As someone who grew up poor af in Detroit, but had my mother still bust her ass to get me evey dumbass sega, 3D0, nintendon't and PSX through the 90s, I am mortified not having the rich collection of classic games I had twenty years ago due to issues after mom died back in the day. Wow sounds like you had an awesome mother :) I can’t imagine you’d learn anything from my channel as I’m learning as I go along haha but I’m super happy you’re coming along for the journey! :)
Saturn version has the lakeside track and extra car the Lancia Stratos if you can complete the game. Great video, also the changing of the lense was very informative new sub 👍
@@ScottMadeAThing I would definitely spend some time with the Saturn version it's bloody brilliant. th-cam.com/video/xR0sfs_hDGk/w-d-xo.html I set some times for you 😉👍
@ScottMadeAThing definitely spend more time on it such a great racer. th-cam.com/video/xR0sfs_hDGk/w-d-xo.html hopefully this will give you some times to beat 😜👍
I bought my original Saturn because I used to spend so much money playing sega rally in the arcade. It plays absolutely beautifully, I’ll never understand how they translated the feel of wheel and pedals so well to a digital pad. The response and momentum are just perfect. The 4th track absolutely is there, and it’s fierce difficult, the sides are super sticky and take all your speed away. An extra car and mirror modes are your rewards for completion.
When you finish a video with a huge smile on your face, you just know you have to subscribe. I thoroughly enjoyed this video for the humour alone, I shall be binging the rest of your videos 👏🏻
Yeah! I found that, if only they made a mix of the two so you could have the arcade graphics with the advanced modes and customisation of the Saturn version!
I was also 13 when i first saw Sega rally in the arcades! I love my saturn and sega rally. Beautiful video and great skills, just subscribed on your channel.
Two player is definitely the best. Although my dad used to win all the time, claiming that you could go faster using manual, I tried manual a few times in the arcade and either he was just better than his teenage son or I just suck at manual in games haha
Thank you dude! I hope I pronounced your channel right, I was gonna ask if you’d prefer your name instead, it took 6 takes to say it and even then I had to edit the audio to remove an extra S I somehow got into it when I thought I’d finished the take 😂😂
Ehm ok, so how did I miss this channel? Also, tip for those who wanna calibrate their laser. Mark your starting position with a marker before turning the adjustment pot.
Another brilliant video (and not just because I got such a lovely shout-out and my own board). Well done on another informative and entertaining video. :)
I liked the Sega Saturn better than the Playstation one. Me and my cousin would sit for hours racing each other on Sega Rally getting stoned. Great times RIP cousin Chris.
I’m putting tape over my webcam now. Haha I literally got out the old Dreamcast (just to find the Sega Rally 2 CD) and remembered the last time I tried to play it, it wasn’t working. The list of things to fix for the channel just keeps on growing 😂
The Sega guys utube channel covers Sega rally championship on the Saturn & explains that the game was not an arcade port , but built from the ground up using the Saturns architecture & chips 😊
Aha! Gonna check that out. I should be more careful using the word ‘port’ really, it’s not interchangeable with ‘version’. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for watching :)
@ Not at tall , it’s mind blowing that there’s still soo much love for the Saturn 30 years later , so any info & great videos like yours are always appreciated , I brought one on release & never regretted it , like having the arcade in the home back then & still is 😃
If it wasn't for the fact that you can emulate the model 3 version of Sega Rally 2, it would've been awesome to see someone make an improved version of the Dreamcast port to make it more like the arcade original.
Such a shame there was no proper steering wheel for the Saturn, such a great game. I bought a Saturn when CVG magazine told us to (Dec 1996, specifically because that month you could be playing VF2, Virtua Cop and Sega Rally over Xmas) and I played those three games to death on my Japanese Saturn.
That would have been amazing! I briefly considered looking into how I could adapt an analog wheel to make my own and then soon after realised a)I’d be out of my depth and b)this video would have taken another two months to make haha. That 1996 Xmas must have been the best! Thanks for watching :)
@@ScottMadeAThing Probably still a lot better than the Colecovision Turbo expansions steering wheel I had :) Yeah, still remember it, saw an advert in the newspaper for a Japanese Saturn all boxed and mint condition so I drove to the other side of London and picked it up the next day after reading CVG magazines. I went to the local import gaming store and got those 3 games CVG magazine said you had to buy a Saturn just to play and they were right, VF2 and Rally were better than Tekken 2 and Ridge Racer Revolution on my PS1. Rally handles like a dream, VF2 for me played like the best beat 'em up ever and Virtua Cop made you feel like Sonny Crockett in Miami Vice with those large black plastic Lightguns. Still have that Saturn and the Japanese imports of VF2 and Rally. There is also a really cheeky knock off of Sega Rally on the PS1 called African Rally I think, you should check it out for a laugh.
Ah I love to hear nostalgic nuggets of history like that! You can bet I’m going to be spending some of the very near future checking out African Rally haha, thanks 😂
@@ScottMadeAThing haha very cheeky rip-off, surprised it was allowed. There is also a Daytona USA style game on PS1 called Burning Road I think, one of the tracks is definitely from the arcade and the handling is the same weird rear wheel steering of Daytona USA.
"Easy left maybe" makes zero sense as a codriver call. You might hear "jump maybe" because you might hit the rise at a different speed each time, but a left maybe? You mean you don't know?
Haha! Even though I know nothing about out rally driving, after I finally worked out that he was saying ‘maybe’ and not ‘baby’ (neither made sense), I was thinking surely they would know the track enough to be able to confirm if it’s easy or medium! 😂
I have to admire the speed at which computers can replicate things then add it's own version of a phrase like 'polygon count' and come up with 'model vertex density'. Strange... But not wrong. Keep it up mother brain. But I am moving for transparency on such media as this which will require an AI tag for public clarity.
It does start to mess with your head though. Too many auto-bot videos and bad joke algorithm is only heartening in that I am vindicated that humour is the most complex form of prose.
