    Just consider what he's saying here. He had a business which turned over £250k which accepted a £40m contract making products he had no experience of making. It seems to me the chance of him getting some elements of production wrong was enormous. As his existing company was small his ability to cover the costs of any mistakes would have been limited.... yet he took on this risk for no reward!?
    Whatever you think of this explanation someone in government / procurement needs to explain why they thought it appropriate to award a £40m contract to a small company with zero track record for making PPE.

    Pub landlord/Pizza box maker who made the equivalent of 160 years worth of income within 12 months, thinks there is no issue. Even after he says, he made no profit.
    When he said "I know what i'm doing" code for "I know how to avoid tax".
    Who else picked up when he said referring to the equipment he made "all our own design". I suspect he is either being sued or knows it's coming down the pipe, for stealing others patents.

    This guy actually admitted to being corrupt in less than 30 seconds after opening his mouth. "The reason why I had to be a subcontractor is because I wasn't on the NHS framework". And why does the NHS, and all other public entities have said framework? Well my friend its to keep quality high and to stop possible corruption, such as civil servants giving insider advantages to specific contractors, family members, etc. and channeling public funds into the pockets of their mates. Companies must be vetted _before_ being authorised as a contractor, the process includes signed declarations which state if they have any contacts with government employees, who they are, etc.
    The buffoon even said "that [referring to the NHS framework] was the problem". YES you clown, that's what _anyone_ trying to use their government contacts, illegally, in order to channel public money into their business, would say. The anti-corruption measures, that exist to protect OUR public funds, would be described as "a problem" no less.
    There are ways to fast-track the process, specifically for suppliers with special products and services, that can't be sourced elsewhere. So why did they not go through that procedure? Obviously because then he would have to actually _name_ Matt Hancock in the process. That would _automaticlly_ take Hancock "out of the loop". Ie. No -££££- for Matt. That's WHY the clowns company was removed in the redaction. As plain as the nose on your face for anyone who has tendered for _ANY_ public contract in the last 40 years.

      @IIWII Yeah, I mean anybody who has gone through any sort of government procurement procedure know this. Only the newbies (and crooks) see the procedures as being problematic, but once you've done one (and you're on the approved list) it's business as usual. Personally I've processed hundreds of these, and literally dozens of vetting processes. No big deal....
      .... as long as your have nothing to hide that is!

    • @carlmiller2603
      @carlmiller2603 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well said. This is the crux of the issue. He had to manipulate the system by acting as a contractor as there's no way he would ever meet the checks and balances stipulated on the central framework.
      His words , 'the Framework was problematic' shows intent to game the system. Gives the whole game away. James O Brien failed to nail him on this point.
      Any public enquiry should hone in on this specific point. What is astonishing is that these 'chancers' (and that is being kind) see no wrongdoing and yet they get away with it.

    I worked briefly for a printing company last year for about 3 months and all they produced was labels for alcohol bottles and shampoo, certainly nothing medical. That print company had to undergo a thorough and long winded process to get acredited for producing 'sterilised' printing in laboratory conditions. There is no way that this guy would have managed to get the acreditation in place quickly, unless those in authority were both flippent and did not care about 'sterilised' facilities. This guy would not have even set up a process to produce these items or buy in equipment to produce this equipement until he had won the contract and after installation, then he would have had to be inspected, as per the previous measures I have already stated. This is not a five minute process. You have to buy specialised equipment that costs a lot of money and the paperwork required would also cost. I also work for an NHS trust, the process to get put into the system is also long and laborious. The shakiness of this guys voice as the interview carries on is extremely noticeable. At least he gave a few truths within his comments, but if he were to be hooked up to a lie detector for the full duration he would certainly be caught out. As James mentions, the show is recorded and all words he states are now on record, including liable accusations, though I would find it difficult to defend Matt Hancock and his mentality. He appears to be a very wet-behind-the-ears youngster with a job that was way out of his grip and like most people, was most likely more interested in the money he could make and possible positions he could rise to. Fortunately that smug face and lame voice are no longer televised or heard in the media, but Savid Javid is beginning to annoy me just the same. I'd prefer a system that held morals and preferred to stick to truths, rather than appoint people who don't seem to have the incline or knowledge to hold a serious and professional job.
