      darnhotlovesjosh we just got a rescue Anatolian. They need serious training. I'm taking Max to a trainer this week to work with him. It takes alot of dedication to get a dog to that point alone. I think it's alot of research and time if you are doing it yourself. I would advise hiring a trainer and do a few sessions to get the basics down. Work on those then get them back to work on other stuff. It's what I am about to do. Good luck.

      Anatolian Shepherds were bred to tend to farm animals. They obey when they are part of work routine. They are not meant to walk on the leash, to come every time someone wishes, to sit or stay as we want! it's so stupid that 6000 years genetics we try to adjust to our egoistic fantasies! They are not pets!!! yet they are highly intelligent, so they learn quickly. However they are free thinkers as the farm work has taught them to be. Don't expect them to always follow your mind!

    kangal are free animals so it's hard to train

    My AS is a dream with our family, but SO aggressive (pc: reactive) with other dogs.

      I have one, it’s not that bad unless the other dog does something first or goes near his property.

    She is not a Service Dog so she should not be taken into public places.
    The owners don't need her to be Service Dog public access trained because theyll never take her into a public store, as it is illegal.
    And WHY put a vest on her? Her handler is not disabled so the dog is not allowed in there, trained or not. You're passing this dog off as a Service dog and it is not. Completely wrong.

    Now do the same when the dog is 5 years old. You'll never be able to do this with an Anatolian when he/she grows into their full personalities.

    I get that you are a trainer but that doesnt give you public access rights with the dog. Only service animals have public access rights. And if the owner is not disabled and takes their dog into a non pet friendly place then they are committing a crime that will end up in a huge fine and at worst jail time. Please dont take a dog into non pet friendly places if its not a tasked trained service dog. This can also hurt real service dog teams and is putting their life lines at risk. They actually need these dogs. So if you take a dog into a public place please make sure it is pet friendly

    Why Is the dog going into the store If it's a pet Only a service dog can go in to public places, That are not Pet Friendly and Service dogs are not traind in only two weeks.

      Hobby Lobby is pet friendly, however IKEA is not. I also noticed she had a little cape on the dog when in the SD only store, which is pretty shitty. As an SD handler myself, It makes me really nervous to see pets off leash, especially in parking lots. Stuff happens, and two weeks is not enough time to guarantee the dog, especially an independent breed like an Anatolian, won't wander a bit (and a bit is all it takes to get hit by a car). There is no reason this dog should be off leash, other than the company to show off it's flashy tricks

      Even if the dog is controlled, the dog is NOT a service dog nor has been service dog trained, and the handler is not Disabled so it is still completely illegal. Just because someone has a trained pet doesn't mean they can go into public stores. I'm a handler too and this bothers me heavily too!

      @rodneysrecreations469 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @R Bee EXACTLY. The dog is NOT a service dog, thus making it illegal and a completely inappropriate place to train/take a pet dog. You answered your own question. The dog is not allowed there and its spreading false information.

    Ok I’m probably late to this but I have an Anatolian shepherd, AND. A service dog... while I love the breed and them interacting with the public this is absolutely not ok to take a Non-service dog into a non-pet friendly store. IKEA is not pet friendly. The rest, to my knowledge are. But it amazes me the only place you decided to put the vest on was in the place where it wasn’t pet friendly... shame on you guys

    She is a wonderful trainer however she is ruined that dog by training it the way she did Anatolians are not meant to be a companion dog they are livestock guardian dogs and are prized for their ability to think for their self's and by training it the way she did she took away that dogs ability to think for its self its just a shame for me to see . I have owned Anatolian shepherds for 15 years people need to do more research before buying a dog like this they need alot of land a good family that loves them and also livestock to guard thats what these dogs were bred to do for thousands of years it is in their DNA to guard livestock they are not a poodle and should not be trained to act like one

    So many Karen’s that have zero concept of training public access and which stores are pet friendly.
    Miserable pitiful soulless lives are in full hateful display

    Anatolian Shepherds and other LGDs are not home pets. If you do not have big farm and lifestock than do not get an Anatolian!
