Man! Adam Ant had the same level of the greatest musicians and singers of the music history. Like Elvis, Jim Morrison, Michel Jackson. He is A genius! Nobody broke the musical standard in the industry and innovated as much as this man, it's almost unbelievable how he didn't get stuck in the underground scene and became one of the biggest pop culture idols in the late 70's and become a big star from the 80's in Europe and the United States . It would be asking too much for the general public to understand what Adam Ant's music is. I am happy to announce that I have discovered this musician, and I am happy that he still has a loyal following today. I'm 33 years old.
Adam definately the same 'uniqueness' that Elvis also had, I'm a big Elvis fan. I liked Adam and the Ants when I was growing up, showing my age now, not listened them for a while but their music still sounds fresh and brings back so many memories. Adam was definately a great performer and great looking too.
Believe it or not, AdamAnt literally inspired me as a young black kid in da hood. He was an eccentric artist to me. I was the ONLY fan in my home and amongst peers. My brothers thought I was weird because I was a huge fan. Lol The drums drums drums. Driving beats, native American undertones, African rhythms, high energy, costumes, war paint make up and overall theatrics captivated me!!! I LOVED Adam and the ANTS AND I WAS ridiculed for it...HOWEVER... "Ridicule is Nothing to be scared of"!😉 -Prince Charming (Adam Ant)
Well said sir , as an 11 yr old clueless white kid from Kent I knew nothing of all the influences you mention but I knew something special was going on here
As an English 19th c. lit major in college in the late 70s/80s, this man was IT! Celtic Drums, theatre, Byronic hero, noble savage, everything I was reading made very modern and real. I always admired him for that, and still do. There was a lot of great music then, but I think this was my absolute favorite song!
Yes, you describe it well. My major first crush that's for sure. As a middle aged lady I queued in Waterstones for his signed biography when it came out. Great fun with people dressed up and I felt oddly emotional when I met him ! Started babbling about what they'd meant to me. Oh dear. He drew a heart in my copy of the book. Swoon😂
When you say "noble savage," are you referring to his heritage? I wonder, because I'd read somewhere that he was actually only honoring"native" people (not sure what they'd be called in Europe, if they are even a part of European history.) I had read that he sought permission to emulate their war paint, and they happily approved...as they also did with every single American mascot request ever made.
I love this band they were the greatest..very original no one else was like them and the very mention of bow wow wow is a joke!!! Adam solo work is/was just as great infact more varied...God Bless you Stuart!!!! From a true diehard.

Adam Ant will forever be my hero and favorite musician. I've been an "Antperson", so to speak, since the late 70s. I was lucky enough to see him three times in concert when he came to Texas in the 80s. I can only hope he'll come back some day so I can see him perform live again. He puts on a show like no other. Pure musical genius!

It’s both and he’s brilliant. No one can pull off lipgloss like him in Stand and Deliver... I’m glad he had a good friend in Marco all those years. He is a gorgeous man with a good heart!

DAD HERE I lived in the '70s and early '80 and I can confirm the life certainly wasn't 'rad' and although the music reflected it, the mainstream didn't
Vitreous Lamella I'm an old man myself (42), and I absolutely love Adam & the Ants. That percussion section he had is nothing short of hypnotic. Go Eighties...
Vitreous Lamella Adam and the Ants were from the tail end of the 70s...their biggest hits came in 80 and 81 but, in truth, they did not really reflect the 80s at all
Forty years on, and it sounds still great. This is a pop classic. Adam had it all, great looks a memorable image, and a fantastic band. I haven't heard it in many years, but it has stood the time. Pop Music B.C (Before Cowell). I wish Adam well.
Someone once said that the most boring thing a music video can be is just watching the band perform. 99.9% of this time this is true. But just watching THESE guys perform is so so so much more interesting than their staged videos like Prince Charming and Stand and Deliver.
Adam aka Stuart Godard was too good looking to be recorgnised for the musical genius of which he was a part - him and Marco. He was devastatingly gorgeous.
I feel the same about the passing of time since this song was released, Eric - only seems like the other day... I was seventeen in nineteen eighty when Adam and the Ants became very successful in the pop charts for an all too brief period of glory, but songs like this stay in my memory forever, as pure nostalgia for youth.
