    Ah, it's the daily dilemma. Should I go practice or watch one more of Christians videos? Alright, I'll go practice... But thank you for this video. It reminded me of a quote by my favorite author, Terry Pratchett: "If you trust in yourself... and believe in your dreams. . .and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy."

    Hi Christian, This video is just what the doctor ordered, I practice just what you have covered and my boring 5 finger business I do till my fingers are tired, and I know Its important ! I am a 4 year beginner at 79 with Neuropathy in both hands but I have conquered it by consistant practice. I have mastered 6 Boogie left hand patterns already. I hope this gives some other budding Pianist the inspiration they need. You and Dr k are my mentors. Ron Novak AKA Doc Ivory.

    Your best lesson yet. I never thought that creativity was something that could be practiced. That opens a new door for us, your faithful students.

      It opened the same door for me when I learned it a couple of years ago. I got this from Hal Crooks book How To Improvise, the bible for serious students, also in Jazz schools like Berkeley and sorts. Means you can leave the plateau you always imagined for yourself.

    Another great video. I sometimes forget that even the good players had to walk a long way before they learned how to run and that we are all only human after all and practise makes perfect. Keep up the good work my friend, it’s greatly appreciated!!

    Thomas Edison's famous quote: "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration." Transpiration, I believe, only happens in plants. But it's okay. We native English speakers actually find it quite charming the way you sometimes play with our language... second of course only to your playing with the piano. Love from the USA.

    It takes work to be great, to stay great. Unfortunately, I only get to play about 3 hours a day, work certainly cuts into my free time. Plus, I'm an artist - (drawing, painting) which cuts into more "free time".
    it always helps to be reminded that we need to practice, even the basics. Thanks Christian. I hope all is well with you.

    I enjoy your tutorials. They’re full of practical, useful information. I have an idea for you. Perhaps, if you’re so inclined, you could put together a series like the blues jam survival guide for keyboardists. This would be geared towards how to prepare for and how to play in a blues jam. I have not seen any single source anywhere on the internet that comprehensively addresses the pianist/keyboardist playing in a blues jam.

    • @jhn1987
      @jhn1987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christian Fuchs Thanks! Great insight into how a pianist might approach a slow blues jam. I had something a little different in mind. A more comprehensive study in how to approach the majority of Blues styles that one might encounter in a blues jam. Not just slow blues, but Chicago Blues, Texas Blues, minor blues, etc. Also focusing on keys that guitarists are more likely to play in such as E, A, F, G. Anyway, just a thought.
