Thanks mate yeah i like to release bream since they take so long to grow i release most of my fish only keep what i need for a feed when i do keep a fish cheers 👍
Hey sticky I gave this technique a go for the first time the other night at the local bream hole I don't think I will ever go back. Hooked up nearly every time after letting them run with it
Hey mate, I tried this technique out and I had massive success! Had no idea what half hitches were but it all made sense once I understood! Didn't realise I was fishing wrong for ages! You're a legend, thank you!
Luke McDonnell thanks mate yeah its a good technique works on a lot of species out there too I had a few people say it help them catch more fish good to see it work for others too Good stuff mate glad i could help Cheers 🎣👍
Holds the bait much better and doesn't let it just dangle around. It also helps the bait hold on the hook sturdier when it is moving through the currents Example would be, imagine a fish or bait that is relatively long. you put a hook on one end. Then you would half hitch the other end. If not, what can happen is it would look it is spinning and look un-naturally floating. If it is half hitched, the bait would move better with the currents and look more natural as if there was no hook in the bait.
Sticky, great videos mate. you share rigs and technique which will help anyone wanting to catch more fish. I like your use of simple and inexpensive gear. I use Alveys myself and enjoy seeing good fish caught using them. Keep catching those bream, blackfish, drummer and others.....well done.
I agree, too many videos by sponsored fisherman using very expensive gear they got for free, nice to see someone using the same 'cheap' Shimano Sienna reels I use, not the super expensive ones, great video thanks.
Thanks mate I was using a shimano sienna reel in this video but i think you can change the handles on daiwa reels cause you can buy different colour parts to customise your reel 👍
Yeah i just fish the sinker straight to the hook i find is best less tangles and better cast distance especially if i fish for bream or rock fishing but sometimes i use a trace just depends on what fish iam after thanks 👍
Hey mate I’m a big fan of yours, and are a local. But mate that herring vid you did is that at that bridge or the bridge further down, as I’ve caught some god bream from that spot and would like to try herring instead of prawns
Hey mate I try ur technique I face a problem I can see schools of breams but they just not biting the bait I try many baits ,,, cook prawns raw prawns,, can u tell me why. Thanks
Hey mate sometimes when you can see them they just won't bite But try no sinker just the hook with bait so it floats pass them slow And looks more natural to them All maybe they bite at night there Mate 👍
Thanks mate yeah you can use circle hooks with that bait i prefer normal hooks for bream but i use circle hooks on jewfish, snapper tuna just the bigger fish 👍
@@ilililmcililil6961 yeah just need to try off jettys and around bridges with bait jig if your in nsw but go to your local tackle shop and ask them they mite be able to tell you where to catch them in your area mate cheers 👍
dano11000 depending on your location try a sabhki jig with the small hooks off jetty's around bridge's and sometimes you can catch herring & yellowtail for bait they work real well Maybe ask your local tackle shop if they no we you can catch some they mite be able to help you cheers 👍🎣
This is the exact way I get most of my bream on bait! Good to see I’m not alone!

So whats the purpose of the "half hitch"?
Holds the bait much better and doesn't let it just dangle around. It also helps the bait hold on the hook sturdier when it is moving through the currents
Example would be, imagine a fish or bait that is relatively long. you put a hook on one end. Then you would half hitch the other end.
If not, what can happen is it would look it is spinning and look un-naturally floating.
If it is half hitched, the bait would move better with the currents and look more natural as if there was no hook in the bait.

I caught a 52cm Flattie there and a couple bream great spot along dry dock road
thankyou; Q; why scale the bait? I have not seen that before. is there a reason? thankyou
Hi so I don't get a scale stuck on the point of hook and miss a hook up on a fish and make it easier to put on hook too
@@stickyfishyfishing awesome thankyou

Felix Manero nah not a local mate iam from port stephens i just fish up there when i visit my nan 👍
What are you thoughts on sinker down to hook vs sinker stopped at swivel?
Hey mate I prefer to use a sinker straight to the hook for bream in a river or estuary or no sinker at all just a hook unweighted bait 👍
Thanks, I am learning something every day.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
