Actually Christian that comment short-changes you: its deep expertise and rare generosity. Also, I think that the humour, warmth and playfulness in how you teach and talk are really in keeping with the spirit of that New Orleans style of music. That music is, in its full and richest form, inseparable from that spirit, ethos, and way of being in the world. Accordingly, it feels exactly right to be learning this New Orleans style music from your good self.
Love your lessons keep them coming my way…I’m a beginner to intermediate player but just starting blues and jazz styles of playing and need some exercises for familiar patterns and coordination of left hand and licks for right👍🎹
CHRISTIAN! Enjoyed this video SO much. DRONE LICK! If you're 50 years of Chicago Blues, a little arthritis is sliding down between my blues critical right FU & Ring finger combo give combo again of pain every time
Today's session was a bit advanced for me, but inspiring nonetheless. Your metaphones were quite helpful, both for visualization and for helping me to remember that piano-playing can continue to be a lot of fun if I remember to relax and experiment. Thanks for another great (and funny) video!
Thx Christian! You the best! More like the beginner videos where you explained which fingers on left hand goes with what fingers on right hand. Look forward to your next video. Everyone stay home and stay safe!
You’re right, you know me. I’ve been working on the “money lick” for a longtime, since your New Orleans lessons. Have it down pretty well. From there I was able to run up and down and be able to put together phrases. These examples help pull it all together. Thanks, I appreciate it.
Thanks Christian its fun learning stuff from you. I am unemployed, but I would like to make a small donation to your cause anyway. How can this be done? If viewers donated even only a couple of Euros, I am sure they could add up quite nicely to help finance your channel and encourage you to continue bringing us great tips, like in this tutorial and many others.
Thanks Taurus! There is a paypal link under each video for that. One click and you can donate. Yes, true, but the thought „Why me if there are many others?“ is very strong.
@@ChristianFuchsBlues is there not an alternative method? If I want to send 10 Euros, Paypal charges an extra 5 Euros. I then tried 5 Euros, but Paypal also wanted around 5 Euros. (I think Paypal is charging too much)
Thanks a lot Christian. An excellent lesson. If you ever get the time could you do a lesson on drones with the "MAJOR" pentatonic scale? Floyd Patterson! P.S. How can I best can I make a contribution to thank you for all your sterling work?. By buying a piece of your music every month (even though my piano reading skills are awful)?
Have you donsidered the "Activemelody" system of which I am a member (guitar)? He plays his tune and then shows you how to play one part of the tune and if you want the second part you have to subscribe to get the second part and the "tabs"
Help please Christian. I have now got to about 21 minutes in the video where you do the lick, where the downbeat keeps shifting. I can play the lick but I don't really understand what you mean by the shifting downbeat! Are the downbeats G, F sharp, F , E flat, and then, once again, G, Fsharp, F, E flat,....? How does this fit in with the left hand?
Hello there, I am very sorry but the free tutorials are all I can give you. Individual questions to specific videos come in all the time with 350 videos out there. It would mean a lot of extra hours on top. So one to one advice will have to stay the privilege for one to one lessons. Thank you for your understanding! Christian
I think he means that there are two strikes on the right hand for every one on the left hand so as the riff keeps repeating itself it goes out of sequence with the left hand pattern. This is what he means, I think. I might be wrong though. I usually am.
Thank you for this. I have a dear friend who (like me) is a good guitarist but a terrible piano player. But the one thing he did learn to do well are these licks. Used like a "party trick" everyone is left believing he is an excellent player. Kind of makes me jealous...so I will learn this finally!
Sometimes wish we could leave 2 likes!
You could open several accounts...;-)
Christian, you are a font of expertise, generosity, humour and warmth. Thank you.
Thanks TB!:-)

Christian, I am now a follower brother. Ich Liebe Deutschland und You are a great teacher Sir! I love blues and boogie.
As I always say: Deutschland, birthplace of the blues!
This lesson is making me hungry! >:(
Christian, would you please do a lesson on how to line up the left hand with the right hand? Thanks! Great Lessons!
I deal with that all the time in my tutorials when I refer to the „anchors“ for example, do the loud counting etc. Thats just what you need..
Thx Christian! You the best! More like the beginner videos where you explained which fingers on left hand goes with what fingers on right hand. Look forward to your next video. Everyone stay home and stay safe!
You deserve way more subs.
Starting a channel in a segment takes way more time to grow than 10 y ago. But the will come...
Just found this one Christian. Laughed so much at your introduction, i had to go and change my 'recent' surgical pad!
Peace.

Remember, where ever you go, never take an idiot with you. You can always get one when you get there.
A wise word!:-))
"1 and 2... ah a Freudian slip" lol

I have just tried again. On the left hand you have thump 1, thump 2, thump3, thump4, so the downbeat falls on every thump 1, is that right?

Mmmm, tasty, mighty fine secret sauce, some pickles tossed in, and served nice and hot. :D
I didn't mention pickles. Never think you can top your teacher!
