  • Subtitled “Synclavier Regen: 1st Impressions Part 3”.
I have created quite a few Additive/FM sounds on the Synclavier that didn’t make it into the first two songs, like the organ (the third sound I created), the bass clarinet, the pad, etc. I wanted to write a piece of music that used as many of them as possible.
There are a few sounds here, like the kick drum and percussive “hits” (synth-cymbal?), that were made for this song and immediately deleted. They’re easy - I can whip them up quicker than I can find them scrolling through dozens of sounds!
And I did reuse some that I've used before, though a few I purposefully left out.
Anyway, even though this is a kind of demo of some of the Additive/FM sounds I’ve been making with the Synclavier Regen, I do hope you actually like the song. Oh, yeah, and the little poem I wrote to go with it.

Great sound design job and the song it's cool. There were a few moments in the first half that reminded me of the "Trans" album by Neil Young and i though i heard him singing with the Vocoder.

Thanks! I did try for a few very vocal sounds, so perhaps there were some vocoder-ish sounds in there.
To be honest, before today I would not have thought of Neil Young when I thought "Synclavier" or even when I thought "vocoder". I just listened to Trans. Pretty cool, and very different from what I am used to from him.
Funny, before i read your comment I was thinking I need to play with my vocoder on my next song.

@@trentpmcd Yeah it's weird to think about it but at one point of his career Neil bought a Synclavier and recorder a couple of albums using it. They are "questionable" at times but at least give you a different prospective of the use of the Synclavier.
I refuse to believe that the Synclavier is famous only for that Michael Jackson song or Frank Zappa.
I am a big Depeche Mode fan and i know they used the Synclavier a TON between 1983 and 87 but there are a lot of other stuff with the Synclavier on it. The new (well, it came out in 2020) Puscifer record is full of Synclavier and it's a great record with a more modern prospective on the instrument.
Your videos are really helpfull for people like me who are so much torn between buying the Regen or something like the Waldorf Iridium.
Please, continue to publish stuff with the Regen because they are great and you're doing a big favour to the company.

@@enricopallazzoofficial When I think of Synclavier, my first thought is actually Laurie Anderson, way way ahead of MJ. lol, I know... Though Zappa is near the top, as is Pat Metheny.
I'm glad you're getting something out of these videos. I should explore using samples, but I am having so much fun with the additive and FM...
