In seventh grade a boy passed me a beautiful love note. That was 1962. I saved it. We were married in 1968, but divorced in 1971. I still saved it. And recently I gave it to our son, so he knows that we were once deeply in love.
The story about the man who knew one thing -- that he had to buy flowers for his wife for Mothers Day -- is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
I threw away my wedding photos, after my divorce. I got rid of every single thing that bonded us, except our kids and the love letters he wrote me when he was boot camp. I decided to read this again, after 10 years of divorce. It was weird and lovely, at the same time. I saved them for my kids to read, when I'm gone from this earth. They don't know it yet. I just want my kids to know that they were created in a moment of love.
The story of the kidney transplant really got to me. My husband was on dialysis for nearly 4 years before he went to the Lord. He never made it to the transplant list, but he always said when he finished a job, it was time to move on to something else. I think he had checked off all his "jobs" before he left me, but he's still in my heart and dreams every day.
This needs to be a weekly show/ weekly tv magazine like 60 minutes,, we need more positive stories, we are awash in toxic politics and negativity. We need more love and light
I agree wholeheartedly! I could listen to Steve Hartman for hours, and use a box or two of tissues along the way. He shows the good side of humanity which needs to be shown more.
Steve Hartman you do wonderful stories thank you many years come . I hope you do more stories and best thing CBS did Steve allow tell your story. Great video's keep up good work.
Steve, 2 stories in the episode almost brought tears to my eyes, well did, I to am a transplant patient, my wife was my first transplant coordinator. Now were going's g pm 34 years together. The other one was the story about the man with Alzheimer's, it made me think of my late mother in law, she passed from Alzheimer's disease. She was amazing to me. Thank you for doing these 2 stories. Robert
These were all beautiful stories but the goose one got to me the most. Amelia knew where Arnold was and visited him daily, flying off across the lake together at the end. Such a tear-jerker.
How can your heart be happy and break at the same time? These stories are wonderfully poignant, worth shedding tears while smiling. Steve Hartman is a national treasure.
A Marines service to country never ends. Lucky for this Marine, his gift of a lifetime came back to him a million times over. What a story. Semper Fi 🇺🇸.
LOVE Steve's stories! If appropriate and approved by Steve's wife & the CBS team I would love to see how his children are growing I so enjoyed their Kindness series.
Wow, I don't know which love story was my favorite. They were all amazing. From the man who donated his kidney to his future wife, to the man who was lost but insisted on buying flowers for his wife, to the man determined to find a kidney for his dying wife, to Mrs Goose, who visited her recuperating husband, Mr Goose. They were all wonderful. I cried when I saw every story. Thanks Steve Hartman for sharing.
This is like a cool oasis in a desert of cactus thorns and blazing relentless heat. I love seeing people behave selflessly because they understand that love isn't a commodity you run out of, it's the goose that lays the golden egg.
I'm so happy I found this:) I hadn't seen Steve's segment on CBS Sunday Morning for a couple of weeks and was actually worried about him. At 65 years young I've been watching 'On the Road' faithfully for well over Steve's 25 years! No matter what this is always a guaranteed smile ~ ✌🌷
I absolutely love Steve Hartman and the stories he shares with us. I know every time I watch him I will end up in a puddle of tears but I somehow feel good after watching his story. Thank you for being with us every Friday evening. ❤️
Condolences, friend. Hope you have still been wading through the sadness. But it's okay if you can't stay strong all the time--just be kind to yourself. Best wishes!
This was a much needed story! My dear husband died almost ten years ago and the situation in Ukraine has me quite upset but this post has raised my feelings greatly!!! Grateful!!!❤️🌹🌻🌻🌻
If I ever need a pick me up or just a random shot levity, Steve Hartman always delivers. I enjoy his segments so very much - and have my two young daughters sit down and watch them with me. It’s heart - happy journalism ❤️
I loved this!! After watching this, I went and got my parents Brach's Chocolate box..but wait this box is 65 yrs old and certainly no chocolate could last that long. Inside are my parents love letters after they got married and before I was born 5 yrs later. My dad was such a romantic man. I shed tears reading again some of these love letters and notes
With so much bad news today, can't tell you how you lift my spirits and hope for humanity. Thank you Mr. Hartman for giving us all hope and faith in the kindness of people
I remember watching these as a kid when Charles Krolt started them. I still watch them whenever I can, even though I have missed a few years of them. Keep up the good work, Steve, and as long as you're making them. I, along millions of other people, will keep watching
My husband and I of 15 years are getting ready to move. In our attic he found a box with a newspaper that says “This is war”. I wasn’t sure what it was. Then underneath were my “war” love letters from my marine boyfriend during the Iraq war. I was 20. He was 22. I said, you are my person, but I have to keep war love letters. He agreed. This is why I love him so much. It is history…..and my history. And he embraced it. Another reason why I love him.
I have some old love letters from a girl I dated in high school. She and her fiancé were killed in a car accident five years ago. They left behind two little girls. And I did consider disposing of them, many times in fact. However, how can I do it now? They’re a connection to someone I cared for who is no longer here. Some people think that holding on to things like that keep you in the past and prevent you from moving forward. I hold with those who think that it’s just nostalgic. It reminds you of what you had and keeps you from forgetting where you came from. And in some cases it gives you something to hold on to.
Alright, Mr. Hartman…I promised myself not to watch any of your pieces without Kleenex! I haven’t been able to watch hardly any without tearing up! Brilliant work showing the human heart at its best. Thank you so much!
Thank you and bless you for continuing to share stories of hope and love and God‘s power. Steve were you the creator of on the road again? Our nation and our world needs more of this love met flourish in His name. Amen
Thank you for all these stories and all of the stories for the past years. They have brought so much happiness to so many. These kinds of stories are life changing and I thank you so much for your contribution to the world. With love and appreciation!
This is a very beautiful anthology of love stories. I was misty-eyed the whole time. Please take a look, this will make you inspired and hopeful to the positive things in life..

Yes . I always told my kids they were created out of love no matter what

I'm so sorry for your loss. As long as he is in your heart and mind, he will keep living.
Ohhh
I’m so sorry for your loss, but happy for your wonderful memories that live on.
In your dreams letting you know he's still with you--the ones where you feel you physically touched him are the best ❤
@@chrissigrigsby871 Yesterday was the anniversary of my first date with him.

Two of my favorite ❤
Wow, I don't know which love story was my favorite. They were all amazing. that second story is so sweet
This is like a cool oasis in a desert of cactus thorns and blazing relentless heat. I love seeing people behave selflessly because they understand that love isn't a commodity you run out of, it's the goose that lays the golden egg.
Quote of the decade…..”It’s AMAZING what’s possible…when love becomes an instinct.” Steve Hartman, simply profound!!!
I'm so happy I found this:) I hadn't seen Steve's segment on CBS Sunday Morning for a couple of weeks and was actually worried about him. At 65 years young I've been watching 'On the Road' faithfully for well over Steve's 25 years! No matter what this is always a guaranteed smile ~

Omg, best love story ever. (Liver transplant. ). When he said he was the groom, I put my hand over my mouth in shock, then in joy.
