Nah, this game sucked in every way possible. Back in the day I would try to play the first game but it was boring. I didn't try the 2nd because it was almost impossible. The third I played the most and it was hard af because the graphics were so back and the controls were awful. I wanted to love this game because I'm a huge Die Hard fan but it sucked.
It always makes me think of cotton candy because when I rented this game for PS1 back in 1998, my mom bought me a bag of cotton candy and I ate it while splattering pedestrians in the driving portion of the game.
The political "correctness" sure killed humor and lilttle things like this. In sweden we have classic kid sagas like Pippi Långstrump and is one of the victims... its like 50 years old an every kid seen it or read it, yet the manic ret had to muppiefie it.
Absolutely loved this on my Saturn, rented it from blockbuster about 20 times before i bought it myself. Funny thing is, 16yr old me never noticed any of it's glaring faults and crappy graphics - just loved the gameplay, which is how it should be. Still not played the sequel on ps1.....
Funniest thing is Fox only wanted Probe to make the Die Hard with a Vengence part as the whole game, Probe had to fight them to add the other segments as they felt it was too limited and would get terrible reviews. Die Hard 1 was the final mode they made too. There's also a Die Hard Trilogy 2 on PS1 set in Las Vegas, plays the same beats as the original, bu made by a totally seperate developer.

Yeah it was definitely a very different time in gaming back then. Blood and gore was totally fine but apparently swearing was a big No-No still which is ridiculous for an M rated game. Then again look at the first Max Payne game.
Ironic since the game itself is M for Mature and all 3 Die Hard films before Live Free or Die Hard were Rated R, and they still can't have someone swear? Dir Hard: Nakatomi Plaza was the same way too despite it being M for Mature.
This was my 4th Saturn game. Totally loved it and nobody noticed that the playstation version looked a bit better. We still had tons of fun with it. I am kinda surprised by the 3rd part though, looks like that Driver game released in '99
You know, I never made the connection between Alien Trilogy and Die Hard Trilogy, I assume because of the fact that each game follows an entirely different format. That said, it's an interesting idea. It actually kind of got me thinking about which movie trilogies I'd like to see video games based on.

What a near coincidence. I played a kiosk of DHT (maybe for the Saturn), but I thought it was at a BestBuy. It was impressive in its size and the ability to use a light gun. It was a very special kiosk for sure.
Amazing for the time when I had it on PSX, Die Hard 2 was by far the most advanced rail shooter back then, with an astonishingly destructive environment and really cool secrets for accurate shooters!
It was one of the first games I ever played on PS1, and it was absolutely amazing. Still has some magic in it, like, it was what many modern games turned into, but 20 some years back - now we have those open map cities and office space fights in many many games, and game mechanics is still mostly similar.
I was laughing hard at the footage of running over the civilians in the 2nd game and using the wipers to clean blood off the windshield, and keep going like nothing was happening out of the ordinary, lol
A 2nd person shooter would be a game where you play as the person who gets shot by the main character. Kind of a weird concept. I like the 3rd person shooter concept, it has a certain feel to it like GTA 3
One of my favorite Saturn games! Between that, Alien Trilogy and this Sci Fi pinball they did on PC, Fox Interactive seemed so promising as a publisher for a bit there.
Now Fox as a whole is completely dead essentially now that they're owned by Disney. But yeah there was almost a moment there where they had something. But surprise surprise it's Fox so of course they blew it.
They actually stopped making games in 2002. Fox interactive sold there assets to viendi universal who then became Activision. It's because of that reason why a lot of fox interactive games are in limbo

Breaking my new rule of silence on TH-cam to recommend anyone who has nostalgia for this game check out the multipart making-of documentary that can be found on TH-cam. It's a fascinating blast from the past showing them developing the game.
Amazingly enough this was one of the games in my somewhat small childhood collection of ps1 games. I was 13 playing this in 1997. Loved the third game, it truly was breathtaking for its time.
Had a lot of fun with Die Hard Trilogy on the ps1 back in the day. I remember you could get the car physics in the 3rd game to go absolutely bonkers in the more open areas, turning it into a high velocity, drifting, civilian mowing, death machine. Good times.

Really good comparison! Having recently gotten back into the PS version - determined to complete the 1st game. Also always remember the mirror view bottom right when you are being targeted is better on PS - no reflection on Saturn
1995 or 1996. I did not know anything about Playstation or Saturn.Very first game I saw running on polygon was NBA in Zone at UL Lafayette. Ridge racer was that game that taught me how to drive. There was an old man and he 'd passed,bless his soul.I've never driven a car before. I said ok,this would be ridge racer.
I was 10 when I got my Saturn and had to beg my older sister (RIP) to go into EB and buy it for me as it was an 18 rated game if I remember correctly…Always had a blast playing this and loved nothing more than watching the movies than playing the game. Things were so much simpler back then.
I remember wen I was about 16 and I was in my first job after leaving school I was on the 6am till 2pm shift and the one night I sat up all night playing this game on the playstation I was dead the next day and past out as soon as I got in did that alot wen I was younger I still do play video games all night but not wen I've got work it's too much I'd end up calling in sick
I completely forgot about this game yet I really liked it on Saturn. The car section is great and perhaps worth the price alone. The first game was very limited but I think I had fun with it, it was a fresh idea to me at the time though technically it's kind of poor. And yeah, the light gun section is a disaster. I'm not sure it would have been good even if it ran properly, the way the camera moves around is very unrefined compared to Virtua Cop.

