      Yes.
Ducatis in house lability lawyers (just like every other manufacturer) understand that if EVERY detail for a repair ISN'T provided to a monkey (who only has limited tool skills and a basic tool kit), then some rich monkey with a lawyer will file a suit attempting to place liability on the manufacturer for repair costs and injury/death. Giving NO info for basic repairs AND stating "See Ducati Dealer", severely limits the monkeys lawyers from fling poo at Ducati after their 'sh!t the bed' repair work.
Blame it on the litigious society in which we live. Lawyers gotta eat.

Hands down THE BEST bike review video of all time! As a duc owner I can wholeheartedly identify with the "getting made" buying experience, the "WTF were they thinking" on the cheap ass components, and the "Holy SHIT, this is the greatest bike in the world" feeling, all in the same moment!

    • @pilotalan
      @pilotalan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +41

Agreed to all of the above. The Multistrada DVT is both the most fun bike I've ever had, the most flexible, and the most infuriating.
The TFT screen is made of cheese and scratches if you look at it. The "handguards" are made of the cheapest, flimsiest plastic you've ever seen and have both a turn signal and the brake/clutch reservoirs mounted to them, so when they break (when, not if), it's far more problematic than it should be.
But I grin like a maniac every time I get on it.

Hard to say with this one. After spending a full day with it yesterday, I'm 100% sure that my other bikes are going to be the ones sitting in the garage while I ride the DX.
That said, I think a lot of riders are going to find that it is too tall for them and sell it because they can't get confident with the reach to the ground. I saw the same thing happen with the Scrambler 1200 XEs. Eventually fully farkled bikes start popping up used with pretty low mileage and no dirt use and you can get a killer deal.

Ducati captures something for me that no other brand could. My Hypermotard 1100S is the most fun bike I've ever owned, and I've owned a ton of bikes. It captures that balance between a wild animal and docile labrador and gives me a huge smile every time I hop on. I hate the dealership experience, but man are the bikes fun.

You have to look where he lives, and the roads he has access to. He lives in heaven, in some respects. Look at that footage of Canada. It's just unreal beautiful. I live in WA state, and there are a lot of gravel roads, but it's so dry during the summer that it's not really exciting thinking about going into the woods much, so I explore all the paved roads. If I lived where he did, I'd also want a dirt focused bike. I'm not sure everyone has so much access to wilderness like that? I live in the country, but there's nothing like his footage, omg.

I want to buy all the new ADV bikes, because they are all so awesome.
But the ultimate clincher is that none of the modern ADV bikes are geared for real world riding, they do not have an overdrive. Instead, they are geared like dirt bikes, despite American roadways being 80mph to 85mph as a standard.
There should be a class action lawsuit against bikes like the Pan American Harley for not giving people a proper overdrive gear; it is engineering negligence, and it's intentional. The Pan America is geared the same as all the other bikes, like the Honda Transalp 750, which means the engine is literally screaming down the road at 80mph at 5,500 rpm.
Without an overdrive, you cause twice the engine wear, your require twice the spark plugs, twice the oil changes, and burn significantly more fuel.

I owned a lot of the classic adventure bikes before the new wave set forth by the T7 when it came out. Started on a Transalp, followed by the granddaddy of them all the 34l XTZ 600L otherwise know as the 1st gen Tenere in that iconic Gauloise color setting. Many followed, amongst others there was that other icon the Cagiva Elefant in Lucky strike livery. Memorable yes; handled great, sounded great but also was still very Italian. Leaks, rattles, the odd electronics failing randomly. So it passed. What didn't was that Tenere, it just kept chucking along next it time sakes while dreaming of a modern re-creation. So naturally when that T7 Rally came out I emptied that piggybank and got the first one in the country. Was it all I hoped it would be? Well close; the handeling was second to non, it looked great and given that it's build by the Toyota equivalent of motorcycle brands I would confidently take it for a RTW trip. But coming of mainly big twins it felt almost electric-like smooth driving off for the first time, it lacked soul. And then there's the wind buffeting which still annoys me (granted I haven't tried much to resolve it yet). Would that be enough to ride it for a year or two and trade it in for the next best thing? Absolutely not. Will it it be joined by like minded younger companions like this Desert X; most likely. But showing of stuff like that seat or all the gazillion options on electronics that can and most likely will break at some point and the fact that I'm well versed with Italian build quality means that those Tenere's aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Because when the time come for that RTW trip there are few other capable machines that I'd wholeheartedly trust to get me there.

Go back two, three, and more years, when Aneesh was still the editor and cinematographer; the quality then was even above this video.
Ryan still does the witty writing and spiffy presenting, but the rest is not on the same level any longer. Those years, when Ryan and Aneesh worked solely as a duo, brought forth arguably the best motorcycle content ever made for TH-cam. Truly masterful.

Absolutely hilarious video with a great review of the DesertX embedded within. The only part that caused a stomach knot was the snow segment which caused a major flashback to the time I stuck my Cagiva Gran Canyon on a snowy downhill leading to frantic digging, pushing, and reving trying to beat darkness. I did & lesson learned.

Wonderful. Excellent video, as ever. This brings back old times. I was on the brink (right there) of buying a 750 Elefant in maybe 1991. I'd ridden it. It was insane. It was everything. It was more than everything. I was familiar with the (then considered massive) R80 G/S. The Cagiva was more of everything. Much more. I am 5'8". It was madness. Delerium.
Then a good friend said "Check the service and parts costs for a Ducati 750 motor... and the parts cost for brakes and this and that....
The dream folded and crumbled and went.
On that occasion I got a Guzzi.
But the evaporated dream of a 750 Elefant lingers still. It was in "Lucky Explorer" livery. I can see it still.
But I have fed my family these past thirty-plus years on the money I didn't spend on parts and service. Wonderful dream. Mad reality. Then, as now, these things lived on tarmac. Slowly.

So I just bought a Desert X after watching many vids. My dealer happened to have a demo bike that had 1,400 miles on it. When I picked up my bike the rules of break-in were typical but there is a map code that really will not allow the bike to do much after 6k RPM. Now going back and watching all of these vids on new bikes makes me wonder how many got to ride a unit that was ready to go, break-in overwith and everything functioning like I did? The Demo bike was very fast but I hear some say it is only decently fast. I could not disagree more. Now I have a Super Duke EVO, just sold a Gen 2 Vmax as well so fast is not foreign to me. This bike when broken in scoots quite impressively. The biggest surprise is the stability in corners, this bike will slay my R1250GS in every way so I am letting the GS go!
