Point 2 is very interesting. I work for a audit firm and there has always been a big thing around measuring stock for construction type work (at least it is here in the UK). I can see businesses getting photogrammetry pilots to come and measure piles of stock (sands/metals/dirt/salts) regularly rather than just visual guesswork.
I’m from UK and just acquired the kit to do this, my background is media however so no idea how to get in to the construction world to start picking up contracts but really want to put my piloting skills to uses other than video
Once again, you always knock it out of the park! very useful information. I'm intrigued and am very curious about the virtual imaging sales. There are so many untapped ideas for drone applications, thank you for sharing with us.
I really appreciate the comment! I am trying to give pilots some new ideas as some parts of the industry are so outdone now, it's time to shine some light on the new interesting things that are going on!
I know the tower you show at thn beginning! :-) Grain Tower at the mouth of the River Thames. Been out there lots of times and climbed onto it. It goes back to the Napoleonic wars, and the ugly/modern bits were added in WW1 and WW2. It's great seeing it scanned and used in a game! How cool is that!
Thanks for all the info really appreciate it! I'm done with my (secure &boring ) job and want to travel capture videos and now seeing i can make a side hustle/business out of it makes it more enjoyable. Thanks again👌🏼💯
Hey man. I’ve watched all of your videos about the business side of things. Something that would be helpful for you to mention is examples of clients that you work with, and how someone just starting out can find them. Thanks
How do you go about marketing yourself the work and material and data to potential employers though. I have a few thoughts but looking to expand and experiment
@@DylanGorman ok ya that’s currently what I been trying out amongst a few other things. Interested in supporting you through buying the classes to also help expand my knowledge providing they won’t be super expensive. I currently work for a company doing wind turbine blade inspections with drones but would like to bring more business to the table. I know we have done this stuff before but we lost site of it after the guy in charge of it left so I am going to try and pick it back up.
I live in a state that is cold 3-5 months out of the year, with around 3 of those months being in the 10 degrees or less zone. Do you believe that between 7-9 months a year of time is adequate to allow one person to make a living off of Photogrammetry and Commercial Real Estate shooting?
Dylan, as always another great & informative video. I would 100% be interested in joining your master course. I just had one quick question about the Mavic 3cine. I initially thought I could use this drone for 3D mapping but recently saw online that it is not made for that. Apparently it wouldn’t be able to work with DroneDeploy. Do you have any advice on this? Should I just get the Inspire 2? I intend on starting this business soon as I have many clients in my industry (Engineering/Construction) that could really utilize these services.
I too have the Mavic 3 Cine (only got it for my cinematography work), since there is not an SDK out for the drone just yet, its not supported by any 3rd party software. Inspire 2 is a great drone! and so is the Phantom 4 Pro v2. I am actually selling a few of our fleet I2 if you would be interested. It's a full kit with a hard case, 6 sets of batteries, controller and gimbal + lens!
@@DylanGorman I am 100% interesting in looking at what you are selling. Please feel free to message me, or let me know how/where to contact you. I also would like to sign up for your master course you said you were working on. Please let me know. I am a serious buyer. Respectfully, Jeremy A.
Quick google search on “construction companies in (your town, city or state)”, look for contacts on their website. I’d look for the smaller ones that maybe have never tried a drone service like the 3d model one? It’s trial and error, there really is not one proven method to get a client
@@DylanGorman Any specific construction companies I should look for? I’ve tried general contractors but should I look for more general construction companies?

hey Dylan , been watching your videos a lot and I wanted to ask , can I do drone photogrammetry with any type of drone or it has to done with the type high quality ones like the one you have behind you?
Nope, most drones are able to produce photogrammetry models, it just depends on if you want to manually or fly it or use a software that supports the drone you fly to have automated flight for better model creation.
Wouldn’t photogrammetry of something like Disneyland (assuming you could get flight authorization) be considered an ART creation of the person doing the photogrammetry and, since it is a new creation, be copyright to the producer of the photogrammetry even if it contains images of some copyright article captured? Think YOUR photo of a famous painting or other art installation. Your photo is copyright to you while the physical article is copyright or trademark of the owner of that article or trademark.
Depends on the data sets that we are capturing. $215 is using a DSLR, if you are using a LiDAR or a multi camera set up that jumps up to $500-$4000 an hour not including data processing

Glad that what I’m saying is not all bs haha. Honestly there’s so many use cases for drones I couldn’t name all of them in one video!

Thanks a lot for these videos. They are really helpful ✨

Another amazing video with helpful information, thanks for sharing my friend :)
Great content. One recommendation is when editing your video use different zoom levels. It save the need for 2 cameras for jumpcuts.
These are some great insights. Tha k you! Being that it is now 2022, what drone/drones would you recommend starting out with for photogrammetry?
What / how much can be done with a mini 3 Pro?
Dylan what about photogrammetry for farming, loaded trains, or simply chronicled construction videos say for QA or insurance purposes?
Yes to all of those, there are so many applications for photogrammetry!
Great video!!! I'm in Sarasota. Cool to see what your doing!
Thank you I appreciate that!
I have dji mavic pro Gen-1. Can i do photogrammetry using it?
is that the publix in boynton beach?
What do you use to log your flights? I’ve seen some apps out there, they have crappy reviews.

Creating demo data or even offering some services for free for a month or two to get your bearings helps tremendously!

Is there any way to do manual flights with photogrammetry? Mavic 3 doesn't have SDK :/
