I just realized why his move was called the “Napoleon Ultra Paradox.” It would put both chat’s king and Napoleon’s king in checkmate, but in doing so neither king could take the other in conventional chess. But Napoleon isn’t playing by the rules. The move was both stupid and brilliant, a paradox.
I know it's three months old, but, think about it this way, Napoleon wanted the four pawns to surround his king, so technically by Napoleons rules, the king was taken by the pawn to the right of his king, and the room would've been taken out by the pawn above the king.
That’s what I was saying
That's Beautiful actually haha

Napoleon really was screwed over by his generals lmao!

It really is fitting that Dougdoug picked Napoleon because that mf never gave up and was absolutely not above dirty tactics. So that's why it's called a _paradox!_
Napoleon Bonaparte has shown he is unparalleled once again!
The AIs strategy is to terrify the opponent with utter insanity
10:33 Napoleon sacs his king, this should now just turn into extinction chess where the kings are capturable pieces and the last player with pieces on the board wins
There was a university that held a chess ai competition a couple of years ago. everybody spent hours trying to create the best possible bot, but when they put all of them in a competition, the one who ended on top just made random moves.
😂
this reminds me when there was a poker ai competition and the winning ai was literally “if it’s my move, go all in” and it won
Reminds me of the Black Jack AI contest
Someone won by making a AI that always does one thing
All the other AIs panicked and folded
The lesson to learn from that is this:
If you are developing a competitive AI, don’t actually make an AI, make an edge case.
IIRC this is because they try to train AI on competetive gameplay so it always makes optimal moves, since AI can't recognize strategy or enemy moves but only recognizes what the theoretical best move would be it is incapable of knowing what the best response to a bad move is, it isn't trained on bad moves after all.
That's how a complete newbie beat the AI that was famous for beating a GO-Master, they just quickly explained the rules to him and he made circles, no strategy or anything. The AI couldn't recognize the moves and kept playing ideally against an enemy who isn't.

In reality, the Napoleon Ultra Paradox was the best play ever. Let me explain.
So, Napoleon did put his king into checkmate, however, by putting his pawns around both him and the enemy king, it leads into a true paradox. Both kings are in a checkmate, which means that the game cannot be won or lost by either of them, leading into a stalemate

