Slydini performed this for me in my home when I was 4 years old. I was able to spend some time with him he was a family friend. I would look under the table as he was doing this. I always had the feeling it was real. And it affected me so I still believe magic is real. ❤️
Without a doubt, the single greatest close up Magician of all time! Not even guys like Goshman (whom I am a huge fan of) could duplicate the feeling of magic Slydini gave. Seeing him work is proof God exists!
I couldn't agree more....he had all the tools. Just like someone in martial arts...you have to have a certain mis direction and timing along with the regular tools to be more WELL ROUNDED. Slydini had it all, he was well rounded...he could do more impossible looking routines because his timing and mis direction was done so well.
miamimagicians I agree with your comment wholeheartedly, especially the part where you pointed out Slydini's uncanny ability to create "...the feeling of magic...", not just "ha ha, I fooled you with a trick..." There was something very gentle and warm about his manner that I enjoy in all these old videos of him.
miamimagicians Slydini was one of the greatest. I feel Fred Kaps, and Michael Skinner were the two best in the world however. Kaps for all around and Mike for Close up However Mike could do it all very well also be it stage, stand up. Greatest is of course always very subjective. Having said that I have to admit that it was Slydini who showed me how important it is to really believe in what we are pretending to do. It wasn't a magic effect that he demonstrated that it was abit of mime that he did during that late night session.
From what i know from some that knew him well... he was great as a pearson as well. I have several pictures of tony along with other great from that time... al flosso, jay palmer, ray muse, geprge jason and several others...funn that i managed to contact george jason`s son and we was very kind to talk to me about his father and gave ,e some old pictures and documents about him... if someone might know of some footage of george performing, we would be glaf to see it or know if it exists! collectors, please feel free to contact me Best wishes

maxLeifermann Also check out Al Goshman, Lance Burton's Dove Act, and Channing Pollock. Very good Magicians! Not many are but those are the best!

Man, I lap this stuff up!
Holly molly, Slydini fooled me. I thought I recognize some old school classic moves.
You shouldn't be fooled by this if you know coin magic. Hang ping chen at 2:07 and in following 2 secs for example.
He's a lot friendlier here then he is on the other videos.

I figured out how every one of these tricks work... however, I still can't figure out how he makes those awesome noises at 2:28...
