Hi there Ben, first and foremost thank you for making this vid review. I am a new user who is seeking a better nights sleep. You def have me interested in the 8pod but my question is about their mattress that comes with it, I normally experience back pain, especially lower back and neck region -due to so, I feel like the foam mattress they provide will give me that unwanted experience. Do you still recommend the 8 sleep pod under those circumstances? Or am I better off purchasing a firm mattress with other cooling option ? Thank you.

I set my unit to 55, and it can only maintain about 63 degrees. Since the 8 doesn’t actually tell you the temp, there’s no way to confirm right? Thank you for an excellent review...Can you tell me the cooling technology these products use? Is there a compressor with a refrigerant? Without that it would seem difficult to lower the temp significantly. Or is it just a fan across a heat exchanger coil? I'd be fine if the base unit lasted the standard 15-25 years (standard coil mattresses of any decent quality will have warranties that long against warping and against splitting of the usually wool-silk blend encasing!) and you had to replace, for FAR less $$, the cooling outer layer every 5-10 years with some loyalty program, but honestly, will these companies even EXIST in 5 or 10 years?

From subtle/long temperature transitions to abrupt/fast, or having the ooler being warm before you get into bed, all for $1000 cheaper than the 8pod. Almost every feature you mentioned can be done with more precision on the ooler. The one thing the eight pod has over ooler is the analytics, but if I bought an oura ring or something similar with the ooler it offers more features and less cost than 8pod. Just sayin

I don’t have wifi out in the wilderness. Guess I’ll have to build an analog model myself.

The 8 sleep pod did not last for me. Was a great product but started leaking after 2 months. Not worth it at all.

You can feel the texture of the pad with your hand but I don't notice it when I'm laying on it.

I am a hot sleeper and I think I want an 8 sleep pod but the idea of paying a subscription after spending that kind of money really irritates me.

Actually I like that fan noise to go to sleep to. My partner and I have to have a fan going in order for us to go to sleep. I cannot sleep in a quiet place. It’s creepy and i can’t stand to hear someone breathing.

Thanks for this! We like to turn off our wifi on our phones at night for EMF reasons. With the Pod, do you need to have your phone connected to Wifi all night?

Had 2 oolers..both broke within 2 years...even with the ooler cleaning solution, and regularly mattress tube clearings..and after getting one fixed.
It DOES keep you cooler..the app works well when not getting constant upgrades..but, it will only last so long.

  • @timmothyburke

It’s incredibly stupid to start out with a warm bed it actually totally defeats the purpose of these devices which is to cool your body down before you go to sleep so you can get deeper sleep in the first hour of your sleep. It’s amazing that you’re doing a review of a product and you don’t know anything about the basic science of why these products are important.
