I wish more people out there would have gave this album a chance. Truly a masterpiece. Definitely way ahead of it's time and such a refreshing change to all the "screamo pop punk" that was coming out at the time. To this day can still listen all the way through and never get bored with it.

No one knows the songs off "Say Hello to Sunshine". xD I had no idea how true this was until Warped Tour yesterday. I keep bitching about it because I was so saddened that the crowd didn't know the songs OR respond to them. I was up near the front, worried I'd be squashed, when I ended up being the most energetic.

Shame they didnt keep faith in themselves when their audience couldn't adjust to their evolution. This album was such leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in terms of complexity and musicality, I would love to see a finch that continued in this vein a few more albums deep.

Finch established 1999. one of my favorite bands growing up. check the date before suggesting your mainstream bands now, did it first or even try to compare them to anyone now lol this is old school, all band's go through different sounds, sing about what's relevant at the time for them as a group, the genre was/has been reinvented so many times.

I dunno why people dont like this album. I like it better than WIITB. It is one of my top albums of all time. So gritty and raw with better song writing. Can wait for Back to Oblivion! I'm feeling like it will be a mix between WIITB and SHTS.
I liked SHTS when it came out. still do. but to me, it's not as good as WIITB. and no, not because that was their first record and my introduction to them. a lot of people choose favorite albums based on nostalgia only. I just go with songwriting. sure, SHTS has more intricate guitar work and more complex structures and polyrhythmic riffs, but I just don't find the songs quite as catchy and memorable as WIITB. to me, WIITB is a 9/10, SHTS is a 7/10.
I genuinely think that if this was their first record and they never put out What It Is To Burn then they would've become a beloved cult band. That first record ended up being a curse for them even as much as people loved it. But they got so much fucking better after.

"Say hello to sunshine" is such a great album, they kept much of their original post-hardcore sound but injected it with Faith No More and Deftones influences. It's so much more varied and heavier than the first album and the vocals and lyrics are excellent. I don't get it when people say they prefer the first cd.
I didn't read the comments and incubus came to mind. I don't care though just because they sounds like their channeling musical energies from a similar place doesn't mean they are ripping eachother off. Incubus has never done anything finch has done, and vice versa. This is just awesome Finch.

I was young and stupid (looking for a completely different band tbh lol) but I was more than satisfied when I gave this a listen because it's just FANTASTIC. I love this album, way better than What It Is to Burn, in my opinion anyway. This one is just full of insanity rather than sounding like some bland emo band.

It had absolute bangers like Two Guns to the Temple that reminded me of Say Hello to Sunshine, and on the other hand its singles like Anywhere but Here and Further from the Few just didn't click with me. It felt like there was some jadedness going on. Again, it was a great album, but Say Hello to Sunshine was a complete showstopper that just couldn't be topped, and in my opinion still hasn't been topped by anybody else in the genre.
My band "Romance Mechanics" is playing with Finch May 17 at the Nile Theater. This is a dream come true for me, considering these dudea were my inspiration growing up. Hard work does pay off!!!
