Wonderful review! I actually just picked one of these up from a small hobby shop the other day. Mine is #74. I'm fairly new to the model railroading scene, my first HO trainset being a Bachmann Yard Master 0-6-0 set. The particular GE GETL I bought had actually been sitting in the display case for a good number of years, but as of testing it yesterday, it runs beautifully. The flywheel inside it is top notch, and its also fairly quiet. And though you said it doesn't have sound, I noticed that mine actually sounds its horn as it rolls along. I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that, though.
One of the best made engines out there other than the brass and winds that come out of Korea there they're fantastic especially for that gauge anything Atherton
