I'm not all that sure that there could be a better teacher then you Steve. Just seeing you standing there with your adorable daughter melts my heart even before the class starts. Thank you for making the world a better place as I'm sure your children will as well.

Steve...I'm loving your classes. I'm 66 & am always willing to learn. Also, you & your wife are doing a super job, raising those children. That Marill is precious!! And your boy's were adorable in the story about them & their love of country music. Oh man...your making some amazing stories about some even more fantastic people. Keep on fighting the good fight, kind sir...your making a difference!!

Are kindness and altruism the same thing? Can one be kind without being altruistic?

I'm not sure "altruism" is the right word for (at least some of) what is being described.

Is kindness the same thing as altruism or selflessness? One might be kind to others because then they will be kind to you in return, in which case it is in one's own interest to be kind. But if it's in one's own interest to be kind (which I think it often is) why call it "altruistic" or "selfless"? Why not call it
    "self-interested" or "selfish" or "egoistic"?
