The satire on gentrification is spot-on. I like The Rehearsal approach to this absurdly dark psychological horror/thriller/comedy/drama niche that Nathan has carved out for himself. I might try this show again, but it didn't quite hit the same. Yes although the US only produces like 1% of global fossil fuels as China and India use oceans as toxic waste dumps and cemeteries, Topher’s new environmentally friendly home will make a huge impact. It will certainly do more than simply virtue signal his selflessness and help clear his conscience after his original sin of being born white.
In all seriousness.. I sell solar systems in California and these people really do exist. The part that Nathan nailed is although they say it’s about the environment, what they really care about is money. They lie to themselves and truly believe they’re doing this stuff out of pure altruism. The smugness in which they speak about it is infuriating.
