Selecting using Luminosity Masks

A short tutorial on creating a luminosity mask and using this one mask to select any area of an image.
Sorry, some processes in the background including the video recording were slowing down the image processing a lot. It normally works much faster.

I have been wondering how to do better luminosity mask selection/creation.
I've got some of the Gimp luminosity scripts/plugins - but making your own using the curves tool is the best.
Your short, simple and descriptive tutorial was a huge help!!
