As an old punk rocker I have to say that I loved this track when Adam and Marco released it. Adam is on record admitting that the one thing he really didn't enjoy, as he became a worldwide success, was seeing all his punk fans drift away. We'd been with him since the very start. This track and the video was like a tribute to their old punk days, with torn denims, leather motorcycle jackets and great guitars.
@@noestahechalamielparatuboca He ensured his success and financial security for not only him, but those who worked alongside him. Not a sell out in anyway.
As a young punk rocker, i wish i could go back in time to see adam.ants journey evolve ☹️. Music is boring now i want more people to be as determined and as talented (without autotune) as adam.
This sounds so much better than it perhaps seemed in 1985. While I think The Boomtown Rats' performance of I Don't Like Monday's was superb, especially the way Geldof pauses and changes the meaning of the lyrics in effect to reflect the magnitude of the day, it is ironic that they played more than one song yet Adam Ant only got to sing Vive Le Rock. I have heard a remixed and extended mix of the song in recent years and it sounds amazing.
Shame he wasn't selling so well in this period, this is his second best album for me after Dirk. Pure glam rock fun, and delightful daft lyrics. A lot of people's daft lyrics are cringey but Adam's are just joyous.
@@Ackerman_77 In his book, 'Bowie, Bolan & The Brooklyn Boy, Tony Visconti said that this was the best album he'd ever been part of and the most professional band he'd ever worked with!!!!
I feel he really had his finger on the pulse here of 1985. He really gives his all, spoke his truth & clearly tried to make this catchy & a hit. Surprised it wasn’t received better
There was such an explosion of varieties in the 80s it was easy to miss great artists. I was exposed to Adam from my 16 year old babysitter and MTV the real MTV not the impostor that calls itself MTV today.
This album is cruelly underrated!! Vive le Rock, Miss Thing, Scorpio Rising, Apollo 9... His best after "Kings of the Wild Frontier", his unmatchable Masterpiece!
I think he channels Bowie big time. I loved this album. I've spent some time this evening enjoying a flashback of Adam Ant's songs I like best growing up. This album was my fave, and then Friend or Foe.
This is a great song from Adam Ant. It actually has a bit of an ELO/Jeff Lynne influence to it. It takes me back to the days of when I would crank this up on my Sony Walkman. Great times for great 80's music indeed. Love it!!
I had completely forgotten this song for the the last 20 years despite owning it on vinyl.I was out riding a big rocky hill on one of my dirt bikes and then suddenly.....I remembered VIVE LE ROCK
I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who really enjoyed this gem. It doesn’t have the edge of ‘Car Trouble’, but damn, it was always fun to listen to. And Adam is in great rock form throughout the video. Will always love this song.
I❤Adam & the Antz. Vive le Rock! Two other Tapes I scooped up on the way out the trheshold to war. ODS has a dandy soundtrack. though horrific. Literally the Zenith of my First Life. What do ya say Marco? What an enduring and endearing rocknroll combination. I wish I could present the whole Force a honorary campaign medal. 🎉😂❤
A good song. Adam was and still is, a great and original talent. A true innovator. Even before selling his soul to the devil (which is always a bad deal: he was a prime mover of the fledgling New Wave scene . Not only a great singer with a compelling way of performing, but a great songwriter, with such a novel way of looking at chords and melodies.....
Are the Everley Brothers credited anywhere for the guitar riff? Love the track but can't listen to it without hearing (Bryan Ferry and) Everley Brothers' "The Price of Love" bass line....👍
this video is open on a tab my ten-year-old opened it he is familiar with all the animatronics cuz well how I still got all the vinyl from back in the day and we're going to go see Adam in September

Love it. Always did. Adam "playing" Marco's Gretsch.... with straplocks so it didn't fly away and shatter into a thousand pretty pieces during his kung-fu Elvis moves..... rock stars like these exist no more. Glad I'm an old fart and was allowed to be a teenager when this happened. (Adam is nearly 70 now, and Marco 66... wish they'd kiss n make up, as it were, and make one more great record together.)
If I’m not mistaken, Marco bought that Gretsch from Brian Setzer (I know the one on the cover of the album is, as Marco mentioned it recently in a guitar magazine) - gotta be the same one. Long live Adam! He crushed this song when I saw him live this year.
I heard that too... I also heard (but I may be mistaken) that for some reason Marco's Dad sold or broke or got rid of the guitar.... which was clearly an appalling thing.... I think I heard it in an audio interview years ago and Marco saying something along the lines of "Yeah, but you don't do that with a Gretsch!" Who knows? Rock n Roll myths and stories and stars. Love the mythology... love the proud Ant Men!
I didn't really care for the title track but love the rest of the album. I saw Adam in London in '85 when he toured to promote this album...I was pleased that he played a lot tracks from his Dirk Wears White Sox days.

I have to admit that I am normally an old Soul Rebel, but I have ALWAYS liked Adam Ant, and a few odd Rock artists and Glam Rock artists.

This is such a fun, upbeat song. The whole album is fantastic!
Always remember the smash hits review..Pure bubble gum pop 97/8 out of ten they scored it

It needs to be in a porno movie or a nature documentary. I’d LOVE if it was in a math documentary!
