Loved every minute. You need to get a special plate made - like they do on Aston Martin engines - ‘engine hand built by Sreten’ and your signature inscribed - then attach it to the engine for everyone to see - and know they have a quality engine that is assembled like a Swiss watch. We all love your technical ability and know how, but your commentary, video editing and camera angles are worthy of a great producer, director and raconteur all rolled into one. 😊

Any bearing manufacturer (Clevite e.g.) will tell you that most replaced engine bearings receive some damage from contamination that was left behind during assembly. That contamination can be measured in MICRONS, and the only way to prevent such damage is to be scrupulously clean during assembly!

not needed as he used thick assy. graphite lube. just crank with no ign till pressure is up, then connect ign. and fire. Done it hundreds of times on high power race engines with no issue. Proper engine builders use graphite heavy thickness lube for this reason (also long term storage of race engines). Regular Oil or assembly oil (slightly thicker) just runs down into the sump and is lost within a few days and offers mediocre protection. You can also setup some motorsport ecu's to crank an engine over with no ign. and finally fire when pressure is up to assure a solid oil film has built up b4 she sings. Did Streten lube the piston gudgeon pin? I use an oil spray pot to ensure the oil is fired into parts that need oiling and make sure it gets into all the gaps, a brush just introduces the chance of foreign particles to make their way into delicate parts. Kind regards from an engineer retired in Spain.

German over-engineering was a wonderful thing in the past, but I think the cost engineers have shaved the reliability out of it now.

I have absolutely no interest in rebuilding engines but I just watched you for an hour and a quarter rebuild a V8 and I have no regrets. Attention to detail on this build is amazing and the whole thing was so satisfying to watch.

Phenomenal work, both with the build and the video production. Looking forward to seeing it come to life again and you can give a giant middle finger to Alpina for saying it can't/shouldn't be done.

One of the best episodes and a great addition to the channel. I also would like to see a tag on the engine stating "Hand re-built by sreten". I'm pretty sure it'll run better than when it came out of factory. Almost sad to see the end of this episode. The long night begins, again!

Finished watching and loved every second. It’s just fabulous to watch you, the attention to detail and the relationship you have with all mechanical stuff. Pure pleasure! At the same time it’s a bit sad - when thinking of regular mechanics and their approach to work in comparison. Understandable difference of course, but still sad 😀.
Hope you become the next Iain Tyrell for BMWs. I’ll save my E39 M5 until then and have it restored by you 🙏😀.
    Respect!

I rebuilt my first engine a few years ago. It was an old datsun 4 banger and like you I learned a ton. It requires alot of patience and attention to details. Looks like you did a great job! That first start is nerve racking because I was questioning if I got everything right. So much can go wrong. I have no doubt yours will fire right up like mine did. Cheers from Texas!

Just epic. The first episode of the Alpina came to my attention by TH-cam algorithm and is the reason why I follow the channel. Since November I've watched all the videos on the channel and love them! When this one showed up I was so happy! After watching it I've watched all the Alpina episodes again, and then watched this one again. When you see them all for the second time and right after eachother everything makes much more sense. Keep up the good work, can't wait for the next one!
