I march trumpet for Mason and this is my favorite season that I’ve marched so far. We had so much fun and experiencing this show as it came to life was something really special. Thanks for ranking us so high and loving our show as much as we do!
We saw you guys at (I think) obetz stadium (beavercreek) and we loved that show bro. Y’all have such a large band and to see you guys on this list at NUMBER ONE is crazy❤
I was center snare for Tarpon Springs this year, and to say it was an awesome show to perform would be a complete understatement. The visual design was outstanding, and it was by far the best senior year show I could have hoped for to close out my time with Tarpon. In the middle of the season, we were hit with 2 hurricanes one after another, taking 2 weeks off out of our typical rehearsal time. It was definitely a challenge, but we managed to overcome the obstacles and deliver an extraordinary product that I couldn't be more thrilled about. Thanks for reviewing our program and for the kind words! (Expect those Chickens and Demons 2 beats soon 😈)
@loganbashore ong he is.. hes the battery coordinator for seige which is here at our high school.. our perc tech jon otero invited him for one of our Saturday camps, hes a chill dude lowkey
Thanks for the shout out for the Bridgeland drumline!! We think they’re pretty awesome too, but I may be a little biased-my son is on the line and was the snare solo at the top of the show.
I met a bunch of bridgeland kids and they were VERY cool. So proud of them, Cedar Park and Leander and I can’t believe I got to march on the same field as them. They represented us in the best way and I loved their shows- love from seven lakes!
Hey EMC! I enjoy your marching band and drumming content. Thank you for ranking Mason #1 on your list! I am an alumni myself! You are an awesome drummer and again I like your content!
Leander kid here God our show was so fun. Also the clip you showed was not the final version of our show. I’m just sad cause our best run (by quite a bit) was prelims. We got 8th. Then we got bumped down to 12th in semis and finals. I had my best run in finals though, so at least there’s that
im happy bridgeland is finally being noticed by eric. they placed well in WGI scholastic world placing 8th in finals. i wanted too see them so bad in a ranking, so im happy theyre hard work has paid off.congrats to the bridgeland band
So glad to be mentioned my EMC! I was the Electric Strings section leader for AF this year. And I played the electric Cello. Im so proud of all the bands that went this year. Yall did amazing!
Hey EMC! I think you should do a video on rating University Drumlines, talking about their participation in the band their drum choices and if they have a cool custom wrap that as well! Going over the songs/cadences that they play would be sick as well! That Would be a video I feel alot of people would watch especially if they’re considering joining a college/university Drumline in the future also seeing a your opinion on said university Drumlines would be entertaining!
What did you think of Catawba Ridge High School? We got 2nd in 2A behind Tarpon Springs (of course) and 19th overall. I know that’s not crazy but if you could give a thought that’d be nice. I’m a senior so this was my last year, but I’ll get to see my brother perform for three more and I think we have a shot because our area is growing massively. This was only our fifth year marching and sixth year as a school btw.
My band competed in the same circuit as American Fork this year (UMEA), so it is awesome to see them at Grand Nationals!!!! I’m glad we weren’t in the same classification, because we would’ve stood no chance 😅 I was able to play Vibraphone in the pit this year for Clearfield High School, which was a lot of fun. GO FALCONS!!!!!!!
As a fellow student of Ohio, we are all so proud of Mason. Their performance literally never stopped. We were staying at the same hotel as them and they had themed posters outside their rooms. I am so happy they are getting the recognition they deserve!!!!
Fifty years I started my marching band career as a high school sophomore a a member of the drum line. During my 3-year run we marched at the King Orange Jamboree parade on 12/31/74 and won the PA state championship (large schools) in 1976. Back then bands were comprised of musicians, rifles, flags, and majorettes. Nothing on the sidelines. No props on the field. No dancing girls. No keyboards. Times have changed and I’m not sure for the better. Watching this video I am both awestruck and saddened.
I am your age and was also a drummer when I graduated in 1974. I love the old stuff but the new stuff is better and those musicians are 10X better my drum section. Same with horns and show design. Much better now. :)
……..as EMC skips 2023 and misses Hebron, Pearland, Bartlesville, Blue Springs, Round Rock, Keller, Brownsburg, and Fishers. XD Love your content btw, and a Pearland marcher! I loved seeing these shows live!
Castle was always in their own class during our invitationals it was wild lol, we got to warm up next to them during another invitational and they sounded great
I marched with Irondale and we were I believe the only band from Minnesota there, our show was also based on Piet Mondrian’s art (we picked it first)😂 it was called composition no. 24 in red, yellow, and blue. I am a freshman and this experience is something I want to do again and again. Congratulations to Avon high school it was the only show we watched when we arrived it was absolutely phenomenal.
As someone from Zionsville HS, I can confirm that right before BOA Semifinals and Finals, we rented our stadium to Castle HS for them to practice their show. (you're welcome Castle)
You still need to tell us why Brave Little Toaster is your favorite movie!! (I remember as a kid thinking it was kind of odd.) I don't need to start one of those, "Day 1 of asking for..." things, do I???
Gosh, I wonder what happened to Blue Springs High School from Missouri. They originally beat Broken Arrow in the BOA Prelims here in Missouri. But, I guess Broken Arrow caught up and went to finals.
The likes of Hebron, Vandegrift, and FlowerMound did not go to Grand Nationals this year which is the competition he is reviewing as his “favorite high school show of the year.” This comp is considered to be the best of best from across the country but without the likes of these powerful Texas bands each year I truly don’t feel as if it would have ended the same. Vandegrifts first time at Grand nats ever in their schools history was 2019. I find it a little funny that not only was it their first time but also the year they win. So to answer those of yalls questions he didn’t forget he only rated the tx bands that went to BOA Grand National Chamionships, so before you are so quick to flame someone else for a comment that is very much correct do some more of your own research before you try and discredit them! @Anonymous-t4z5e
I used to be in Percussion Ensemble (as well as the marching band) in high school, and I think its much more impressive when the group has no conductor. Maybe I'm the outlier here. I think its much tougher and takes more discipline to perform without a conductor. As a performer, I take more pride that I had to perform with only my classmates on the floor.
You need to review flower mound high school 2024. There show was incredible to see at state championship, and scored a 97.2 at boa super regionals. Sad they didn’t go to grand national
Can you add snares below the tenor drums? Its a cool idea where it’s kind of like your snenor drums, but its tenors with the literal snare line thing under it Edit: call it the Tenare drums hehe
I'm a front ensemble marimba player and to be honest I just went through the video to see if our band was in this because we won 3A Texas State championship. It was really fun though, all the roadies said they zoomed the jumbotron on me a bunch and that I was really red 😬 We played against Prosper HS in a marching invitational and us being a 3a got destroyed lol.
Hey, it would be really cool if you could give a review my band, James F. Byrnes, and our show this year! We unfortunately couldn’t get the funds together to go to nationals, but we won state in South Carolina, and we beat Dobyns-Bennett at the Tennessee regional, who ended up placing tenth at nats! Love your videos and all the best, my guy!
EMC 3 things i want to say 1. American fork is a silly name ( in Utah we have a Spanish fork as well 2. what did you think of the trombone solo 3. Being a band competing againist American fork is funny, becuase they have won state roughly 25 years in a row.
To be honest, I am digging the HS bands more than some of the drum corps of DCI. The "corps style", introduced by Jay Wanamaker for marching percussion back in 1981 (I think), has been embraced by field band conferences nationwide, including New York State's. The only field bands who have stayed traditional (and do a great job of it) are the bands from the HBCU campuses.
I don’t know how they did it, but Leander somehow got the sun to shine in and blind the audience during the prelims, while the band did their sunglasses show 😎
Hey bro! I’m a junior tuba The instrument is really fun… especially when the percussions blast behind you 😅 Do you know if your high school band uses sousaphones or contras? A sousaphone is worn while a contra is carried like a trumpet High school band is a blast, hope you are excited! 😆🔥
Wish you could react to Tarpon Springs High School Florida show for this year. They got first place at camping world and my band went to there competition and holy “smokes” there show was amazing
@ really??? On the tarpon springs competition at there school? I didn’t even see that since I went to get consesions and they started so I had to watch from below

