Ohhh very good to see a person playing my favorite nation. although I have a couple of points that perhaps I think are missing: One thing that many people don't do with size changes is the best way to fill a square is with 2 deep ones (size 3) and a shambler (size 4) which gives you 7 attacks per square. Livigin Pillars are a very strong unit, the only thing is that you don't have to think of them as units, but rather as mini thugs, so you have to think about how they can kill the most troops, in my tests Fear with a little poison resistance works wonders. A very important thing I'm missing from your analysis is that ALL your troops have abysmal magic resistance, which is reduced even more in your dominion when you have magic scales. I understand the reasoning that you need to improve your research, but mage of te deep are very efficient mages in terms of research per turn, although they are very bad in terms of research per gold maintenance. A very important thing about EA Atlantis is its poor magical diversity, because they are very good at using elemental spells, but by not having any sorcery path their mid to late game declines substantially, so it seems very important to me to consider a god that allows you to open plays, at least I think Astral is mandatory to be able to access mainly antimagic and then you can vary between Nature or Death depending on what you like, although thinking about it this way an imprisioned god is going to wake up too late to do anything important. One last thing, I am not a follower of luck as a good scale more in a nation without heroes and who usually wants to use order to have more gold and recruitment points Sorry if it's too much or not understood, I'm a bit intense when it comes to EA Atlantis and my English is pretty bad.
I think those are all good points all around! I find Living Pillars a bit of a trap due to the high bless investment and resource cost, but that doesn't mean they are not useable. In the stream we actually ended up with Magic 4(!) and that was a bit worrisome. If you have time, check out the stream and let me know what you think of my Atlantis play. I felt like it was a pretty good run and had a nice tense ending!
27:00 Actually any priest can preach up to twice his priest level in any province, plus one if there's a temple present. So an H3 could take a province with a temple to 7 candles. Really only important if you've sacrificed your scales (in particular your Dominion score) for some reason. Some Asphodel builds use this mechanic, sacrificing their recruitable sacreds for the freespawn and freespawn sacreds. Keep your dom score low to regulate popkill overall, but preach high dom in the few provinces where you have temples. Edit: An E1S1 random (1 in 12) will allow you to make Master and Slave matrices, allowing you to get your combat mages to levels only limited by your supply of crafters and gems.
Lol were builder's now? Well you deserve calling us a nickname! Great job with the channel, even though i can only catch a little bit live, the streams are 10/10 to watch over the week while i wait for the next big VOD.
In the lovecraft mythos the atlanteans are actually the ones who defeat R'lyeh, so they're part of it. And I guess that's why they're so well equipped to fight them in the game.
Love the video, I wonder does experience give you reinvigoration or reduce encumbrance? Because if that's the case heroism could be a cheap semi solution
You know, I swear there was a -1 encumbrance bonus somewhere in unit level, but searching through the manual, I cannot find any reference to it. If that isn't a fever dream, it still would leave you with very high fatigue and a 9 protection head. ymmv
I have 273 xp on my prophet in a game right now. Inside the Encumbrance window there is a "Experience bonus: -1" listed. It's also mentioned on the Dom 5 wiki's Experience page.
I really enjoy making those, but realize they make bad thumbnails, so I compromised and kept the meme for the intro and the stream. I still laugh at the Agartha one every time I see it on the live page. :P
Pelagian Triton Pearl King: "Oh, you're approaching me?" I love the underwater nations. I understand why they're annoying and I wish there was something in vanilla that made it easier for both sides to enjoy fighting.
"But I can't stab you with this basalt spear unless I come closer." I do think that the underground is kind of a mechanical middle ground between land - UG - underwater.
Instead of weightless, why not spend 6 blees points in reinvigoration? That way they should only take around 6 or 5 fatigue per round, which is not as good as weightless going to 4, but it also helps the casters. A Reinvigoration x3 bless means your casters can spam 2 elemental summons before they collapse, or spam buffing spells for 5 rounds straight without trouble. Yeah, earthpower does that for them already, but more reinvigoration can never hurt.
I find my greatest problem when playing EA Atlantis... is that even when my game goes to the point of casting Maelstrom, I still feel like I'm getting too few water gems!
@@BabelBuilder Any thoughts on what spells that offer MR you would be looking at for those Rune Smashers? I saw Curse of Stones, but I am sometimes overwhelmed with options and fail to find what I'm looking for haha
Living pillars with hardskin have been doing well for me in more casual game. Lets the helmet slot to be as bad. I also got a few points of defenses skills. What ive been doing is 2 reef warriors and 1 living pillar and like i said might not be good in a high skill lobby but my casual ones been hard to deal with. @@BabelBuilder oh they are definitely going to sleepy times fast. But it's why I'm keeping the normal size guys with them so they have a chance to wake up or they take a hit with 23 24 prot and ignore most of the damage

If you are using the random map generator, sometimes the visual can be a bit off. To the game, the only thing that matters is the flag icon and the dotted lines. We had a weird spot on the Arco stream map, that visually didn't make sense.
@@BabelBuilder If you want to be really disgusting, find a way to add regeneration as well, on that 128HP chassis. Admittedly the most likely source of that would be like... 10% randoms on Ichtyid Shamans, I think. Otherwise finding land mages and getting them under da sea
Ugh I will watch the stream because you are a good presenter but I will be complaining to myself the whole time - because I hate most underwater nations. Wish in dom 6 Illwinter made them like LA Atlantis where they have more coastal recruits, especially mages
One nation I think that would be cool to check out would be cool to eventually do, even if it's another UW nation, would be MA R'lyeh. Although I have a softspot for its EA version, I basically never personally play it because there's just _too many god damned polypspawn_. so many And regarding the MA one, I uh... don't play MA. Or LA for that matter. idk, just never kinda landed for me, those two ages.
The abominable mispronunciations of R'lyeh on youttube are appropriately maddening. No one expects you to get the ' sound correct but getting the L y e and h in the correct order doesn't seem so impossible
Much cleaner, well constructed video, your best pre-game so far
Thank you for the feedback. I'm working on better structure for the coverage. 1% better every time in the goal!
