I always preferred Virtua Cop over Time Crisis or House of the Dead. It’s not as flashy or exciting, but it has a rhythm to the game play, the stages are designed with a cadence that makes them so satisfying to learn and master. One of my very favourite Saturn games :)
I respect your opinion even tho time crisis is my fav. And your right tho I feel like vc series is easy to learn but hard to master you know. That game is amazing

@@SadisticFusion The funny thing was. Once you bundled in a memory card and a game, the price difference wasn't all that much. Admittedly the Saturn game with Virtua Fighter where as the PlayStation gave you a choice. Not many people seem to take it into account though.

@@mikeball5960 The Sinden? If so then yeah. Haven't gotten around to getting one yet but I am super interested, especially because then I could play a lot of the ones that never got a home release through MAME.
Always loved the Virtua Cop arcade games. Virtua Cop was actually one of the primary influences on Rare's game design for GoldenEye 007 on the N64 (GoldenEye's game design was basically Virtua Cop + Doom).
Finally, just got my Sega Stunner after 20 years of wanting one. Playing VC2 on my Sony 32 Trinitron - this 36 year-old finally can fulfill his childhood dream.
I still think these are the best console light gun games ever. In the arcade, I played Virtua Cop 2 before the original, and that opening jewelry store robbery was just so striking that it stuck with me permanently. I remember being on a school trip to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City and having about $13 left for souvenirs or what have you that day, and spending nearly all of it playing Virtua Cop 2 instead. It was worth it, as the fond memory has stuck with me as well as any trinket possibly could have, and guided later game buying decisions that certainly were excellent.
This channel is lit. I remember a friend owning a Sega Saturn and i used to borrow it from time to tim. He had the original Virtua Cop. So much fun. I just kept playing it over and over again.
I remember playing the PC ports of these games back in the day. Sure, it isn't the same with a mouse but as an often-skint kid I wasn't fussy. You should keep in mind that most light gun games can be enjoyed in VR. I don't know if you've tried it, but don't knock it until you do. Trust me, I was blown away by the stunningly realistic CRT televisions in my virtual bedroom in EmuVR. While I obviously can't relive the atmosphere of the arcade, playing light gun games using EmuVR really does feel like the good old days at home.
Virtua Cop 3 does use Xbox tech in the arcades, but the tech is based on the Xbox development/Debug version of the console, which has twice as much RAM as the retail Xbox. If you have a debug Xbox, you can play it perfectly however.
Never played Virtua Cop 3 until I tried it in CXBX with the Sinden Lightgun. That was a blast. Took a bit to get it working, but it's accurate and fun to use. Hope a full legitimate home release happens as I'd like to have a legit copy with native support. In the meantime, I'll enjoy what I can.
Considering the only console with something similar enough to a light gun to work being the switch I'm thinking if this House of the Dead remake succeeds we may see a lot more games like that coming to it.
I loved Virtua Cop 2 so much, when the game released, I actually cut up part of my original Sega Saturn console box in order to make a Saturn themed cardboard gun holster, which I stuck to the side of my TV, just to house my Virtua Gun, ready to pull out anytime I wanted to play Virtua Cop! Those were the days heh. Easily two of my favourite light gun games! AM2 on form as always. Sure it only had 3 stages, but the replay value was immense. Great video as usual.
This was my first and only PC game growing up as a kid. I played it on a Hewlett Packard. I used a flight stick to aim and shoot. It was alot of fun getting my mom to play with me and id play it over and over getting a little better each time until I could beat the entire game and then id do it over again. I had a Super Nintendo back then. But this was my favorite game as a kid.
I love this game, it was a good stress reliever after a day of college classes. Still got my Saturn games along with my MadCatz light gun...very pleased with how good the Saturn ports were.
Great video..... Virtua cop was something special. First game I spent 2 dollars on so I can hold both guns since they wasn’t attached upright to the board like operation: Wolf and Operation: Thunderbolt.
Some points: VC2 on the Sega Saturn did have some extra content in the 'Saturn Path' you could take at that one point in the game. VC1 & 2 also both had 'cowboy mode', which was impossible in other gun games.
I can't state how disappointed I was that Virtua Cop 3 didn't make it to a home console, especially given its arcade hardware roots. We had House of the Dead 3 on the Xbox (which also has House of the Dead 2 locked away), suggesting that some amount of hope wasn't unjustified. As for the Saturn ports of Virtua Cop 1 & 2. Absolutely smashing games that every Saturn owner should consider adding to their collection. They are not games I would play with a gamepad so it's been a while since I have played them. When it becomes viable to have a CRT kicking around the gun games with be the first to get their day in the sun.