You guys are insane your guard is half the size of our whole band lol
We saw you guys at (I think) obetz stadium (beavercreek) and we loved that show bro. Y’all have such a large band and to see you guys on this list at NUMBER ONE is crazy❤
You guys did so well! Great show!
Shoutout to Flower Mound, if they'd have went to grand nats they'd have had a good shot at it all
Yeah a 97.2 is crazy considering hebron got a 96.15
Proud American Fork mello here! Happy to see them make your list! We never made finals when I marched, but glad to see them do it again
Dude I'm in the same sate as you and I loved your show this year!
Congrats to American Fork for having there first Grand National Finals since 1995!
I was center snare for Tarpon Springs this year, and to say it was an awesome show to perform would be a complete understatement. Thanks! I'm a freshman marching alto sax in William Mason. This years show was so much fun and I'm gonna miss it so damn much!
I was bass 3 for William Mason high school this year and it was the best experience of my life.
It better have been lil boy
@fwarkhamknigjt6104 yeah I am so lucky to be on bass as a freshman in such an amazing drumline.
Thanks for the shout out for the Bridgeland drumline!! We think they’re pretty awesome too, but I may be a little biased-my son is on the line and was the snare solo at the top of the show.
broken arrow my favorite, saw their sick uniforms everywhere walking across pasic 🔥🔥
Tarpon springs is wild. I got to see them live, it is absolutely crazy

