I'm filled with joy seeing Corrin in A+. I've played Corrin since launch, and the buffs they received throughout the updates were game changers. Of course, I'm not good at smash, so I'm glad people like Leo, Cosmos, Shadic, Neo, and even Sparg0 have showed just how good this character is.

You will find Little Mac mains that can shake the nerves of even top players. Results are merely suggestions. Difficulty levels. And importantly, an invitation to push these characters past their limits, so we can make Hungrybox do more tier lists.
The nature of Pikachu's kit. Since smash 64 Pikachu has had all the right ingredients to always be top tier. I infact think it's so perfect he hasn't been changed much since melee in terms of how he is mechanically used.
Pikachu and Fox are far and away the best 2 characters across all Smash games. It's also very close between them for who is the overall best, but Fox has the edge after Ultimate.

its based on everything thats been seen tested and known, if you happen to be godlike with an D tier character and it works on almost everyone and you become top in the world that character is gonna get updated in the tier list. look at Yoshi with Melee ever since Amsa started dominating everyone Yoshi got placed significantly higher on the tier list while Yoshi's position on the list list barely changed the last 5-10 maybe 20 years years. a true character tierlist can only be made if u let the most broken OP training bots battle it out for eternity and then check who has the most mins vs the least wins and thats your 'Official strongest character'

Fun fact: out of all the smash Brothers characters from 64 to Ultimate: Fox and Pikachu are the only two veterans in every smash Brothers that has been consistently good. The lowest they have ever been was between mid to high tier (Pikachu being mid to high tier in melee, Fox being mid to high tier in brawl)

i mean melee is a good example of a game that's not stagnant despite not really having any tier list changes happen. ofc melee is different, since the number of good characters is so small that the individual matchups are far more advanced than anything you'll see in ultimate with the big number of viable characters - but it still shows that changes in the tier list are not the only reflection of advancements being made
A relatively set in stone tier list isn’t the sign of a stagnant, dying game. Melee alone is proof of that and there’s plenty more examples. There’s more that goes to a thriving scene than just the tier list

Marth is by far the saddest character in Smash Bros history. He was so hype in every Smash game and was seen as high or even top tier in those games. In Ultimate, they REALLY screwed him up (especially with Dancing Blade tipper being so small while Roy gets a jumbo sweetspot that kills around the same percent). Whoever designed Marth in Ultimate was tired of him being good. But even then, he could STILL go up tiers. He has the frame data of an A+ character and he has his X factor, but he is so much more difficult. If someone actually wins a major with him I bet the Marth player popularity will SKYROCKET.
-Plant may be bad, but it’s still a very fun character to play, Ptooie snipes are so fun to hit -Inkling is still my fav since launch, even with people dropping them, I’ll still play them. Such a fluid and fun character to play, everything about them just flows so well together for me and I love it -For being the most middle character of the game, anytime someone says it’s Pit, somehow it just seems in character for him

As soon as Steve came out, i knew he would be insane once people mastered him. His mechanics are so damn weird (every time i play him i SD on his Up B) but god damn, he's a menace.
Yeah, very much so. When the game first came out, I just thought Incineroar was just kind of a waste. It wasn't until months later that I picked him up and started consistently practicing with him. Revenge is just ridiculous and I might even commit to actually maining him. I'm glad he is getting more respect now.
I still think mewtwo is a sleeper pick. Yeah he has some big weaknesses, but he does such high damage and has some very unique combos. His neutral B and his fair are some of the best moves in the game
Ehhhhh I wouldn’t call it new, 5 1/2 years is kinda massive in terms of meta development, but I would call it consistently relevant to the point where people will be actively trying to define the meta in their own way for a good while to come. Most of the meta is still solved however, which for a new or new enough game isn’t really the case. It just has very deep mechanics that some small scraps of have yet to be uncovered
His ledge traps are awesome and he has the best offstage game of any super heavyweight. His recovery can be punished in some scenarios, but he has many options for mixing up his recovery and much of the roster would be risking a lot by challenging him offstage. Inhale is also a pretty strong mix-up and punish. I'm not saying he's mid-tier, but I do think that he's underrated.

