The thing with having to be connected with HP+ ... one day when HP decides your printer is 'outdated' you simply need a new printer. NEVER buy any printer which requires you to connect to their service in order to print because one day they WILL shut you down even if your printer is still perfect. A good laser printer like the Brother (just bought one) can last you easily over 10-20 years.
6:35 I really appreciated that you mentioned hp instant ink ‘scam’. I was using another model of hp printer and I enrolled that instant ink and a few months later I quit. Now Hp even doesn’t let me use the previous ink cartridges that they sent it for this instant ink program. 😨 I paid these money on the previous months abd now it doesn’t let me use. Now I am buying a trustable product - Brother 👍🏻 thanks again..
You can’t go wrong with a Brother, mine has been very reliable all these years and ink is as cheap as it gets if you don’t mind getting non original one.
Great advice. I was at the store today and couldn’t decide between a brother printer or HP. I ended up getting the brother, watching this vid makes me feel like I’ve made the right choice👍🏽 thank you!
im really putt of by hp scummy anti consummer behaviour.... looking for a honest printer, that i can use for years and it will work every time..... but i think most all printers will scam you any way they can.....
I have brother 2510D, multi functional unit, use third party toners. Only usb connection and automatic double sided print and use it mostly as printer only, occasionally copy something. 10 dollar TN 2420 compatible toner, has printed 1600 pages (5.8% coverage), and estimates some 25% left. Not very tree friendly, but the cost is so low that if you prefer reading from paper, you can print so you can read from paper, not a screen. No issues so far.
I've always loved HP especially in the late '90s but for some reason my HP 8600 seems to be making ink cartridges leak or explode, and I'm seriously considering a brother but just want to make sure it's going to be something that will last
HP seems to have lost its mojo years ago. I'm nursing an ancient and simple HP (so old no more OEM cartridges!) but when it finally croaks I'm going with Brother.
I had a great HP LaserJet 1012 that I used for years, until Windows 10 was introduced. HP did not offer a Windows 10 driver so I had to screw around with an older driver designed for another printer, which was a real pain. Why should I buy an HP printer when they refuse to provide updated drivers for the latest operating systems? I've been using a Brother HL-2270DW for the last several years with both Windows 10 and 11, and it's worked well.
I bought my last HP product like 10 years ago, PC tower with a power supply of a laptop. I will never buy anything HP Good video I'm getting the Brother, brother
The original brother toner you showed on amazon was the high yield one, so it was costlier. If you look at the normal one, it will definitely be cheaper than original hp cartridge.
I have bought several inkjet printers over the years and I have developed a love / hate relationship with them. At first, the color and quality was very nice, but over time I found that the print quality started to degrade and I wasted a lot of ink trying to keep the printer working properly. After my stepson finished school I decided to buy a Canon monochrome MFD that meets all of my needs and I have had it for several years now. I can scan in color and print in B&W, which is OK for me. I also like the fact that it uses 3rd party toner cartridges that work well. If this printer stops working I would definitely consider a Brother MFD.
Thanks for the info. Needless to say "Brother is always the best". I am looking for all in one monochrome laser printer. Do you have any suggestions ? Least I am looking for is a scan feature.
wow.. super.. very nicely compared and thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts.. I was in extreme dialemma between these two brands, but after having watched your video, i have decided to go with BROTHER printer.. Thanks again.. god bless you
I had not updated my payment method with HP and still using my first cartridge. Printer would not print until I updated my payment method. I thought that was sneaky. Dont like the feeling of being tied down to it. I know that now its like $4 a month but it felt so stupid that I have this printer at home is practically brand new and is junk if I dont pay. What i am wondering would it work again if i just buy the ink myself OEM? Even if i have to purchase it myself i would rather do that.
Thank you. I have a HP and like it, but I've also had a Brother and loved it. I also like the ability to purchase 3rd party. Thank you for your review. I may return to BROTHER.
You're so helpful, thank you so much. I still have an unaswered question. I will give the premise. I travel a lot for work and comes home months in between. I want to buy a printer that I can use whenever I come back home. Which one of this is better being left unused for a while?
Usually a laser printer (whatever brand) will be reliable for occasional, infrequent use. On the other hand any kind of inkjet printer will tend to get clogged print-heads because the ink dries out. Laser toner is a dry powder, it stays usable for longer.
DO NOT BUY HP !! I purchased an HP 234dw laser jet printer approximately 3 weeks ago and the latest scam they are running includes acknowledging that you CANNOT RETURN even if it is defective.. only a fake manufacturer's warranty. This printer was supposedly new. But it is already torn up after printing a 200 page print job.
I was in need of a dependable printer for printing many documents. For this, I simply needed a printer that prints black. To suit my needs, I purchased the Brother HL-L6210DW. This printer has been awesome! I've printed well over 2,500 pages and am still using the first print cartridge (Toner). This thing also prints very fast and also have a very generous amount of RAM. For those of you who may need to print in color and or need scanning take a look at the Brother HL-L6300DW or the Brother MFC-L5915DW or the Brother MFC-L5705DW. I'll tell you - you can't go wrong!
You make it sound like a rite of passage / sign of maturity ... (or what you call it - not a native speaker). And maybe it is, at least if it's a laser printer. Not sure an inkjet counts... :)
I've just purchased the Brother HL‑L2400DWE after HP blocked my Inkjet from printing because I fitted non-HP ink cartridges. Well, HP, you can kiss goodbye to any further business from me or my company. Totally disreputable company in my opinion. BTW, Brother also offer a subscription for Laser Toner, but I won't be going near that either.
Speaking with Brother UK, just to verify whether I'd have difficulties if I tried their new toner subscription service, then reverted to using 3rd party toner, they said definitely no problem. Unlike HP who change your software if you subscribe, Brother said there is absolutely no problem if I wish to use any compatible toners. I thought this would be the case, as Brother have always respected their customers (and I've been once since 1984).
I bought an HP laserjet m140we printer and you cannot use another cartridge if it is not original from HP Although its ink plan has not been used, it is very sad because the original cartridges are very expensive. If you are going to buy an HP printer, do not buy one whose name ends with "e" like mine, whose name is m140w"e". I recommend that you buy another brand, HP is a cheating brand
HP have indeed disgusting strategies, pushy, almost criminal... Do NOT condone that! (see louis rossmann video about it) I just got a new Brother base don the many good feedback I saw online, and it is amazing!
@@warrenmatt5099 Well - Technically it's not ink, but a powder. And the subscription is separated in a ink subscription and a toner subscription. Needless to say that I strongly recommend to never ever do a scummy subscription like that. I strongly advise to avoid HP printers like the plague...

I agree with your comment. Unfortunately Brother has started pushing their subscription service as well.
@@printerinsider But there is a difference. Does Brother also require internet connection to print so it goes through their servers first?
@@astralfields1696 That's a good question, I ll have to investigate

Thanks for the heads up! I hate when they try to force or trick me into subscription plans like that.
Same here, the way they are trying to get you to sign up is definitely not ethical

HP shat in my nest when we applied the update and the printer suddenly told us our cartridges were an old version which couldnt be used. Bye bye.
I'd be careful with that inexpensive ink