Experimental, brave, he was a musican genious....I know the beatles, I know The rolling Stones, but I listen to Adam Ant, OMD, Depeche Mode and Co. from the 80s
Literally every time I hear this song I can’t help but move to it !! So addictive Adam you are a true legend !!! 💜🐜🇬🇧💙☠️🥰🔥💯 music just isn’t like this anymore sadly
I’ve waited over 40 years to see Adam Ant perform this song live and I finally got my chance in Southampton last weekend. It was worth the wait! The man deserves much more recognition than he gets!
I was way too young to see him back in the 80’s, lol. I saw him in late 2019, when he did the entire Friend or Foe album, and a once few years before that. Loved it. This was always one of my favs.
I bought four albums: Kings, Queen the Game, Styx Paradise Theater and Hello It’s Devo... all still good, but I have to admit Styx was for the art and effect on side 2... Still loving LPs!! And a a bigger picture of Adam!!
This guy started my love of music. From him I explored my parents records.Plus I now always have a thing about a good track with serious drums and/or the bass guitar. Never fallen out of love of any of them. Adam lives always in my heart as the person who kindled my music addition.
My parents have had me listening to this since I was a baby! Adam and the Ants were just in my hometown last night and did a concert. I so wish I could've gone. My parents went and said it was spectacular! My mom said Adam is still hot! ;)
AlexJadeyy21 I took my two daughters to see the Kings of the Wild Frontier tour here in NZ in 2017. We were front row too and Adam Ant blew everyone away.
I remember in 1981,cycling three miles to a neighbouring village to buy an Adam poster ,the same week bought kings of the wild frontier on cassette and a sew on arm patch , 😂
He was pure theatre, and he did it well, I remember when he first came on the music scene, you couldn’t go in to a pub “going back when we had real DJs” without hearing the likes of Adam and his Antz, plus some real good sounds from that era..
Terry Lee mial and merrick got me into drumming I’m 53 and brought this album and played it over 100 times now I’m a semi professional drummer thanks to this great band Saw Adam ant in Cambridge and bedford brilliant ❤
So did Michael Jackson. I heard Adam in an interview saying that Michael called him at 3am during a tour to ask where he got it. Adam thought it was guitarist and noted prankster Gary Tibbs messing with him. But no, it really was Michael who ended up wearing similar jackets throughout the 80s.

Pure heaven to listen too, the man is still a living legend in my opinion.
What a cool song--such tribal drumming too! Love it! Eighties music was/is so rad.
That is a great name what country are you from
DAD HERE I lived in the '70s and early '80 and I can confirm the life certainly wasn't 'rad' and although the music reflected it, the mainstream didn't
Vitreous Lamella I'm an old man myself (42), and I absolutely love Adam & the Ants. That percussion section he had is nothing short of hypnotic. Go Eighties...
Vitreous Lamella Adam and the Ants were from the tail end of the 70s...their biggest hits came in 80 and 81 but, in truth, they did not really reflect the 80s at all
hugodrax71 I agree. They were kind of stand alone back then.
Remember getting thrown out of an english lesson for painting a white line across my face with tipex. 1st year comp 1979
Awesome. That really did make me laugh out loud. Thanks
Me and a mate got our backsides smacked for painting each others faces in art in 1982
Lol I had the ant logo on my haversack 👍👍🤘🤘
Adam and the Ants were MASSIVE in the very early 80s - such a distinctive sound and a bit of dramatic flair. Awesome. I loved em.
Forty years on, and it sounds still great.
This is a pop classic. Adam had it all, great looks a memorable image,
and a fantastic band. I haven't heard it in many years, but it has stood
the time. Pop Music B.C (Before Cowell).
I wish Adam well.
Shame he went Nutty in his late 50's though
wish i could turn the clock back 30 years, i would enjoy the 80 twice as much as i did and do now, just fab stuff
+the faceman It's taken me 25 years to realize how great British pop music was in the first half of the 80's.
enjoy it now, its great music
I lived it and nothing compares
Someone once said that the most boring thing a music video can be is just watching the band perform. 99.9% of this time this is true. But just watching THESE guys perform is so so so much more interesting than their staged videos like Prince Charming and Stand and Deliver.
the original pirate.... before johnny depp
He gets recognised but not as much as he should be
My youth, life seemed so simple back then , great tune and great times
Fucking fantastic
Always loved the double drums. Adam is the man.