I'm still amazed I didn't know there was a 3 until very recently. Never saw it in an arcade or heard of it at all until it was brought up in some comment section. Then again by the time it came out the arcades in the US were on life support and pretty much dead.

Remember getting Virtua cop 2 for my 16th birthday. Going to electronics boutique and then running home to play with the light gun on my 14inch Panasonic TV. Classic days
I used to play this in the arcades with both guns at the same time. That was truly a super fun experience. And one of the few games I could do that with.
I remember Virtua Cop was one of the mere five games we had for our Sega Saturn, my brother and I played it a lot, but I can't for the life of me remember how we played it with controllers. I know for a fact we did not have Stunners.
I love light gun games! Virtua Cop, House of the Dead and Time Crisis were my favorites. I'D LOVE VR PORTS OF ALL OF THESE GAMES! VR has been my go to place for the evolution of the arcade light gun experience, except now you are literally in the game! You need to check out Stuff like Crisis Vrigade, and Pistol Whip!
I miss Virtua Cop. I got it with my Saturn when they were bundling it with the first VC, Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA in an effort to drive sales. Didn't have the gun, but whatever. Still liked what it had to offer. To this day, I still haven't played the second one. I hope to change that in the future.
If it wasn't for the fact I would run into the arcade machine in movie theaters, pizza places and actual arcades I wouldn't have that much experience with it myself. My experience with the Saturn itself was extremely limited I have yet to own one and finding one these days ain't easy or cheap.
I feel like Ghost Squad on the Wii needs a shout out. That port was pure crack. I would play multiple playthroughs in the same session. It made me buy one of those big silly rifle shells so I could get something like the arcade rifle experience. Ooh, mid typing this I just remembered I can emulate it in HD and I have a Dolphinbar thats gathering dust... might be time again.
I played the heck out of VC and VC2 on my Saturn with the orange Stunner guns back when. They were really great ports of the arcade games. VC2 in particular was spectacular.
I love these games so much both of them were early purchases for me on the Saturn. Me and my brothers put this on whenever they come over for a visit and just have a blast for like an hour. I miss light gun games.
It took a while to really dig gun games. Until Virtua Cop! I got a Saturn bundle with it. Wow, the graphics blew my mind, but the physics pushed it over the top for me! I remember shooting chandeliers in a bank that swayed, shooting tires out made the car wobble and buck, blowing up m- there’s always something new to find to plink away at just to see what might happen! And the 2nd and stellar Confidential Mission are few in library but high quality!
Love me some Virtua Cop. Someone even made a 'de-make' for the Pico-8! Confidential Mission was also great to play. Far as House Of The Dead's Saturn port...ugh...I remember my friends and I snuck into the Uwe Boll movie waiting for another movie we wanted to see begin and at the end they used the Saturn graphics for a scene and I screamed 'WTF?WHY WOULDN'T YOU USE THE ARCADE VERSION, BOLL???'
Good memories just coming flooding back hearing the music and the effects. I'm glad you did the side by side with the arcade and saturn. I was looking forward to that. Great port but man does it look krispy in the arcade.
I got Virtua Cop 2 for Christmas of whatever year it came out. Loved it. It's the one game that makes me want to get the Saturn out and hook it back up to my old slightly busted crt.
Virtua Cop 2 was fantastic fun with the light gun back in the day, got it as a present for my saturn and had hours of fun blasting away with it. I used to hide behind the sofa and jump out trying to shoot the enemy, only to fail miserably 🤣
This may be weird to say, but thanks for making shorter videos. I don’t always have time/patience for long videos; but you pack great content into 10-14 minutes. Thanks!
Virtua Cop 3? That's the first time I'm hearing of this one and I practically lived in the arcades from the mid 80s until 2006, or so. Now I really want to see it in action. I definitely have fond memories of playing Virtua Cop 1 and 2 with my brother in the arcade and eventually the Saturn. We kind of went for the hostages a bit too often. 2 is still my favorite light gun game, though for the Saturn I played it with a controller (I know it's the worst way to play, but I was a teenager with little money at the time). I play the Japanese version now with my daughter (properly with 2 light guns) since I left my US copies in the states. She is a bit too quick to kill the hostages and I'm a bit ashamed of that. A CRT is definitely the way to go. This video seriously brought back memories.
Great reviews dude! Got them both, to this day Im still impressed with the level of quality with these games. Two Stunners and a 36" CRT make for some kick ass couch co-ops at parties.