Also a faster inhale with better reflections, gordos that are consistent and don't get reflected by everything (should only clank with most things honestly), f-smash that actually breaks shields (don't see why landing up-B shouldn't do this too for that matter), and a way better down air. And while we're at it, make jet-hammer cancellable 😈

If Amsa took Melee Yoshi from looking like bottom 5 to potentially top 6-8 in Melee, I have a strong hunch that the meta can be pushed far further than this. We may not see an astronomical shake up that makes it look like a completely different meta. but I certainly think some of the A’s and B’s can switch tiers faster than one might expect.

@@logopiler I don't think one person is enough. The reason why pro players have a better opinion on Corrin in recent times isn't solely because of SHADIC. He is a big part of it. But Neo and LY also make a scene with Corrin help a lot. Not to mention Top players like Sparg0 picking her up and doing really well make it even more apparent.

As an Olimar main, i think he is very underrated and has some good combos. He does take a lot if skill to play well, but once you get to that point, he is so good and fun to play
Remember that when they put Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman in 2020, THEY DIDN'T ADD EVERYTHING THAT THEY COULD DO IN MINECRAFT, such as the bow/crossbow and arrows, potions, enchantments, armor different materials, the Trident (also enchanted), the teleportation pearls, the "unique blocks", such as the soul block, slime blocks or honey blocks... and of course they did not add and will never add the Totem of Undying... and much, much more.

Yep. The God, who is the creator and destroyer of worlds, proves why they give him that divine title. People easily forget or don't know that Steve IS STRONG in his original game and games like Minecraft Dungeons. He makes it more than clear that with everything he does and not just SSBU, he is surprisingly skilled at almost EVERYTHING. He and other characters like Alex (or rather, the "Minecraftians"), are superior beings in Minecraft and technically in other universes as well if we compare powers.
as good as steve is, I agree with not putting him in his own tier. if you looked at Brawl, you were effectively agreeing to never place first in a tournament unless you played meta knight. sure, exceptions happened, in the way a guy on a bicycle *could* beat an F1 drive if their car broke down. but generally if skill was the same between a meta knight player and the player of any other character, the meta knight player should win, period. he even *had his own tier above a character who had their own s-tier (ice climbers.)* he was even worse than smash 4 bayo. steve strikes me more like fox from melee. clearly the best character, but at top level play there’s still a very real chance that steve could lose. his play style and kit are very frustrating, but not unbeatable. *unbeatable characters* like meta knight are the ones who deserve the crown of crowns, a character who is so broken that even broken characters think he’s broken. meta is literally part of his name. steve can’t compare.

I do think they’re worse than some of the other E/D tiers, but my god, glad to see HBox put him at #12 instead of C tier. I'd love to see some Hbox vs the other supreme Puff players. The previous final tier video is still relevant because of how each character gets some mechanical description explaining the tier position. This one is great because it compares the characters by usage and win rate which, in the end, is what really matters in a tier list.
I'm going to say, the reason the "4 horsemen" are able to beat up the best steve, is because the best steve is carried by fsr the most out of the top players. Acolas actual skill probably at best puts him in the top 30 players in the world. But because he mains steve. He gets number 1 spot. I mean someone like onin, who wasnt a top 100 player in the world was ranked top 15 for a long time, just because he was using steve. Acola is no different besides the fact he is actually a good player, a top player for sure. But not even remotely a top 15 player. Imagine if Debuz actually plays Steve. Thats it. Within the year he will no doubt be #1 player in the world and it wont even be close.
Nah, I'd argue Acola is the ONE Steve main who's not carried by his character (at least not completely). Sure, it may be what solidifies his number 1 spot, but he's still a REALLY good player! His setups and whatnot are not something you'll see from every Steve player, only ones who are actually good. Not like Acola is invincible either, as evidenced by him never beating Spargo in a set (might be a couple of sets when he first broke out that I'm forgetting, but not anything since) and occasional losses against other players, including Big D the Ice Climbers player back in the last Summit. His character helps, but carries him? Not so much.

I’ve been playing ROB for the longest time and NO ONE TOLD ME HE WAS S+ I thought he was just good, good airs, good grabs, great projectiles and a deflector. Now that I look at him as an S+ tier, it actually makes sense in my head.
I think character tiers change significantly based on how many people I’m playing against. If I am playing one on one, I like Ken a lot but in a group I tend to get killed and prefer Cloud as I think he has better crowd control. Speaking of which, he like Mii sword fighter a lot! My son mains Snake and I absolutely crush him with SwordFighter. It drives him crazy lol.

