Just seen the AJP in real life, wow. Priced right but even better built right. Lots of thought into design and servicing and riding for on and off road touring with all the pannier attach points integrated and long range tank as standard. two versions. Normal with 48hp and sports with 60hp. difference is ECU remapping and Exhaust but sold direct from the factory as an option. CAn do an average 400km day on a tank no problem.
That AJP is my idea of an adventure bike, not like those overweight behemoths that have adventure written on the tank. Pity I am a bit over the hill to do the real hardcore stuff but no harm in dreaming, the old DR650 will have to do for now.
I get your point. But reality is that most long distance adventure around Europe will be 90 road and 10 offroad. Europe is a huge market and that is why these bikes are popular.
Alex Lototzky, big bikes are popular here in Australia, and every trip is a long one but it is all about horses for courses at the end of the day. An adventure bike to me is something you can take where you can not go on a road bike, Europe has the TET, America has the TAT, Russia has the BAM. It all depends on your definition of adventure.
Actually it's an original Husqvarna engine, not the BMW. When BMW took over, they sold this engine rights to SWM and equiped the TE650 with their Rotax engine used in G650 series
AJP7 - has 5000km between oil changes, and 165kg fully fuelled (17L), £7k and looking way more agile on camera than a full adventure bike. Ok, I want to know more, take it on a real adventure please, eg the TET with luggage.
I'm in oz & have one. It has 17 litres, good for 350-400 km's. I think that's plenty, even for Australia. I'm fine using fuel bladders for those rare occasions that you need more.
Let´s be honest 17 L tank gives you a range of ~ 350 to 450 km. In absolutely normal use. No economy driving, etc. That is more a stretch of imagination than real world need. ;-)
I have to admit, I like to old logo a whole lot better. In fact, if you had some of the old style stickers and a good way to get a few to Thailand, I'd be interested. Maybe "Tales from the Trail - Mae Hong Song Edition"?
One of the official AJP Dealers here in Portugal is next to my door 😱😂 the guy was mounting 2 250cc bikes for customers in the backyard.... Didn't know that people were so crazy about these bikes.
How tall is Graham? The seat height on the PR7 looked a little low - knee height whilst standing on the pegs - but with that said, I've got a PR3 and I'm 6ft6 and don't seem to have many problems. What's the parts supply like? I've had trouble ordering the two "stepped" spacers to fit my rear wheel bearings/axle and they're cheap little parts! Would I be able to order the headlight assembly from the PR7 individually and modify it to fit my PR3 as this was essentially what I planned on doing before I'd ever heard of the PR7 (coincidentally, searching the PR7 brought me to this video). Also - those impact tests... with rubber coated weights which visibly absorbed some impact forces (visible deformation upon impact rather than imparting the forces through to the pannier, and damage to the rubber coating)... I don't think they represented the damage those panniers are likely to endure - such as the weight of the bike and rider falling from 1.5m through an arc, or the forces imparted through catching a rocky outcrop or tree at speed - the cases also weren't attached to anything (such as being strapped down or bolted to a frame) which meant that a lot of the energy was "rebounded" as could be seen by the panniers "bouncing" and rolling - these don't imitate real life scenarios. Other than that, great video, but I'd love to see more of the features of the bike than it being ridden softly around. My PR3 goes through a LOT worse than that whilst it's out and I wouldn't expect it to fail, but the PR7 should be able to take a lot more abuse than the PR3, given that it's larger, more expensive and built for "endurance".
The test of the AJP was still unsatisfactory, IMO. I would like to see you going around the bike with the videocamera, show details, show the big display, the tank, the seat, and so on. I want also to see you turning on the bike to hear the sound. We're full of useless video showing testers driving with a fancy music in background. At the end they say "great bike!", and that's all the info you get. PLEASE, stop making videos like that, pleaseeeeee!
These sound like nice changes👍🏽👏. ABT has improved quite a bit already IMO. Noteworthy is the inclusion of real testing rather than some puddles and a stretch of gravel for the bikes. -Much more meaningful. Came very close to unsubscribing several times for a while, glad I stayed.
Ajp pr7 is The best adventure bike, and somewhat it's so overrated. The only bike that you can compared with [in different ages] is the nx650 dominator. Time will prove my words. Long live ADV
I was at the AJP Factory a bit over a year ago. Spoke to them about the marketing or lack thereof... I can honestly say that the factory was horrible, I won’t spend that money on something built in such messy, confused and confusing factory... save on long term headaches and go for the new Yamaha 700, KTM 790 or any of the other better known brands
I´ve been to the factory once. Long time ago, still in the "old" installations. One thing I can tell you right away. In no other "factory", meaning the big ones, you will have the chance of talking about the bike being built in front of you. You can really see it. It´s not "hidden" somewhere behind a corporate wall. With the factory owner make comments or more important receive direct feedback about what you´re getting. You might try that in KTM and equivalents. ;-) Getting a fairly decent product with a good price and less headaches than most big ones... Well you tell me what´s wrong in that. ;-) Cheers
too much taking and not enough riding footage (except for the bike review). I am not a regular viewer but I think you miss the target of youtube trying to make a TV style 3o min show. Just my humble opinion guys.
They're on Series 5, have 7-16k views per episode and 16k subscribers. Not sure they're missing the target. Each episode differs and sometimes Under the Visor takes up a disproportionate amount of the show, but if it's as much about adventures as about the bikes, then there's going to be some discussion as well as some pretty pictures.

Already ordered and paid for, just waiting for mine to arrive. Great review btw!
I love that AJP! I think I need one in my life! Looking forward to the new gig!!!

Top review as always mate and having rode the AJP at Sweet Lamb last week Im off to see Martin at Torque about getting one.
Thanks for another brilliant show, looking forward to the new format as well with more riding & bike reviews!
Excellent work!!! The changes sound perfect, really looking forward to seeing the revamped shows. Thanks for listening 😊
I'll miss the old but look forward to the new...Always great work!!
Great show as always 😁👍🏻 super excited about the “new” ABTV in December. Can’t wait do see it ✊🏻🤘🏻
Great show , thanks to all involved .
The PR7 uses an improved Husqvarna te630 (BMW days) engine so it's a well tested engine.
Actually it's an original Husqvarna engine, not the BMW. When BMW took over, they sold this engine rights to SWM and equiped the TE650 with their Rotax engine used in G650 series

thank god you're making changes.....can't wait!
Don't mind the adverts as there appropriate. Love that water entry Graham.
How about special invite for Patrons to watch the show being filmed ;-)
The AJP PR7 has been in Australia for a fair while now. The limited fuel capacity is an issue though. Big distances here.

If you are going to be reviewing older bikes would you consider doing the early F650GS Dakar?
I have a 2004 and love it!!!
The project bike(s) - are they continuing?

My big question about the AJP is how well it carries luggage - that subframe looks awful svelte! I pack light and prefer soft luggage, but even so...

A used bike review is a great idea. Not sure if I will buy an actual new bike for years.
ajp are my fav enduro
ever done a KLR bike review? Kawi is going to stop making them.

Ktm will give you plenty of headaches as well if ride them rocker arms and such