Aside from the lower resolution the Virtua Cop games are nearly identical on the Saturn. In fact I played the first game so much I got pretty good at the actual arcade game. My friend and I took turns on the Saturn going for high scores. Since you loose your multiplier when you get hit we reset every time we took any damage. Eventually we could finish the game on normal difficulty without ever getting hit. Sadly I can't stand in front of screen for that long now. The problems with age. Lol. Since light guns don't work on modern TVs,well they do have Move controller shooters on the PS3 which are fine,I have a separate area set up just for light gun games, link cable PS1 games and 2nd generation systems. With both the Saturn and PS1 in there and like 6 different kinds of guns as well as 10 games that use them(including Elemental Gearbolt which, thanks to Working Designs is way harder than it needs to be),I can give my 15 year old cousin and 11 year old niece an idea of what the games were like to play back in the day.
Elemental Gearbolt was one of those games I would see here and there back in the day and never actually got but boy did I wish I had considering how ridiculous the price for it these days is. I remember when I was in my mid-20s a now long defunked game shop at han absolutely pristine complete copy for like $30 or $40. Yep that mistake really sticks with me.
Sinden lightgun has opened the interest for lightgun games again. And there are more projects in development for more lightguns, so there will be more lightgun games.
loved virtua cop series. i remember when it came out, the gun bundle was all sold out where I was so I had to buy the standalone. Luckily, I managed to obtain a japanese gun from my local import shop. way cooler than the US/European versions as it was all in black. Also, there was a TV programme called Gamesmaster in the UK, there was a guy on it who for a challenge completed Virtua Cop with 2 guns and no hits. I remember trying to recreate that at home, my arms would get tired far too quickly though. Still it was fun playing the game in a Chow Yun Fat type way.
I've never been much of a fan of lightgun games; the sole exception to this were the Virtua Cop and Time Crisis games; I really like both of these series.
"Are they still worth playing" of course included the calculation "Where the F am I gonna get a CRT?" 😂 I saw a gadget on some other youtube channel that allows traditional lightguns to be used on flat panels but... seems like a lot of work. Thanks Sega Lord!

I wish Sega would release a compilation of Virtual Cop's 1 and 2 for all modern consoles. I would get for my PS 4 or Switch in a heartbeat.
Dude I could listen to you talk games ALL DAY👍👏
This game on sega Saturn is one of my favorite of all time
Virtua Cop 3 is actually amazing. I’d love a home port
Virtual Cop was my first experience with light gun shooters. Been hooked ever since!
I love these and have the Saturn versions now, but I originally played them mostly on PC. Those were great ports for the time.
I keep my Saturn hooked up to a CRT television in my bedroom just to play “Virtua Cop.” One of my all-time favorite arcade games.
Mr lord x. You are the sage of saturn knowledge!
Yes, now it's time for virtua cop sequel
I used to have both games for the Saturn. Both great games.
I remember every section of this game still lolol. Love the soundtrack and the mech kingpin
Virtua Cop 2 was fantastic fun with the light gun back in the day, got it as a present for my saturn and had hours of fun blasting away with it. I used to hide behind the sofa and jump out trying to shoot the enemy, only to fail miserably 🤣
Had a blast with them. My dad and I played this all the time
This may be weird to say, but thanks for making shorter videos. I don’t always have time/patience for long videos; but you pack great content into 10-14 minutes. Thanks!
Yes another great visual stroll down memory lane thanks to Sega lord x and his knack of dropping brilliant content thanks man.,😉😉😉
Love this game. Perfectly gameplay for old game.
I loved playing the first one with the gun. When the second game arrived on the shelfs I was put off by there only being 3 stages, again.
I remember having a SEGA game collection CD-ROM disc that included Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter, and a racing game for the PC.
This game is the reason I purchased the Sinden Lightgun. That gun is worth every penny.
Point blank 2 was my go too light gun game. This was a very close second after time crisis.
Played virtual cop 2 while I was doing my tests for the military. Only got to do one test. So had lots of time to play.
Hotd on Saturn is a true tragedy.
It is as "mosque Censored" (THOTD) version for me.
A 'tenner' not often you hear that outside of the UK! Good vid SLX.
I had those PC ports. VC2 was especially sublime!
Sinden lightgun has opened the interest for lightgun games again. And there are more projects in development for more lightguns, so there will be more lightgun games.
One of my favorite Saturn games.
another great upload, as always. played so much of the first one with a controller wew
loved virtua cop series. i remember when it came out, the gun bundle was all sold out where I was so I had to buy the standalone.
Pink cop car as better :D
Great video brother!
I remember playing this game with my cousin on windows 7 laptop
Love the Easter egg @5.51 with Sarah Bryant (Virtua Fighter)
"Are they still worth playing" of course included the calculation "Where the F am I gonna get a CRT?" 😂 I saw a gadget on some other youtube channel that allows traditional lightguns to be used on flat panels but... seems like a lot of work. Thanks Sega Lord!
The Virtual Cop series is so good I have played and continue to play this on the Sega Saturn WITHOUT a light gun.
Great video as always
Love this in the arcade!
