I am new to your channel. But I throughly enjoyed the fact that history is being told here. Because so many people are not told of facts of how our ancestors lived and survived and pasted away. Your preserving family past in your words. Thank you.

Wonderful video Leo. It is so sad that the city or country will not keep this cemetery up. You have done some awesome research on pieces of WV history especially the Hatfield family. I have been giving some thought to the Mamie Thurman murder. Do you think that maybe she was murdered by her husband because he learned what Mamie had been doing? Thank you for this neat video.

Beautiful country. I am glad that someone is trying to keep up the city cemetery, both cemeteries actually look good. A Hatfield and a McCoy together in the same crime? I cannot picture it 😮
Thank you very much Leo and Heather, this was a very interesting video.

I think it might be beneficial for people to understand that not all marriages, births, deaths or divorces were recorded. And as we all know, you aren't born, live or die unless the government says you do. There are many, many people who might appear in a census record that has no documentation other than that. Usually, children born out of wedlock were never recorded.
And if there is some economic reason, by illness or something else, children would be parsed out among relatives to be brought up with a surname they were not born with. Adoption was not necessarily legal in those days, if a man married a woman who had children before, they would simply just take on his surname. They sometimes would be sent to work with relatives, and the census enumerator would call them by what the head of the house was, even though they might be there temporarily.

When you get to Nashville please be careful lower Broadway is a very dangerous place. Nashville changed after (stringbean)David Ackerman and his wife got murdered, many of the big names and country music n recording industry moved out to Branson Missouri, just not the same place it was 30 years ago,😢

Great story, I gather that if a McCoy and a Hatfield were against each other, so in course of the events, if someone was against both the Hatfield's and McCoy's, then of course they would join forces together! Both families were forces to be reckoned with! Tell next time stay true to the hillbillies!
