      @Ben-fl6rf That's why it's a paradox it's a seemingly awful move but will ultimately be a cornerstone in your offense and lead you to win the game. If only Napoleon's awesome strategies weren't wasted on his incompetent and fumbling generals.

    I just realized why his move was called the “Napoleon Ultra Paradox.” It would put both chat’s king and Napoleon’s king in checkmate, but in doing so neither king could take the other in conventional chess. But Napoleon isn’t playing by the rules. The move was both stupid and brilliant, a paradox.

      I know it's three months old, but, think about it this way, Napoleon wanted the four pawns to surround his king, so technically by Napoleons rules, the king was taken by the pawn to the right of his king, and the room would've been taken out by the pawn above the king.

    It really is fitting that Dougdoug picked Napoleon because that mf never gave up and was absolutely not above dirty tactics. He was exiled to an island, decided he was done with that and just sailed back to the mainland. The army tried to stop him but he just stood there and told them to fall back under his command and then proceeded to march them back against the government.

    • @verySharkey
      @verySharkey ปีที่แล้ว +110

      IIRC this is because they try to train AI on competetive gameplay so it always makes optimal moves, since AI can't recognize strategy or enemy moves but only recognizes what the theoretical best move would be it is incapable of knowing what the best response to a bad move is, it isn't trained on bad moves after all.
      That's how a complete newbie beat the AI that was famous for beating a GO-Master, they just quickly explained the rules to him and he made circles, no strategy or anything. The AI couldn't recognize the moves and kept playing ideally against an enemy who isn't.

    Marseille Mutilator: A normal pawn move. What the fuck?
    Elba Island Invasion: Moves a knight one space diagonally to capture a piece. Back to cheating.
    Waterloo Whirlwind: Moves a pawn one space horizontally to capture a piece.
    Provonco Pummel: Moves a rook over a pawn to take... nothing. That move did nothing.
    Bordeaux Blitz: Moves a pawn forward one space. Man, he's really bad at this.
    Versailles Vanquisher: Also moves a pawn forward one space, finally getting him out of check. That took a while.
    Savoyarde Strike: Moves a bishop 3 spaces diagonally, putting a king in check.
    Toulouse Tornado: Moves a rook diagonally. Doug fucked this one up. What an idiot.
    Marseille Mirage: Rook jumps over a piece to take an opposing pawn.
    Lyon Lion's Roar: Moves a king one space diagonally, taking... his own pawn. Of course.
    Fierce Flandering Flash: Moves a pawn forward 2 spaces. Isn't he supposed to be cheating?
    Avignon Avalanture: Moves a pawn forward 2 spaces. How unexpected.

    My favorite thing about DouglasDoug is that each time there's a cut in the video you can kind of piece together what twitch chat was talking about ten seconds before

      Do you watch the streams? Cause I do to and can kinda do that. I'm curious if you can do it without watching streams.

      The AI is so good at naming shit, I often just give a brief description of something, and ask for names that fit a theme, and it spits out so many absolute banger names

    Technically, Napoleon had a checkmate since the first move because any of his pieces could have immediately taken the king

    • @Blue-fg8vt
      @Blue-fg8vt ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nah. He can't auto take the king, like he's not allowed to put himself in check.

      We laid down some ground rules before the stream that didn't come up in the video. That he wasn't allowed to take the king directly was one. The others were that he wasn't allowed to ignore check (which came up) and finally that he wasn't allowed to cheat to get out of a checkmate (otherwise he could have teleported his pawn to take the rook on e1 or something)

    • @Vidiri
      @Vidiri ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Idk why they didn't include these, but it was mentioned at the beginning of the stream that Napoleon "can't directly take the king, since the win condition for chess is checkmate, not physically taking the king"

    How magnanimous of Emperor Napoleon to allow chat to checkmate him. If he had wanted to, he could have teleported his King out of harm’s way, but he allowed them to enjoy this small victory. Truly a selfless general.

    complete fever dream of a stream. I'm still a huge fan of chat constantly shouting "D:" every time napoleon named a new move, no matter how ineffectual the move was or silly the name is.

    I love how most of his moves are kind of country related, and then theres "THE NAPOLEON ULTRA PARADOX" which sounds like an Ultimate attack from an Anime or Fighting game, even further juxtaposed by the fact that it puts him into checkmate