the bari sax solo that broken arrow had was incredible
You should rank the Indy super regional finalists!
❤ That drum feature with the bari sax
Beautifully Narrated and great commentary! These shows must’ve been so fun to watch in person
Leander kid here

I knew Mason was going to be your favorite. It was easily my fave.

i marched clarinet in rabbit season, my last year in band was the most fun year ever. it was a great senior show -mason🐰

8th in the nation!! Yay
You need to do the top 12 best high school batteries next ❤😁
I saw American Fork at USU in October and my friend literally starting bawling his eyes out. It was a truly amazing show

woah what’s up! Y’all’s show was so. Good. The uniforms and the musical aspects, the marching, the concept! - love from Seven Lakes
I’m a trumpet for tarpon and we didn’t get the props till late august and our hardest challenge was the two hurricanes

10:03 my college has a large drumline too, but probably bc it's a college and not a high school but it's 10 snares, 10 cymbals, 7 basses and 6 tenors

Review the Point Loma High School 2018 championship performance in the SCSBOA 3A championship. Show was called escape and was written by band coach
Wish more bigger bands matched contras
American fork gets its name based on the city. It is named after a fork in a road between a canyon.
Tbh, the crowd could stand up when they play and hold out the last note like they do in DCI. Like dang. The crowd just seems dead until then.
I don’t know how they did it, but Leander somehow got the sun to shine in and blind the audience during the prelims, while the band did their sunglasses show 😎
let’s go tarpon springs florida represent
Shout out to Prosper High School. I love our band. ❤
Imma bout to be in marching band next year, I play Tuba, but I do know how to play percussion @EMCproductions!
Hey bro! I’m a junior tuba
The instrument is really fun… especially when the percussions blast behind you 😅
Do you know if your high school band uses sousaphones or contras?
A sousaphone is worn while a contra is carried like a trumpet

Cedar park’s show was sweeny todd hence the name
Wish you could react to Tarpon Springs High School Florida show for this year. They got first place at camping world and my band went to there competition and holy “smokes” there show was amazing