I used to put in the cheat code to remove the timer in die hard 3 and just explore the streets like an open world driving game and I loved it. Driver came out a few years later and was everything I wanted at the time.
My younger brother and I would play Die Hard Trilogy, Die Hard Arcade, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Area 51, Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop and Daytona USA everyday after school, back in 1996 and 1997. All on our SEGA Saturn. Good memories.
I had this game as a kid then I loaned it to a friend and he never returned it … but that’s ok because I borrowed need for speed underground for ps2 and never returned it 😁
I still have this and Die Hard Trilogy 2. I still enjoy it to this day and like Alien Trilogy I was very surprised that Probe turned in another solid outing. Die Hard Trilogy 2, developed by n-Space (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, 007 Bloodstone, Geist) wasn't as well received but overall I thought it was OK. It's basically the same type of gameplay with the 3 different genre's but instead of it being a trilogy of films it's just one all new overarching story with McLane going to Vegas and taking on terrorists. Another solid video Sega Lord 👍
On the plus side, the Die Harder section does have a hidden debug mode that lets you create your own scenarios. Me and my mate had hours and hours of fun messing with that.
I work with a guy who just bought 15 (fifteen) Saturns. He's replacing all capacitors, adding an optical disc emulator to each unit and de-yellowing the cases, then plans on selling most of them. It's cool knowing people are working to keep these older systems alive!
This is one of my fav ps1 games I played back in the day. the codes in the 1st movie cracked me up. Was able to make enemies float up when they die and slow down the voice acting.
i played a demo of this from a magazine right about the time the ps1 launched and initially i thought the game was really impressive. but a few years in not so much, super fun game though
Now that's an absolutely true statement. No question at all if I wanted to play a die hard game (even if it's one that's not technically a real die hard game Dynamite cop and all that, I forget it's Japanese name something similar) arcade is still the go-to no question.
It's worth noting that while you can play Die Hard 2 with a Stunner light gun on Saturn, on PS the game isn't compatible with the Namco lightgun and requires a specific peripheral. It's also worth noting that the last time I played this with a Stunner on Saturn, the screen flashed so much it made me sick. I'm not sure if it's the same on PS, but if you have photosensitive epilepsy, exercise extreme caution when playing this game.
I had no idea that Die Hard Trilogy and Alien Trilogy were made by the same developers. Were we supposed to pick up on that? Was the marketing idea for us to see this as the "Trilogy" series?
It was a fantastic game! It is a fantastic game. You get 3 great games, which are wastly different to each other for the price of one! And back in the days, where lightguns were working part 2 with a namco lightgun was just pure joy. And even the music was great, alone in the select screen!

This game is so cool. I first played it on the PSX, now own it on the Saturn. It uses the light gun which is sweet. The driving levels were awesome but hard. It was like crazy taxi and also utilizes the arcade racing wheel.
I remember reading online about alien trilogy originally was planned to be 3 parts in this style, but they changed it radically and that's how die hard arcade was born before the licence was secured! I'd say a 1st person like the original, a shooting game and a 3rd game driving the APC would have been interesting.
Not even exaggerating: this is one of my top 10 favourite games. I'm down for a playthrough of Die Hard 1 and 2 any time.

There is a series of vhs videos uploaded on TH-cam from a guy who worked on this game and he documented the candid moments and development.

Looks like the ps version has a longer draw distance and more stable frame rate.
And even on the PS the draw distance isn't great. But to be fair, most PS 3rd person games look awful today

The Die Hard 2 part of the game was popular with my mates when I bought the game and a light gun for the OG Playstation.

Ah yes i have fond memories of this game a lot of Saturday nights playing with a controller with no problems. One of my all time favorite games.

Huh... I was able to play it with the Namco gun on PS. I come from Australia though so it might be different.
I avoided this game because the back looked like a bad rail shooter but it actually looks pretty fun

It was a fantastic game! It is a fantastic game. You get 3 great games, which are wastly different to each other for the price of one! And back in the days, where lightguns were working part 2 with a namco lightgun was just pure joy. And even the music was great, alone in the select screen!
2 x (CABBY) at the start up screen was the cheat code for this game 👍 I remember I needed it because the game was so hard 😂 good memories tho 💥👍

Loved this on the PlayStation so much!! Even loved Vengeance. The controls needed some getting used to but it was so much fun.
I have the PS1 version. It's just okay. The most fun to get out of the game is using the various cheatcodes.
Keep em coming sir. I loved this game when I got it back in the day. Also don’t forget the second game which is CRAZY rare and expensive nowadays. I had it on PlayStation and one of my best friends had it on Saturn.

This and Ridge Racer were my first PS1 games, had so much fun with them. My personal favorite is the 2nd game of this trilogy.

This game is so cool. I first played it on the PSX, now own it on the Saturn. It uses the light gun which is sweet. The driving levels were awesome but hard. It was like crazy taxi and also utilizes the arcade racing wheel.
I remember reading online about alien trilogy originally was planned to be 3 parts in this style, but they changed it radically and that's how die hard arcade was born before the licence was secured!
I'd say a 1st person like the original, a shooting game and a 3rd game driving the APC would have been interesting.
DH1 and WaV were great, 2 woulda been great with lightgun control. Sega Lord you are the shining light in the darkness
I loved this game as a kid. We had it on Saturn, & we managed to beat the second game.