@Number_055 yeah napoleon uses GPT-4 he said it did in a different napoleon stream before this one.
I was there for stream a month-3 months ago and whenever it tried to spawn something doug made him redo the move
@@Astrolavey a different napoleon stream???
@@saladplainzone now I’m interested
The fucking splash screens with every move name destroy me
Somehow the "Bourbon Backbreaker" is simultaneously one of the most- and one of the LEAST reasonable moves Napoleon made throughout!
The sheer simplicity of him casually following the rules (moving his pawn two squares) and also breaking them (snatching the knight) is just too hilarious for me!
4:38 Dougdoug, don't you get it? He said he's using the Parisian Guillotine! That strategy is all about getting rid of your queen
The AI is really good at naming things. If you ever struggle for a name, give it a brief description and ask for some names for what you're doing and they're almost always bangers
That's what AI should be used for
I should use this, I'm terrible at naming things
@@doozy5184 i also typically ask it rewirte something I'm doing a few times, take the best parts and implement them into my original text
I mean it’s just *french municipality* + *random alliterative word*, not hard to create something.
@judygillespie3717 "you need to know french" literally who does that
DougDoug, not being able to watch or being able to participate in your streams is upsetting but coming home from school and work and getting to sit down and relive your streams and laugh myself and helps me go to sleep to do all of it again. Keep it up DougDoug, I love ur context please never stop ❤️❤️
The worst part about this video?
The Spy would absolutely behave like this. Arrogant, confident, and absolutely idiotic.
I like how ChatGPT has moments of clarity where it plays chess legitimately for a while.
I wonder if it was trying to replicate patterns it was being fed with twitch chat's moves
It doesn’t look like chatgpt. They usually have guidelines and probably wouldn’t talk about anal beads and the only way to use it in a program is with an api.
I am guessing it is GPT-3 running on his computer, just speculation tho.
@@sprshb1852 IIRC, if you use the API, the guidelines aren't there. So a swearing, anally stimulated Napoleon is still possible this way.
Im never getting over how sick the napoleon ultra paradox sounds
It sounds so fucking cool, I wish it wasn't an absolutely terrible move
the napoleon ultra paradox is basically napoleon coming into the future to exact revenge against his enemies but then when he wins it starts to destroy the fabric of time and space and reality and then it just keeps happeneing until napoleon kills himself to save the earth from the multiple iterations of him constantly trying to exact revenge. and then it puts twitch chats king in check and they block it with bishop
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
@@ashleyberkowitz8772It might not be; If you are in check your move must result in you getting out of check, you are not allowed to make a move that would leave your king to be captured (this does not apply to Napoleon as he can cheat) meaning that Chat’s only legal moves would be moving their own king out of check to G8 or G6, whereafter Napoleon could take Chat’s rook for free, and would have been left with a brunch of pawns ready to promote. However due to the incompetence of General Douglas, this did not come to be. The Napoleon Ultra Paradox would have won Napoleon the game if only his General knew the rules better.
@@dragoned7685 Wait, wouldn’t this move break the rules of chess itself so hard that it wouldn’t even cause a stalemate? It might literally cause a chess paradox! I finally understand it.
That was fun to watch i hope there are more videos like this. i like to watch the chat battle against an ai.
We need more content like this
The fact that chat has maintained their FIVE GAME WIN streak, having NOT LOST, A SINGLE TIME EVER, even against Napoelon, is absolutely hilarious.
Five? Which is the fifth did I miss one?
@@HollowKnightReferencewe have three games against Napoleon I think. One where he's just an ai that messes up, one where he's allowed to cheat but trys to cheat less, and one where he goes full cheater, a god that got cocky and that alone was why we won
@@HollowKnightReference To clear up any confusion, it's a 5 game win STREAK, but in total Chat has won 6 times, and played 7 games:
2 wins and 1 draw against Doug
1 win against Ludwig's YT Chat
3 wins against AI Napoleon
For those who haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching the VOD that inspired this video. It was a battle for Europe between Napoleon and Twitch Chat. The first hour was them duking it out chess-style and it was incredible. Smoke approves!
could you give the link?
Do you have a link to the vod?
5:44 this is not what sacking is. Sacking (or Sac'ing, as I've also seen it spelt) is short for sacrificing, and describes leaving a piece in a position where your opponent's pieces can take it. The idea behind sacking is that you can weaken your opponent's position by giving up a piece. Your opponent cannot sacrifice your pieces, so you would say the knight was taken or captured.
On a side note, the only difference between "sacking" and "hanging" a piece is intention/advantage (although those two don't necessarily align). Sackings are tactical decisions that can result in an advantage, whereas hangings are accidental and can result in a disadvantage.
To conclude, you can't correctly say that Napoleon "sacked" chat's knight, since it was not his piece to sac. You can't correctly say that chat "sacked" the knight either, because it did not seem intentional (and if they act like it was intentional, its probably copium). Because it was unintentional, you CAN say that chat "hung" the knight. And you can also say that Napoleon "captured", "capped" (the shorted form of "captured"), or "took" the knight, which are probably the easiest ways of communicating that.
I just had to get that off my chest because entertaining videos like this will inevitably reach people who don't know much about chess, so something as simple as using the wrong term can have major outreach. At least 1 of the 1.3 million people who watched this as of right now, if not more, has now come away from this video thinking that sacking means capturing a piece, when that is very far from the truth. There is already so much public misunderstanding about chess and misusing terms like this isn't going to help much, so I feel obligated to do my part to curb misinformation and put this information out there, even if it's probably going to ultimately be ignored.
And it wasn’t an illegal move
@@longpermaspike6738yes it was. You can only take another piece with a pawn diagonally.
MAKE A PART 2 MAN THIS VID WAS AWESOME
I love how the ai could just say “my pawn on e2 kills their king”
No, he made it a rule that he can't just capture your king or checkmate you immidietly
A real "no onions for twitch chat" moment.
@@Opanker_Or else Chat would have been destroyed by the Napoleon Ultra Paradox
But can he kill HIS king?
@@techno1561yeah fr Napoleon should have won right there, RIGGED
I would love to have another one of these. This is hilarious
We need more stuff like that! It is so good!
I actually want Napoleon to return. The archenemies of Twitch chat
He's barely a villain of the week tbh
@@bruuuuuuuuhhhhhe's not going to be just a villain of the week soon
Luckily, they banished him to an island.
*_But he came back!_*
@@ValeBridgeslucky they banished him to another island
He needs to team up with the great wizard babagoboosh to defeat the high demon elgrim
"Thousands of screaming children play chess against Napoleon, who's actually an AI and is cheating" is something you'd only expect from DougDoug, and I love it
I might expect it from Charborg too, but that's why I watch both. You never know what wacky thing they'll come up with on any given day.
this was exceptionally fun to watch, especially with the great "voice acting" of napoleon
I love how excited Doug gets when Napoleon's AI performs an actually legal move
Genuinely obsessed with the fact that DougDoug is able to make what sounds like a stupid concept the most entertaining thing to watch
the key is that it's not *too* stupid, it's just stupid enough to actually work in some way. It's calculated stupid. Truly, CatCat has mastered the art of stupid.
That's just his entire brand.
