for birds when food is abundant enough/there's not many predators the males and females immediately enter an evolutionary mating arms race, wherin males evolve insane light shows to get the attention of females who can afford to be way pickier

Frigatebirds are one of the most usual yet exciting species of birds I have ever seen.
These birbs are so weird but cool. In the movie Rio, during the "Real in Rio" song, three frigatebirds can be briefly seen pounding on their throat pouches as if they were drums. 🐦🎈🥁
