More than a proud dad, I'd say that's the joy a nerd gets when someone is amazing at the thing he's passionate about. Think about it: you spend years learning to sing, studying music, leading beautiful operas... and one day you meet someone you'd absolutely love to sing with.

@@pabloliva87 When Floor sang that first song, it probably put Henk more at ease with the show. I am sure he wasn't expecting anyone on the show to be a fan of opera, but Floor was specifically a fan of Henk's. I am sure he felt humbled.
He later said he was particularly moved by this performance because his mother used to sing it when his parents were still together. Of course it was a wonderful performance, but also it brought back happy memories of his childhood.

It shouldn’t be too hard to find the English translation. The entire operetta ‘Die lustige Witwe’ has been translated as ‘The merry widow’. Just search for the ‘Vilja song’. It’s about a fairy called ‘Vilja’...

Definitely! It's not solely up to Tuomas though, I'm pretty sure I read/watched an interview where he said he wrote Shudder before the beautiful with Floor's operatic vocals in mind, but Floor decided to sing it with a non-operatic style:P
@@MP-yf3sy I've seen several interviews within the last year or so saying the same thing...she doesn't really like singing in the "true" opera style (lowered larynx, bigger vibrato, etc) that much. So anyone pining for more operatic vocals on the next NW CD will be like the Norwegian Blue, pining for the fjords :). So watch them prove me wrong lol.
It never gets tireing watching someone's first Floorgasam, but to see six of them simultaneously? Priceless!
And behind that the emerging dread of what they have gotten themselves into. :)

Te bedenken dat daar misschien ergens in het publiek een jong meisje stond die later bekend zou worden als een van de beste meest veelzijdige vocalisten.. dit was naar ik begrijp de inspiratie van Floor om in een metalband te gaan.
Ik denk dat er vooral negatief naar gekeken werd en misschien nog steeds word, immers gothic, zwart, duister, depressief en dus als negatief opgevat terwijl het juist zo mooi is om in te zien dat net zo wezenlijk deel van leven is als dat wat als positief opgevat word, zonder water geen maan, Yin yang, één beweging, verschuiving van balans in kracht.
Wellicht zou er gekeken moeten worden om een jaarlijks festival op te zetten voor alternatieve muziek zoals Lowlands ooit was.

@@Pepenez It is close to the German spoken in the northern parts of Germany but we, in the southwestern part are more familiar with French. But in the written form you can definitely find many similarities so as a German you should be able to read the context out of a text.
@@dazlak69 agreed, I live in the North East part of the Netherlands and I am a dialect speaker. For others outside this region it sounds like a Dutch/German mixture and the fun thing is the Germans across the border are speaking a similar dialect, so we can understand eachother perfectly. Not a big suprise since we are 'lower saxon' too. I guess it is safe to say that a lot of dialect speakers are able to understand Dutch and German on both sides of the borders.

My favorite Floor's performance so far. I see her in her natural habitat!
It's a German song. Even though I'm German I had to look up the lyrics. She just reaches notes so high that it is hard to understand. But once I read the lyrics, I was blown away... she basically sang with hardly any accent at all. Amazing performance for a non native speaker.

Actually that is not entirely the case Henk Poort already said in the intro he considered it redicilous that is not a household name yet. So atleast he already knew who she was. However it is pretty clear the rest did not.😁. Funny detail she was also the very first to sing on this show. Don't you pitty the person who has to follow up that performance?😂😂

I'm amazed that they said on this programme that Floor is not well known in her home country, the Netherlands. Then again if it hadn't been for Reaction channels on TH-cam I would never had found Nightwish and Floor Jansen. Very sad state of affairs. Says a lot about the validity and standards of commercial music on radio and television world wide.
Radio doesn't play a lot of metal, except for some specialist stations.
If you want to find music that you like, you will. You can blame commercial media all you want, but in the end it's your fault for relying on commercial sources and not seeking out music yourself.
It's more of a culture thing. I have a very broad musical taste, but the only thing that gets a negative response from people is metal. Probably the calvinistic thought best reflected in the very commonly used phrase: 'doe normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg' which translates to 'act normal and you'll act crazy enough'.
And this she learned in school back in the day, EPIC day Floor never dissapoints ❤😍😜🌹

@@nickw1822 Real Opera doesn't require that much talent. What you need is a DNA BIG voice, determination, time and training. Nothing more really. Microphone opera you can find at any X-factor show.