I haven't really followed Ultimate in a hot minute, so some of these placings like Incineroar in B, base Link below the other two, Zero Suit below regular Samus, and Peach/Palu/Pika outside the top 10 are wild. Top 5 in this tier list are all absolute pinnacles of good game design, like having the best traits of every swordfighter on a single character, being able to use your unmatched speed to play keep-away until you go aggressive, creating your own platforms in a platform fighter, or whatever the hell ROB has going on. Also kinda funny how Ganondorf cannot stop being the worst character in the game despite all the buffs they've showered onto him for multiple games now

Fun fact: out of all the smash Brothers characters from 64 to Ultimate: Fox and Pikachu are the only two veterans in every smash Brothers that has been consistently good.
The lowest they have ever been was between mid to high tier (Pikachu being mid to high tier in melee, Fox being mid to high tier in brawl)

i mean melee is a good example of a game that's not stagnant despite not really having any tier list changes happen. ofc melee is different, since the number of good characters is so small that the individual matchups are far more advanced than anything you'll see in ultimate with the big number of viable characters - but it still shows that changes in the tier list are not the only reflection of advancements being made
A relatively set in stone tier list isn’t the sign of a stagnant, dying game. Melee alone is proof of that and there’s plenty more examples. There’s more that goes to a thriving scene than just the tier list

Marth is by far the saddest character in Smash Bros history. He was so hype in every Smash game and was seen as high or even top tier in those games. In Ultimate, they REALLY screwed him up (especially with Dancing Blade tipper being so small while Roy gets a jumbo sweetspot that kills around the same percent).
Whoever designed Marth in Ultimate was tired of him being good.
But even then, he could STILL go up tiers. He has the frame data of an A+ character and he has his X factor, but he is so much more difficult. If someone actually wins a major with him I bet the Marth player popularity will SKYROCKET.

As a Bowser main, I cry everyday I get juggled by [insert any character]
-Plant may be bad, but it’s still a very fun character to play, Ptooie snipes are so fun to hit
-Inkling is still my fav since launch, even with people dropping them, I’ll still play them. Such a fluid and fun character to play, everything about them just flows so well together for me and I love it
-For being the most middle character of the game, anytime someone says it’s Pit, somehow it just seems in character for him

Yeah, very much so. When the game first came out, I just thought Incineroar was just kind of a waste. It wasn't until months later that I picked him up and started consistently practicing with him. Revenge is just ridiculous and I might even commit to actually maining him. I'm glad he is getting more respect now.
Crazy to see G&W at S- last tier and seeing him now at the third best character in the game.

I still think mewtwo is a sleeper pick. Yeah he has some big weaknesses, but he does such high damage and has some very unique combos. His neutral B and his fair are some of the best moves in the game
He has a long grab that kills and does 18 damage too

honestly Ultimate is new enough still where a tier list can really be a yearly or maybe every 6 months updated thing
Ehhhhh I wouldn’t call it new, 5 1/2 years is kinda massive in terms of meta development, but I would call it consistently relevant to the point where people will be actively trying to define the meta in their own way for a good while to come. Most of the meta is still solved however, which for a new or new enough game isn’t really the case. It just has very deep mechanics that some small scraps of have yet to be uncovered
As a bowser main, i cry at the fact that bowser’s no longer the best non-dlc super heavy
corrin rising from doodoo tier at the very start of the game to now nearly s-tier is just beautiful
Dedede has an amaizing advantage state and has decent ground speed. He also has suprisingly good vertical recovery
His ledge traps are awesome and he has the best offstage game of any super heavyweight. His recovery can be punished in some scenarios, but he has many options for mixing up his recovery and much of the roster would be risking a lot by challenging him offstage. Inhale is also a pretty strong mix-up and punish. I'm not saying he's mid-tier, but I do think that he's underrated.

Also a faster inhale with better reflections, gordos that are consistent and don't get reflected by everything (should only clank with most things honestly), f-smash that actually breaks shields (don't see why landing up-B shouldn't do this too for that matter), and a way better down air.
And while we're at it, make jet-hammer cancellable 😈

If Amsa took Melee Yoshi from looking like bottom 5 to potentially top 6-8 in Melee, I have a strong hunch that the meta can be pushed far further than this. We may not see an astronomical shake up that makes it look like a completely different meta. but I certainly think some of the A’s and B’s can switch tiers faster than one might expect.
It's already happening with Corrin. People use to think she's middle of the road character. Now she's in conversation as top 3 best sword character in the game.

