    The Holy Spirit and the Holy Church, the Bride of Christ, say, “Come… Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.” (Rev. 22:17; Prv. 9:5-6)

    In the Passover meal, traditionally four cups of wine were taken as part of the Seder ceremony. At the Last Supper Passover meal, Jesus drank from the first and second cups, but when he reached the moment to drink the third cup of wine (called the cup of redemption), He declined. Instead, He passed this cup to the disciples as Luke records, and told them to drink of His “blood,” which would be poured out to redeem men from their sins.
    At that moment, Jesus symbolically associated the wine of the third cup with His spilled blood on the cross. Since Jesus Himself had no sin of His own, He declined to drink from that third cup at the meal because He had no need to redeem Himself. Instead, only the disciples drank the third cup because Jesus' blood was spilled to redeem them (and us).
    Following the third cup, Jesus stated He will not drink wine again until He reaches the Kingdom. Jesus wasn’t pledging to never consumer wine in any form since we see He consumed a tiny portion on the cross. Such a pledge would have served no spiritual purpose. Instead, Jesus was speaking specifically about refraining from drinking the fourth cup of wine served during the Passover meal.
    Jesus did not drink the fourth cup at the Passover table (neither did the disciples). Instead, that meal was suspended at the point of drinking the third cup. The fourth cup will not be consumed until the inauguration of the Kingdom. Notice what Jesus spoke as that meal began:

    Great talk!
    But interrupted 12+ adverts for "islamic charities" that of course, only help muslims, and have no
    oversight. (unlike Catholic Charities like Caritas which help al, and do get periodic scrutiny)
    I know it's the catholic breadth of my viewing habits that triggered these advertiser's bidding for this spot, but the sheer number of ads was counterproductive.

      @@karens3805 Yes you would. The order of the Mass is like the NO--entrance, Kyrie, Gloria, gospel, Creed, etc. They'll have a Mass Book with all the prayers in both English and Latin. Just follow others to stand, kneel etc. Go to a sung Mass if possible. It is so beautiful and reverant. No one telling you what to do. No hand-holding, lay readers, hand shaking . There is time to pray with the priest in your mind. No chatter before or after Mass. Holy Communion kneeling with no lay "ministers". God bless you.

    • @mottledbrain
      @mottledbrain 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Karen, you don't NEED to understand what the priest is saying. He is talking to God, not the people.
      Our job is to actively participate INTIORLY.

    • @katiedid8192
      @katiedid8192 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both Masses are beautiful-Christ is truly present at both Masses. I prefer the reverent NO which is focused on including the “ Church” parishioners in the prayer participation and it is easily understandable. Some NO include Latin prayers as well. Some NO Masses continue with more reverent hymns -- try to find one. Our parish uses more reverent during Mass with the more modern hymns reserved for entrance and recessional hymns. Yes, try to find a TLM with music as it will help you to follow the Mass.

    Great exposition of scripture! I loved it and believe that Christ became our passover. His statement about catholics not believing Christ is crucified again is not accurate however and also, an understanding of what this man is presenting does not equal having to subject oneself to the religious bondage of catholic belief. Checkout Acts 2:41-47.

    • @TheMenghi1
      @TheMenghi1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Micah, it's ironic that you talk about "religious bondage." From your comments I can tell that you are a Sola Scriptura adherent, yet I would challenge you to study about the early Church, in particular, how that Church gave us the canon of Scriptures. No Catholic Church, the Bible today would be vastly different from you one in your hand.

    • @Gpacharlie
      @Gpacharlie 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@TheMenghi1So then it seems that catholics are not bonded to scripture alone but have scripture and tradition. We don’t rely on faith alone but both faith and reason. I am finding catholicism has a rich fullness, layers of insight, and is a very reasonable faith. Living it takes effort (works) because in my fallen nature I am a lazy sinner.

      The Bible in 1 Tim 3:15 says the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. You are not the Church. Scott Hahn said nothing that is contrary to what THE CHURCH teaches.

      so you know more about Catholic theology than a Catholic theologian who used to be a Presbyterian pastor? Humble, bud.
