected their feet to be like a dark grey that could be confused with blue. Had no idea they were so bright and beautiful. Nature is amazing!
They are not that stupid, as long as you don't mess with them they will maintain their distance. However, they peck specially hard, it feels sharp like knives and strong enough to make you regret messing with them.

@@Skipbo000 Just a heads up. They're NOT born that way. Just as a flamingo isn't born pink, but grows into that color over a lifetime of eating shrimp, the blue footed booby's feet evolve over time.
most of the time when male and female look the same they have equal parental roles. the one who is the most attractive has less responsibilities and dies quickier
From what I've read, it's similar to where the word "Barbarian" came from. Basically it's a babbling gibberish sound which someone very confused would say (or what some foreign languages sound like to Latin-speakers, hence the word Barbarian being used to refer to certain people). By the sounds of it, the birds got that name because their waddling looks a bit like confused stumbling. The similar-sounding word for the human body part also seems to be derived from babbling, but in this case, it's probably from baby babbling, likely taken from the babble some babies would make when they wanted to nurse.
It comes a from a Spanish word meaning stupid, they were named this because they showed no fear when Spaniards showed up to their breeding grounds, much like dodod
The gannet is a large seabird that can reach speeds of up to 190 kilometers per hour when diving. When the bird hits the water, the force of the impact can be 20 times greater than the force of gravity. How do gannets withstand the impact and repeat their incredible dives over and over again? Note. When diving, the bird folds its wings along its body and enters the water like an arrow shot from a bow. It also closes its eyes with a protective membrane and inflates air sacs in the neck and chest to soften the impact of the impact with the water. How deep can a gannet dive? Due to the force of gravity, the bird is able to dive to a depth of almost 11 meters. But it can continue to dive by working its half-bent wings and webbed feet. There are cases of gannets diving to a depth of more than 25 meters. Once the dive is complete, the gannet effortlessly floats to the surface, ready to take off again. Scientists have created bionic birds to use in search and rescue missions. The robot gannets were expected to fly, dive into the water, and rise into the air again. But during testing, one of the robots broke several times because it entered the water too hard. The scientists concluded that their robots “still have a long way to go to match the original - the superb diving gannets.” What do you think? Have gannets evolved to be excellent divers? Or is their ability the brainchild of a brilliant Engineer?