DEFINITELY ADAM ANT 🐜 IS THE MAN 👨 👌 🙌 👏 😍 💪 👨 👌 🙌 👏 😍 💪!❤☺
This song was amazing in concert. Two drummers up high. Thundering. Miss it greatly.
Adam aka Stuart Godard was too good looking to be recorgnised for the musical genius of which he was a part - him and Marco. He was devastatingly gorgeous.
He is super handsome
saw him tonight in Liverpool,he was outstanding! he's still got it!
36 years since this masterpiece was released....Don't seem like two minutes to me!!!
I feel the same about the passing of time since this song was released, Eric - only seems like the other day... I was seventeen in nineteen eighty when Adam and the Ants became very successful in the pop charts for an all too brief period of glory, but songs like this stay in my memory forever, as pure nostalgia for youth.
Kieran O'Driscoll Very well said. I was 15 back then; great, great times and I still love listening to stuff from this era!
Eric thank you very much for your comments. We are of the same generation it seems.
Kieran O'Driscoll Indeed, your taste is very good mate.
We both have good taste.
They need someone like Adam to kick music in the ass nowadays
it just never gets old...so love them drums
Just saw him in concert Fri night. Tore the house down. Definitely go see the show, if you can. ❤️
I always dreamed of marrying Adam Ant. I'm 53 now and it never happened. He was the ultimate teenage girl fantasy.
Never Say Die!
I love it since 1980. It is actually influenced by the rhythm of Native Americans. Great Job.
And the burundi beats !!!
I’ve waited over 40 years to see Adam Ant perform this song live and I finally got my chance in Southampton last weekend.
It was worth the wait!
The man deserves much more recognition than he gets!
Sounds fucken awesome
I was way too young to see him back in the 80’s, lol. I saw him in late 2019, when he did the entire Friend or Foe album, and a once few years before that. Loved it. This was always one of my favs.
first album i ever bought...and i still listen to it. awesome. thank you aata.
Me too! I loved Jolly Roger!
First album for me too! Think my family still have pics of me with the white stripe painted across my face!
Me too, the anthem of my teenage years
Second album ever. First was Eddy Grant “Romancing the Stone”
Just love the drumming in this - brilliant!
It's Burundi drumming.
My parents have had me listening to this since I was a baby! Adam and the Ants were just in my hometown last night and did a concert. I so wish I could've gone. My parents went and said it was spectacular! My mom said Adam is still hot! ;)
He gets recognised but not as much as he should be
Friend or Foe is amazing
YOUR COMMENT IS TRULY AWESOME
No contemporary boyband is fit to tie the shoe laces of these magnificent five beautiful guys ... neither musically nor visually ❤
They were a band made up of blokes. Not a boyband. It just so happened that the lead singer was a beautiful beautiful creature.
I didn't call them a boy band. I was only making a comparison.@@daniellemaines4874
God, that Barundi beat was so freaking killer. Loved these guys. Brings back great memories..
Adam Ant is a creative genius.
Amen 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 TO That One!
Saw Adam Ant Live at Manchester Ritz on 1st April 2014 and he sang this it sounded awesome. I was front row aha about 30inc away from touching his arm
AlexJadeyy21 I took my two daughters to see the Kings of the Wild Frontier tour here in NZ in 2017. We were front row too and Adam Ant blew everyone away.
Still my all time favourite. Probably the heaviest guitar tone not on a metal record.
Must be one of the best drum beats of any pop song, it drives the song gives it so much energy , still tap it out often today!
He was “original”nothing like him before existed he selected little bits of what he liked and put them together in a totally amazing way! ❤️
Totally I agree with you!!!
The best Ants track ever!! Those damn sexy drums
Terry Lee mial and merrick got me into drumming I’m 53 and brought this album and played it over 100 times now I’m a semi professional drummer thanks to this great band
Saw Adam ant in Cambridge and bedford brilliant ❤
I love Adam and the ants. They music is beautiful to listen to
I want that badass coat!
Jerica C i just saw one on ebay for about £450 i think it was! More than i could ever get away with paying for one anyway! But stunning!! :)
His original one is,...or was displayed in the victoria and albert museum in london, along with the prince charming one.
@@stevencosgrove5934 Thnx for commenting & allowing me to listen to this gem once again!!!🙂
He stole it from Jimi!! 🎸
absolutely love him !!! and have for 36 years since I was 8
good old days ... 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
