It is not very mind boggling if you look at the fact that the gt-r has 4wd. If all the cars in this race had 4wd, the gt-r would be the slowest of them all.

That was actually a surprisingly interesting drag race. As ballistic as we know the GT-R is, I didn't expect it to maintain its advantage over the Speciale right to the end... twice! Quite close with the shiny new McLaren as well. Not bad for an ~8 year old design ;-) [albeit a steadily updated one]
This is one of those comparisons that I love every car. My two favorite car manufacturers are Nissan and Mclaren but that Speciale is impressive.
no comparison here, the 650S with someone who knows what they are doing will beat these easily.... we got 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds on the street and 2.6 seconds at the dragstrip....

Obviously the datsun won the first race with a shit start from the Mclaren. It didn't "heavily fuck up" anything. Even the entry model mclaren 570s smokes the GTR. People saying that the tech is 10 year old doesn't make up for it' losses. It's the slower car. For whatever reason.

Glad you redid that, didn't seem right that the McLaren was slower than the 458. It's also a perfect example of McLaren's amazing traction computers learning the surface

The Datsun is the one I'd still go for, even if I had 458 money. I want a car I drive, not park in a garage to keep miles down because of resale value and just in case it breaks, which is likely because it's a Ferrari. You can also tune the Datsun to have enough power to destroy every Ferrari ever made.

A CAR for the least intelligent, most unskilled and smallest penis car guy known to man. Nothing says all those things like going up and down the streets of rich cities at 20mph, with a body kit and hitting the limiter until you flame. That's why you never see an Aventador on track.

+trustgtr33 Actually that's about a 3 year old datsun, this model is faster than the first gen GTR from 10 years ago. A 65-70 hp increase from before.

The first gen of the gtr is called the DCA which is 2007 to 2010 while newer ones are the DBA including the 2017 which means there are 2 gens of the gtr r35
CBA and DBA, essentially the same car with minor enhancements, CBA had water cooled throttle bodies just like the race cars but deleted in the dba..the spec v and the nismo has a bigger turbo chargers same as the gt3 cars..

Great vid. If the race had been longer, the 650s would have been a dot. Those Maccas hit 200mph in no time at all given a little more space to open their lungs.

Andreas Lie Did you see the top gear episode where they drove a 458 at top speed on a runway. The panels on the underneath of the car were eaten away. There's a difference from runway gravel to road gravel. The runways are much harsher as they have planes landing on them and therefore have to have much higher tolerances.
Right, but why are you comparing Top Gear with this drag race? They only did small stretches of the runway anyway, so the cars were fine

If you guys do a drag race with an AWD car, you should also do a rolling start race as well. I can't stand when these auto magazines, do drag races between AWD and RWD cars.
I'd rather them just extend the race to at least a half mile.
+Nebo600 because the GT-R is heavy af.. in a rolling/longer distance drag, the advantage lies in a car's power-to-weight ratio.
How about doing that again with a tuned GTR that has the purchase cost difference spent on after market enhancements and see what the results are then?

Alconbury, Cambridgeshire. It was formally part of the RAF airbase but now it's a large industrial estate. Anyone can access the runway if you are visiting any business on the site.

Can someone please explain to me how in the australian outback episode of Top Gear, did the Nissan GTR lose so badly?? Was it really just captain slows fault?
+Bernard first off its not the nismo so its down about 54 or 55 horsepower and the car is a lot heavier and i believe the m6 and bentley both have higher top end speed but like i said James had the slower version of the gtr not the nismo so idk thats what I think at least

This teaches you outcomes can change a lot on the street like surfaces. I thought the 458 would have done better, but maybe that surface isn't the best for rwd. The was quite the difference between the rwd cars in race one vs race 2. AWD OP! Lol.
Speciale; EVO Car of the year, Autocar Car of the Year, Performance Engine of the year, for two years and judged by journalists. Though not the fastest in a straight line, look up Chris Harris Car of the Year 2014 at Portimao, with particular reference to the track times.

Speciale is a track car and would monster the GT-R round any track, (we have had ours on the track), and it was clearly catching the GT-R in this video. WE like the McLaren 650S, since we own a 675LT, see ss8000cars, and the 650S is significantly faster in a straight line than the Speciale. All that said we have always been a fan of the GT-R which has phenomenal performance for your bucks!
SS8000cars Yea specials is a beautiful car and I am sure it will beat GT-R around the track but here it lost to a GT-R

It’s AWD vs RWD so of course on a shitty runway surface it’ll launch far better. In the real world and on a decent road the speciale and McLaren destroy it, you could see how quickly they were catching up.

Conrad Sealy you realise the other cars have never officially set a time? in every legit track test where it’s same driver the Ferrari wins. All the Nurburgring times are nothing more than BS. There’s nobody to prove the cars are stock. The time in the Ferrari is set by a journalist in traffic in a factory car, vs a race car driver in a tuned car after thousands of hrs of practice.
Like I said in any fair test the Ferrari wins..

...and for a relatively small amount of money you can up the GT-R can power and torque fairly significantly (without any radical modifications). If it can beat the 650S (when the driver makes a small error) and then still keep in touch when the 650 get's it right, you just wonder what a GT-R with a few common mods will do. You really can't touch your 458 Speciale and i'm not sure if modded 650 S are common place either (would probably crazy expensive if it was), but GTR's with upgraded engine mapping & exhausts ARE commonplace. I knew the GT-R was great, but even in standard form against this company, it really surprised me.

650S is in another dimension to anything else. It would probably be quicker than the Speciale around a track yet it rides better on the road than an A6. That's the difference.

Berra na engines don't have intercoolers that place heat back into the air stream the engines exhaust runs hotter. Everyone knows this.
The Mclaren has been developed to not have this problem if you did your research on Mclaren developement. GTR's even have kits to fix their heat soak issues.

Mclarens do not heat soak or have any reported issues of the sort they are track focused vehicles. They cost more money and are called *Mclaren* for reason.

Berra yes, n/a cars can also become heat soaked, but a turbo is more affected drastically. When a intercooler becomes heat soaked, it reduced it's efficiency to cool the compressed air. An N/A car only has to deal with ambient intake temperatures, where a turbo car has to deal with the ambient intake temperatures that then becomes compressed by the turbo which makes the air even hotter, hence the need for the intercooler. If the boost air temperatures are too high, the ecu will pull timing, reducing power output, trying to avoid detonation.
