This is the classic vintage hairstyles that my grandmother and mother used to do back in the day! The 90s were the last decade we used roller wraps like this! I am white with straight hair, I asked my hairdresser to permenent curl for my hair. I meant big curly not fuzzy one. Right now I ended up my hair like you guys which is real headaches for me. I understand how difficult and time consuming it is for you.I thought it would be easy and I don’t have to style it every time I take a shower. I end up taking so much my time the reverse that I paid over 150 dollars for my stupidity and my stupid hairdresser.

Hers always came out so straight I thought she had a relaxer😂😂 but after she shampooed her kinky curls came right back!! Her hair always had so much body and movement.

I'm so excited to see more women going back to this way of straightening hair. I used to do it this way years ago or I would go to the salon for a wash and set. I love sitting under the dryer because I could sit and check my email, read a magazine, watch TV or have a nap. I can't tell you the difference that made me feel. Before I knew it, the hairstylist would be waking me up from my nap. That little nap was sometimes all I needed.

Unfortunately, black girls got carried away with using blow dryers, like the white girls. Their hair being naturally oily in most cases, all white hair has more natural oil than blacks, can tolerate the heat from blow dryers! OURS CANNOT?I think a lot of hair dressers started using blow drying instead of rolling, because it takes lots less time. At the same time, using oil on black hair became less popular. These two disasters brought about a lot of breakage and weaving and gluing and sewing became a solution. Well, those tactics brought about missing edges and bald spots! Which led us back to wigs and lace front wigs. Glad to see rollers makings come back.Dont forget to oil scalp and ends. The type of oil you use depends on your hair type. This video took me back to my relaxer days in the late 90s & early 2000s! I’m 42 years old & the good old school roller wrap hairstyle GREW my hair & made it HEALTHIER! Unfortunately, my stylist has retired, because she said “most of clients wanted BONE STRAIGHT hair without the body”! She didn’t like using flat irons all the time, just the old school hot comb & rollers. She was tired of being told “how other stylists were using this & that to get bone straight hair”.
But I’ve always loved the roller wrap hairstyle & I may need to get my cousin to do it for me. I use KeraCare products whenever I use heat on my hair.

I always got my hair done like this growing up and in my twenties I cut all my hair off and had to start all over because of a bad hair cut/color that drove me crazy. I grew my hair out all natural, no heat for about 5 years. Finally went back to the dominicans (I'm dominican) to get my hair done, not only were the rollers super loose, she then blow dried excessively and wanted to flat iron after. I literally got into an argument with her about not using the flat iron, she insisted! I had to be like ma'am, I'm old school, I wanted to roller set, just a little blowdry to get the roots and call it a day. My hair smelled so burned I had to have her cut 4 inches off. Fast forward to me ordering a whole set for my house and learning how to do it through youtube lol. Bone straight was never my thing and I dont want heat damage. I cant trust salons anymore, I was so disappointed.

I would roll the crown of my head with just 3 rollers and wrap my the rest wet to the right of my head. Let that dry and take down just the wrapping part and wrap the other way to the left side. My mom used to do this on my hair for special occasions. The curls last forever.

I first had this doner by a hairdresser of Ethiopian descent in Chicago. I was amazed my hair dried straight. Sometimes, she would press just the roots if I requested.
Having watched this video, I'm now going to try this myself at home.
    Thanks for posting it!

Thanks girl.. i knew there was a way to roller set without friz. I use that mousse when I do wash in gos and it helps define my curls. Can't wait to do this. That's why I never got rid of my rollers.