@@logopiler I don't think one person is enough. The reason why pro players have a better opinion on Corrin in recent times isn't solely because of SHADIC. He is a big part of it. But Neo and LY also make a scene with Corrin help a lot. Not to mention Top players like Sparg0 picking her up and doing really well make it even more apparent.

Its insane how well Smash is made thst even the bottom tier characters can be really good if you know how to pkay them, Kirby and DK for example, have really good strategies if you're willing to learn them
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Sora Amiibo support doesn’t need to be patched in. People are already using the data in the game to make their own Sora amiibo it’s just that the official figure isn’t out yet
Last patch 13.0.1 did not include the Sora amiibo data. So they do have to patch the game at least for that.

Corrin is certainly better than both at this rate. Way more results and she performs far better against the top tiers. Roy hard loses to Kazuya while Corrin beats him for example.

Yep. The God, who is the creator and destroyer of worlds, proves why they give him that divine title. People easily forget or don't know that Steve IS STRONG in his original game and games like Minecraft Dungeons. He makes it more than clear that with everything he does and not just SSBU, he is surprisingly skilled at almost EVERYTHING. He and other characters like Alex (or rather, the "Minecraftians"), are superior beings in Minecraft and technically in other universes as well if we compare powers.
as good as steve is, I agree with not putting him in his own tier. if you looked at Brawl, you were effectively agreeing to never place first in a tournament unless you played meta knight. sure, exceptions happened, in the way a guy on a bicycle *could* beat an F1 drive if their car broke down. but generally if skill was the same between a meta knight player and the player of any other character, the meta knight player should win, period. he even *had his own tier above a character who had their own s-tier (ice climbers.)* he was even worse than smash 4 bayo.
steve strikes me more like fox from melee. clearly the best character, but at top level play there’s still a very real chance that steve could lose. his play style and kit are very frustrating, but not unbeatable.
*unbeatable characters* like meta knight are the ones who deserve the crown of crowns, a character who is so broken that even broken characters think he’s broken. meta is literally part of his name. steve can’t compare.
3:33 I’m legit surprised people haven’t considered Belmonts to be bottom 10 for the longest time. I do think they’re worse than some of the other E/D tiers, but my god, glad to see HBox put him at #12 instead of C tier. Hopefully anyone who watches the full video can finally see the light and stop considering them a mid tier.

The previous final tier video is still relevant because of how each character gets some mechanical description explaining the tier position. This one is great because it compares the characters by usage and win rate which, in the end, is what really matters in a tier list.

If you asked me in 2015 that the next bayonetta would be minecraft steve, I would have lost my mind.
I'm going to say, the reason the "4 horsemen" are able to beat up the best steve, is because the best steve is carried by fsr the most out of the top players. Acolas actual skill probably at best puts him in the top 30 players in the world. But because he mains steve. He gets number 1 spot.
I mean someone like onin, who wasnt a top 100 player in the world was ranked top 15 for a long time, just because he was using steve. Acola is no different besides the fact he is actually a good player, a top player for sure. But not even remotely a top 15 player.

Nah, I'd argue Acola is the ONE Steve main who's not carried by his character (at least not completely). Sure, it may be what solidifies his number 1 spot, but he's still a REALLY good player! His setups and whatnot are not something you'll see from every Steve player, only ones who are actually good. Not like Acola is invincible either, as evidenced by him never beating Spargo in a set (might be a couple of sets when he first broke out that I'm forgetting, but not anything since) and occasional losses against other players, including Big D the Ice Climbers player back in the last Summit. His character helps, but carries him? Not so much.

I think character tiers change significantly based on how many people I’m playing against.
If I am playing one on one, I like Ken a lot but in a group I tend to get killed and prefer Cloud as I think he has better crowd control.
Speaking of which, he like Mii sword fighter a lot! My son mains Snake and I absolutely crush him with SwordFighter. It drives him crazy lol.

I haven't really followed Ultimate in a hot minute, so some of these placings like Incineroar in B, base Link below the other two, Zero Suit below regular Samus, and Peach/Palu/Pika outside the top 10 are wild. Top 5 in this tier list are all absolute pinnacles of good game design, like having the best traits of every swordfighter on a single character, being able to use your unmatched speed to play keep-away until you go aggressive, creating your own platforms in a platform fighter, or whatever the hell ROB has going on. Also kinda funny how Ganondorf cannot stop being the worst character in the game despite all the buffs they've showered onto him for multiple games now
