Yes, it does. After you are done using the original brother toner, you can remove the chip from it and slip it into a different 3rd party toner (if the 3rd parties chip does not work)
Thanks! So strange, I have ordered this toner a couple of times from Amazon and only today (on the 4th replacement cartridge), did I get the error. I took the chip out of the empty cartridge (same Link Yo) and swapped it with the new Link Yo and it worked fine. So weird but thankfully it worked like a charm!

Thanks for the video. I read the manual for the HL-5470DW laser printer and it warned not to use 3rd party toner cartridges. I got a toner low message and your solutionj is likely to be needed soon.
Agreed, I have a couple older MFCs and a newer one bought in Hong Kong that do not have the chips. It should not be allowed, similar issue to when laws were changed for the iFixIt to come about. There is also a YT video where Brother explains the 'counters' they installed. Regarding US products, please place complaints here: www.usa.gov/consumer-complaints.
The thing you have to know is when you buy a printer they give you super small toners installed. When you buy a high yield toner cartridge it will last WAY longer than the original.
Man it sucks that Brother is doing that as well. I still have a brother printer that doesn't have a chip so I've been able to insert different off-brand toners without any issues.
Just be careful when you refill because the rollers on the toner cartridges do wear out over time. If it wears out enough it will leak toner inside of your printer. And if it leaks onto the heating element it's a pain to clean off and sometimes you have to replace it.
I have recently bought a second printer to print in color. It's the kind that does not use cartridges. You simply fill in the liquids directly into the printer. I got to say, it's a game changer

Thanks for sharing valuable information. I bought a HL-L2350 DW printer 3 years ago. Now it keeps saying change toner cartridge even though I replaced new toner. What dose it mean, Chris? Does it mean the printer no good?
Seems like brother has sent an update which prohibits 3rd oarty toners. You will have to buy the originals now. Problem is people use this 3rd party low quality stuff which ruims the printer and then they want the company Brother to replace their printer. Brother saw this and decides to end it.
Try first using the new toner with the new chip, then if it does not work, swap the chip to the original one. This will make the printer think that you replaced the toner with a new genuine toner.

What if I accidentally touched the chip since I didn’t have gloves? I did as instructed yet it still says that I need to replace the toner cartridge...
Try this... Put the non-original chip on first and start the printer. Then turn off the printer and switch back to the genuine chip, this will reset the genuine chip
in the description of the model on amazon italy it says that the toner needed for hl-l2350dw is tn-2410 (1200 sheets) or tn-2420 (3000 sheets). I don't understand why in your model it says-730 or tn-760. do you know why? thank you
Hello. Does the toner that comes in the box with the Brother HL-L2370DW printer have a chip? If so, can that chip be used in non-original toners? Or do I have to buy an additional OEM toner to have the original chip?
Some 3rd part toners come with working chips and some come with chips that the printer does not like... This particular toner in the video did not work with my printer and I had to swap the chip. It's hard to say if this company fixed this problem or not. I would imagine if you already have a working toner (original or not) then you can just reuse that chip in your next toner if your next toner does not work.
Some new 3rd party toners have chips that do not work with the printer out-of-the-box. After trying the new toner, if the printer rejects it, install the old chip into the new toner and put it back into the printer. At this point, the printer has forgotten about the old chip and thinks its a new toner from the original manufacturer and restarts the print count and works like it should.
Very good... Just as well as the original. I have been printing a lot since I have been working from home and it's holding up well. And when it eventually runs out, I still have the second one.
@@PepInYaStep yup, I would say it's definitely worth it. The standard original toner for this printer (TN730) costs ~$42 and claims to print ~1200 pages. The Linkyo toner costs ~$15/per cartridge (comes with two) and prints over 1,500 pages. Definitely saves money!
As the other TH-camr pointed out... You may need to first use the 3rd party toner with it's own chip first so that the printer forgets about the original chip , before you swap it.
Tried this (but on one of the touchscreen models) and it still says it's empty. Guess they're getting more asshole in their behavior, the chip must store the counter or something on it now. And here I thought Brother was a "better" company than Canon and the like. Oh well.
This is a HUGE tip even if different manufacturers are selling compatible toner cartridges now.

What was the purpose of the existing chip on the new Linkyo toner cartridge?
The existing chip is a "genuine" chip. The one that comes with the Linkyo doesn't work and will be rejected by the printer.
It simply provides a unique ID to the printer letting the printer know that you have a genuine toner cartridge.
Did not work for me, it continues to indicate replace toner.

New toner with old chip? I don't get it...

Is using this hack worth voiding your warranty?
Big time
Tried this (but on one of the touchscreen models) and it still says it's empty. Guess they're getting more asshole in their behavior, the chip must store the counter or something on it now. And here I thought Brother was a "better" company than Canon and the like. Oh well.
Didn't work for me either. No doubt updates have rendered this trick unusable.
That sounds unfortunate

Actually you don't have to replace the chip from Linkyo toner. You can install it directly and then it works.
