I run track at a Division 2 college and our trainers are not that knowledgeable. It is crazy to me that when I come to then telling them I have pain in both of my hips in the socket area whenever I get into a deep squat or lots of hip flexion they say it’s something it isn’t when I know it’s actually a hip impingement. It’s crazy how incompetent and how much people don’t know. I know more than the physical therapists and trainers I have been helped by. I have the worst internal rotation in my hips I have ever seen in anyone. The banded joint mobilizations do help to an extent but I still feel hip pinching because I have such limited IR. Hopefully this and hip airplanes and other things help. The trainers don’t even do a simple Fabre test or Thomas test to test my flexibility for anything. Mind boggling

When in that 90/90 sit on the floor. Try to go into internal rotation by lifting the ankle of the leg behind you. You should be able to do this being upright not needing to lean to the side. Leaning to the side will make it easier and can be a good exercise to begin with. The movement is slight and you probably will only be able to lift the ankle by 2 inches or so.

Been with the exact same symptoms for 6 months. Started during officiating basketball game and has been with me ever since. Same left leg too. I can barely even tie my left shoe in the morning due to weak rotation and strength. Im always comfused because thing right foot shoe is no problem, dont even think about it. I squat just fine too. Work out 5-6 days a week. Run about 10 miles a week but that hip can get super sore if I dont run on treadmill. Gotta try these excercises. I mean, exact same symptoms. *Edit: I did the excercies. Is this some kind of black magic? What in the world. Pain is gone after ten short reps. Huh? I dont get it. Anyway, couple of points to clear up for folks, this is not a strength excercise. You place band as high up on hip as possible, RELAX hip and use your hand to physically push inward on your knee. So you're not flexing your hip in
That was indeed stated on the video but wanted to reiterate the point. Weird that this works, still dont get it...

Lots of great content but there is no legitimacy to banded joint mobility. Your hip joint just isnt that malleable for a band to be effected by a band anchored. The contraction demonstrated while doing the banded joint progression is likely where the relief is coming from. Just ditch the band already.
